Sounds like my expectations need to be tempered!

If it were a marvel movie it'd capt america winter soldier - still good, but the more you think about it the more it will bug you

you've hit the nail on the head there :( getting into work today chatting to someone else, and some of his thoughts exactly same as mine, watching it again maybe I'll enjoy it more 'cos I'll be able to just enjoy the fun bits?

I dunno, i'm one of those guys, i can't help but over analyze movies. the more i watch the more plotholes I'll find and the more it'll bug me.

On the other hand, arguing about those plot holes is half the fun

EP 8 I thought was stuffed to the gills. It has a bit of everything. And opened up endless potential for sequels. I liked the character developments and look forward to more.

One thing struck me this time we how plain and ordinary Rey looked. Though damn she has the most perfect teeth lmao!

Saw it on a D-Box screen tho all the vibrator seats had sold out. We were a couple of rows in front and you still got shaken about a bit.

Kahaani, Indian film. Pregnant woman travels from London to Kolkata to find out what happened to her missing husband.

Good film, shot on the streets, great feel for the place, the tech parts aren't up to Mr Robot standards, but they're not terrible, she's a software engineer, hacks a few computers.

Don't want to say much about the ending, but I didn't see that coming.

Apparently there's a film about the stars of wars or something in every screen of every cinema, so not much to see there.

If you're lucky, you might get the Mortal Engines teaser with it ;).

Got my Jedi tickets booked for Wednesday, but don't know if I'll be able to fit in Jumanji, Pitch Perfect 3 or The Greatest Showman over the hols :(.

Poor use of capital letters; must try harder

Aren't all engines mortal? Is this like when they brought back Crystal Maze with celebrities who I'd never heard of?

It's from Shakespeare, innit?

The title is a quotation from Act III, Scene iii of William Shakespeare's play Othello ("Othello: And O you mortal engines whose rude throats / Th'immortal Jove's dread clamors counterfeit..." – Line 352). It refers to the fact that the society of Municipal Darwinism is not sustainable living and that the cities' engines are indeed mortal.

The Last Jedi

I generally enjoyed it, though felt it was a bit too long and too similar to Empire. As @MkII pointed out, lots of possibilities for the next one. I wonder if IRL events will see a time jump to after Leia's death. Can't understand the vitriol spewing out from the internet against the film, it may not be perfect but it's hardly THE WORST FILM EVAH!!!!

Disappointed by no Mortal Engines teaser, though.

It was still an enjoyable film. I think the problem was all the fan theories that got out of hand that turned out to be wrong\not even addressed in the film

I enjoyed the film but they are a bit formulaic - and goodness knows where the Rebellion will get more pilots etc...again....

I think the final scene alluded to the answer to that problem, though I can't imagine that there'd be a big enough time jump to allow those kids in particular to grow up. At least The Empire First Order hadn't (quite) built yet another Death Star with a fatal flaw.

I had to check online afterwards if I actually saw what I thought I saw in the last scene, it was subtle.

There was a programme on BBC2 about Alan Partridge the other day, was quite interesting, and quite funny, then they showed Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa last night. It was OK 6/10.

Kingsman 2, exactly the same as Kingsman 1, but worse

Transcendence, AI, mind uploading, not bad, but not great.

BTW, can this thread be renamed: The latest movie I have seen.

At the cinema: The Last Jedi

It felt a bit like Harry Potter does Star Wars in parts, but I enjoyed it.

On tv (we’ve been nursing seasonal colds in gee40 household so that’s my excuse)

White Christmas and Seven brides for seven brothers (24 yr old daughter has been hooked on this since she was tiny) which were enjoyed and the truly terrible Jingle All The Way.
