LeMarchand Posted February 11, 2018 Author Posted February 11, 2018 King Arthur: Legend of the Sword Guy Ritchie's take on the tale isn't quite the "King Arfur an' the Geezers of the Round Table" I feared. Maybe I went in with low expectations, but his was much more fun than I thought it would be. I wouldn't recommend anyone rushed to see it, but if you'd been considering giving it a go I'd say it will probably keep you entertained for a couple of hours.

"Okay" I brightly replied, confusing her a little. After some thought she realised what she'd let herself in for... "It's DeadPool, isn't it?" she said. "Yup" Luckily, she likes it too and acceded to watch it with me... So... DeadPool - it still makes me laugh as much as the first time I watched it. 2

We settled on Dogma, up there with Clerks as some of Kevin Smith's finest work. Still makes me laugh as hard today as it ever did when I was a teenager. Hard to believe it'll be twenty years old next year!

Their investigation leads them to the discovery that the abduction took place only 3 weeks ago... Disappointing entry in the series as there is never any sense that the child is actually in danger. Only for die-hard fans of the series. Upside Down The trailer probably explains the concept better than I can. The film looks stunning but the world doesn't really convince, probably because they seem to aim for "SF" when it's really a fairy tale. Quite sweet, but I did struggle to stay awake. Black Panther If you like the MCU films this is another solid entry. I particularly liked the different aesthetic of the film and Martin Freeman getting to be a heroic fighter pilot. I know it's a superhero film, but I did struggle to see how Wakanda managed to stay hidden in the 20th Century and beyond. Is it the most important superhero film ever made? Maybe if you're a black American (though ironically the person who you're probably most like is the villain) otherwise, no. Is it the best superhero movie ever made? phreak Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Watched the Justice League movie and must say. I was pleasantly surprised with it. I wasn't expecting much after watching that rubbish Batman Vs Superman, but it was definitely a strong effort by DC to break into the Superhero movie market.

Baby Driver is one of the cleverest films I've ever seen. Kingsman 2 is batcrap crazy and I love it. 1

According to a friend of mine, there was a sort of generic "African" accent from quite a lot of people, along with a bit of Caribbean from some. Also some Ghanain, Zimbabwe, Nigerian, and goodness knows what else!

I was confused by the tribes of Wakanda: one lot appeared to be Amazonian tribesmen and another looked Tibetan. Presumably there are equivalents in Africa, but I kept feeling that the designer just liked the look. 1

phreak Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 The Cloverfield Paradox on Netflix Orbiting a planet on the brink of war, scientists test a device to solve an energy crisis, and end up face-to-face with a dark alternate reality. I am not sure on this one if I am honest. I never minded the Cloverfield series, although shaky cam is one of my least favourite types of cinematography. I always preferred the Pacific Rim movie to the original Cloverfield but appreciated how they tied it all together. This movie kind of undoes that nice neat bow.. or wraps it up in a bigger knot depending on how you want to look at it. On the one hand it was a half decent space Sci-Fi thriller. But on the other it gives them carte blanche to make endless movies/ tv series of this same type without having to have any continuity whatsoever.
