Seen the clip of Kevin Conroy dubbing some parts of Christian Bale's dialogue? Shivers. I love those films too.

It's marvellous! I have no idea why they haven't just hired Conroy to voice Batman in live action and just let whichever actor wears the suit do the bruce wayne lines. That would make me very happy!

Not sure the plot and twists make any sense, but Charlize Theron looking cool while kicking bottom to a soundtrack of 80s hits was more than enough to keep me amused.

Looks pretty, and is quite fun, but Dane de Haan is totally miscast and looks like he should be in "The Inbetweeners Do Goa".

Big Game

 

A 13 year old Finnish boy is sent into the forest where he will "find what he deserves" (ie manages to hunt and kill) and become a man. Unfortunately he's not very good at that sort of stuff. When Air Force One crashes nearby he must step up to the plate and help POTUS Samuel L. Jackson escape from a bunch of bad guys with muddled motives.

 

Dumb-but-fun actioner where you can easily guess which of the "good" characters will turn bad (clue: they're played by Brits) and it all doesn't make much sense but entertains sufficiently if this sort of thing does it for you. Bit disappointing that "Finland" was actually Bavaria.

For a movie with such promise and an epic cast I was really disappointed. I mean how could an action buddy movie featuring Ryan Reynolds and Samuel l Jackson pit against Gary oldman fail.

Unfortunately the jokes seemsed to fall flat and the action scenes were really badly done IMO

Your standard Tom cruise biopic by the numbers. Not bad but just kind of meh.

Watched passengers last night, interesting film full of plot holes and what felt like a very rushed ending. Stayed awake until the end though!!!

Wind River

Slightly odd film - not your usual police searching for murderer -no duff leads, all very straight forward. I think the film was trying to make a point about Native Americans life but I am not sure it worked.

I watched "it", i don't like horror at all, and the other half dragged me to the cinema to watch it. Good film though, not that scary really so i enjoyed it. Later on we then watched "The Girl on the Train", that was a good watch, i do like a who dun it.

Ooh I'm tempted to go see IT tonight... watched the trailer in VR (it's pretty cool!) but it felt a bit meh/predictable. Hopefully the actual film is a bit better

The Vow

 

 

After a car crash, Leo (Channing Tatum,) finds his wife (Rachel McAdams) no longer remembers their time together and sets out to win her heart all over again. Quite a sweet movie, but much more low key than I was expecting.

 

However, perhaps the best way to sum this up is "forgettable". Why? Well, I thought that this was one of those "sounds interesting" movies on release that I never got around to. However, someone on another board highly recommended it, so I thought I'd give it a go. 5 minutes in Mlle LeMarchand announced that she'd seen it and remembered it was good but, as she couldn't remember what happened, to carry on. By the wedding scene, I was trying to remember why the sight of Lucas Bryant from "Haven" in a top hat was familiar and Mme LeMarchand was wondering if she'd seen the film or was just remembering the trailer. When the film ended and I went to rate it on TMDb I found that I had already done so (data transferred from IMDb) and had obviously forgotten all about it. My original score was the one I was going to put in, though.

 

I actually found the similarly themed "50 First Dates" a far superior film.

Seventh Seal -- I'd not seen the previous 6, but it was interesting

mother! -- good, although the allegory seems rather too obvious

Wind River -- pretty good entry in the Cold Western genre

I've watched a few Bergman films over the summer, including The Seventh Seal. My favourite was Persona - which is darker than the middle of a forest on a stormy night!

 

The most surprisingly enjoyable film I've watched recently was 'Paper Moon', the film that introduced Tatum O'Neal to the world.

Watched Kingsman: The Golden Circle last night. I loved the first film so really enjoyed this one, more of the same and then some!

Underworld: Blood Wars

 

...erm something about nasty werewolves trying to wipe out the vampire race by using the pretty lady with the shiny bottom's daughter - though it turns out they didn't need her that badly. Lurches from badly-lit fight scene to fight scene with a bit of scheming between each. Only recommended if you've really got a thing for Kate Beckinsale in her skin tight shiny costume.

Watched Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men tell no Tales on the weekend. Not a bad little adventure. Definitely better than the last movie... probably the last 2 movies if I am honest.

Although I just know that this is their rejuvenation so that they can continue to milk the franchise I don't know if I am bothered with it anymore as for me the end of this movie kind of felt like they should have just left it there.
