Is it domain connected? Could it be a GPO perhaps? An uninstalled app? Probably a fair few ways of investigating it though I expect it's not particularly important, I'm sure they are already aware of it.
abillybob Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 So just tried it my feeling on Windows 10 is that it's Windows 8 with a few updated icons, classic start menu and the ability to run applications in desktop mode. I personally think they should just update Windows 8.1 and include all that anyway.

I personally think they should just update Windows 8.1 and include all that anyway. Don't forget there aren't any consumer end features in it yet, this is just the raw technical preview. I guess this is the problem with releasing really early preview builds, everyone assumes its the finished article. 1

(I know that Macs were far from the first computers to have virtual desktops but Microsoft really do seem to have ripped their entire interface off wholesale here) Though you could happily argue that Mac stole the interface from Windows' Alt+Tab initially and adapted that for multiple desktops, where as Microsoft are just building upon the Alt+Tab interface and adapting it to accommodate multiple desktops.

The best OS ever devised by man is, was, and always will be AmigaOS! (I know that Macs were far from the first computers to have virtual desktops but Microsoft really do seem to have ripped their entire interface off wholesale here) It's worth pointing out that Windows has had Virtual Desktops for a few years now, it's nothing new - Desktops 1

Why can't you just have all windows open in one desktop and then switch between Windows ? Its easier to lay everything out how you want in a desktop and switch between them. Especially if you use things like command prompts/powershell windows etc... I have a third party virtual desktop tool installed on my Win 8.1 laptop for dev work, makes life a lot easier than alt tabbing. 1
