KoolTech Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Hi, We currently use Sophos here and I am trying to install it on a new sever and its nothing but trouble! Been looking at other cheap antivirus alternatives and was wondering what you guys use in your schools? Cheers 1

rich_tech Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Kaspersky at work, used to be Symantec when I first started, not a bad product, little bit clunky though I think in places. I use Bitdefender at home too on all machines, excellent bit of software
RichCowell Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I've always used Sophos - always worked pretty reliably, and not had any issues with viruses, so no plans to look elsewhere for the foreseeable future... I've heard their support's pretty good if you're struggling getting going with it - not had cause to use it myself though - which I think's a good sign after 10ish years using it...

We had to renew our AV subscription this year and got it ridiculously cheap on a 3 year deal so stayed with it. I like the fact that I can do application control through it as well as AV protection (assuming this isn't possible in other companies' products!) Only issue I've had really was installing Enterprise Console 5.2.1 R2 on a new server. Took a little investigating but ultimately boiled down to it not being able to create a scheduled task due to security restrictions.

Hawes29 Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 We use Viper; moved from Kaspersky because of the increased cost. Viper gave us a 3 year deal and also included 150 free staff licences. We've had no issues with it.

I'll second galway by saying that we've not had any problems with it either. When I started there was a few machines with viruses and policy issues, but that was solved easily by clicking a few buttons. I also like the clean look of the console.
