At a rough count, we have about 800 lights in our office plus two screens in the window facing the corridor showing a basic web page I have created with snow falling.

So what has/is everyone doing/done to make the place more christmasy?

We've added a pretty desktop background and a few decorations in the office. :)

Special Christmas background

In one school I have a very small live tree in a lovely red metal pot with Happy Christmas on it from Tesco. Decorated with coloured foil - course I had to eat the chocolate just to get the foil!

Different wallpaper everyday. Featuring me!

I don't know if that's genius or terrifying.

Mine (posted above) is the same wallpaper I used last year, though. I ought to make a new one..

Designed a new christmassy theme for our Intranet page. Javascript Snow and a very good, powerpoint drawn polar bear called Neville. Oh, and who could forget - A christmas countdown in PHP.

I ask the pupils and staff to design a Christmassy desktop background, new one each day. Some great, some awful, but the look on some of their faces when theirs gets used is fantastic - one difficult child was in a good mood all day because I used his design.

Intranet page will go up next week with the javascript snowflakes and special Xmas banner that reveals more if you're on a higher resolution screen (set as a background pinned to the left of the screen):

Tinsel will go up Monday. Our RAM wreath fell apart :(

Forgot I needed to do a Xmas background though - that'll occupy me for the next half an hour before hometime :)

Anyone know of an easy way to have desktop snow? A simple little program that can run in the background and gently snow over the desktop would be nice. I'd write one myself but my programming abilities aren't up to it.

I thought the 'elf and safety do-gooders had banned christmas items in schools?

Or has that policy been strung up with some rather chafing tinsel? :D

Anyway, here in our Uni office - someone has erected something that vaguely resembles a christmas tree...
