Popular Post siuko Posted August 23, 2007 Popular Post Posted August 23, 2007 Active User Manager Just thought I would let everyone know about this fantastic program that we just started using. We were searching for a useful bulk import tool for some time and many cost quite a bit of money. The NM who works with me found this gem of a program. It takes a little setting up - setting the OU default properties for shared folders etc - but once thats done its great!! Hope it helps... PS. His site says it is now FREE 5
Midget Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Nice One, I shall have to store this in my useful tools archive.
plexer Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Grr. Used to use that previously and we just bought a suite of apps to do this. AUM is good when you want to move stuff around as well becasue it keeps your structure intact. Ben
mortstar Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Something I was literally just looking for! Fantastic, thanks.
BKGarry Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 I have an excell spreadsheet that does all the batch commands and you just copy it into a batch and run. Made it 4 years ago now
plexer Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 What commandline tool does it run to create the account BK? Ben
BKGarry Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 (edited) Net make, net share, cacls, md (if not exist) i have attached a copy for you to look atnew_yr_7-2007.xls Edited June 29, 2010 by vikpaw alter attachment after concern that real student names were used
plexer Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 Do you mean net user? You realise that it only creates pre windows 2000 logon names don't you? Ben
Norphy Posted August 24, 2007 Posted August 24, 2007 You can use DSADD If you have Windows XP or 2003.
localzuk Posted September 3, 2008 Posted September 3, 2008 Lifesaver!! This is perfect for schools really!! 1

mb2k01 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Does anyone have a working URL to download this tool? The one above seems to be dead now.
3s-gtech Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 (edited) Zipped and attached. Not sure if it'll register now though, may be able to help if possible. Remember with AUM - it does not create the user directories when it creates the user, unlike Account Management. You'll either need to script this, or do it manually.AUMSetup.zip Edited September 17, 2010 by 3s-gtech 1
powdarrmonkey Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Zipped and attached. Not sure if it'll register now though, may be able to help if possible. Do you have a redistribution license for that?
localzuk Posted September 18, 2010 Posted September 18, 2010 Do you have a redistribution license for that? The owner released it for anyone to use, so being fussy about redistribution when the original owner had made it clear that anyone can have it is a little odd.
3s-gtech Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Do you have a redistribution license for that? Nope, but the licence itself is not contained within the file, and must be registered for. As Mikey Magic's site has gone, it's become very difficult to get hold of, despite its popularity.
runcmd Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I used this software when the primary school moved from single logins per year grou to individual log ons. It does not do any thing scripts can't it is merely help for those who don't script and visual learners like myself

machin05 Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I'm interested on the outcome of this. I use it every year to create the new cohort but I rebuilt my laptop last week and have subsequently lost the license info. I remember it being free but the website is down now. Am keen to get it fully working again, before it's too late.
Guest TheLibrarian Posted September 22, 2010 Posted September 22, 2010 I've mentioned this before - and I know it's not free but user import is just one of the many tasks you can automate (and delegate) - XIA Automation, very cheap considering what you can do with it, the ROI is very short - first few months we figure we got our money's worth. I'm not affiliated with the company that provides it, but I will sing it's praises because it is that good.
runcmd Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 (edited) Hi Guys here is the key code for Active User manager, Its totally free so I can't see any probs doing this: Activation Code: Active User Manager is now completely free and unlimited to use without any purchase. I am currently working on removing the license activation component from the software but until then please find below an activation code that will unlock the demo version to give you a full version (effectively a site license under the old licensing scheme). Name: Licensed Full Version Organisation: Licensed Full Version Activation Code: GLYQ5 RLR90 TDWUR 2Q7L5 6LR29 Edited September 23, 2010 by runcmd 1
