Good Morning Everyone, Hope everyone is having a wonderful day . Our Office 365 is always syncing with our on premise active directory, however for this one person it dosent seem to be working correctly. For example I created the account "James Microsoft" (Name Changed for security purposes) and his username would be "microsoftj" in our active directory. So his email in our active director says "[email protected]***********.co.uk" however in office 365 his email is coming up as "[email protected]**********.co.uk". I have tried to delete his account in office 365 but it wont allow me two because it is controlled by our on premises active directory. Any Help would be apprenticed. Thank-you

We have user-space quotas setup across the board split by the key stage of learning-e.g KS3 -500mb KS4 - 1GB KS5 - 2GB Year on year as they progress up though the school the student's groups get automatically provisioned in AD but the quota change is still a manual process... anyone know of a way this can be automated?

Hi Everyone. Can anyone help please????? I'm curently working on a project that requires me to provide our ldap details to sync with a booking system held externally to get all our users to be able to login. All our current ldap enabled tasks are held within our private network and the settings i can see all point to an internal IP which is our DC. The software wants a different address containing a public IP as it comes in via the web and i'm unsure what it is. I've tried all sorts of combinations from ldap://dc.domain.local:389 to ldaps://dc.domain.local:636. I've even tried our proxy server A record DNS but still top no avail. Any ideas where i might be going wrong? The software comapny says we should heve an external ldap address, but as a techie that didn't originally set it up, I can't find it! Many thanks!!!

ok, i need to be able to create a user in moodle and have that user then created back into my servers AD. Is This Even Possible? i know the reverse is possible so it can't be to difficult. is there anyone who can help? my site is currently running moodle 2.2.2+

Hi all... My name is Nicki and I'm a 17 year old who's passionate about I.T.... I've just started working as an Apprentice I.T. Technician in a school and so far I'm really enjoying it. I don't mean to ramble but I just wanted to give you guys some context. I'm essentially a complete 'noob' when it come to the management side of I.T. Sorry if this is in the wrong category but I wasn't sure where to put it and here seemed the most appropriate. My question is fairly simple and it feels kinda stupid to ask but how do you search active directory? I have tried right clicking on the OU in question and then clicking find but I am getting no results...? I thought I was miss spelling the students username at first but when a colleague of mine searched the username appeared straight away. I have tried searching for other users as well and I still get no results... I thought it could be an issue with permissions, but I doubt this is the case as when I click onto an OU I can see all the users and I can click on a user and edit the properties (password ect) I just can't seem to search, even though I can find them manually... I have mentioned it to my line manager (who is also registered on this forum) but he said that I would be a good learning experience for me to find information on this problem myself. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'm more than willing to learn Cheers

Morning all! I am setting up a separate network from the original school network in a new building. A very simple network, one box, a DC, Server 2008 R2 Std, 10 permanent users (as well as visiting students) and the traffic is completely disconnected with the school now. What i'd like to know is what you do for user accounts / profiles / logon scripts etc. I'm new to Server 2008 so I'm a bit confused as to where to start and if there's any new features i can use. Previously, we had the user, a redirected my documents folder (through AD home folder) and a redirected App Data (due to a large amount of settings, through GPO) as well as a logon script to map printers and a couple of network drives. Happy to do this again, but don't want to go ahead and do it if there's a simpler way of doing things etc. Cheers Stu PS - XP Clients, for now.

Active User Manager Just thought I would let everyone know about this fantastic program that we just started using. We were searching for a useful bulk import tool for some time and many cost quite a bit of money. The NM who works with me found this gem of a program. It takes a little setting up - setting the OU default properties for shared folders etc - but once thats done its great!! Hope it helps... PS. His site says it is now FREE

We use AD Infinitum software at our school, and we are experiencing problems while creating new users. The error log is showing the error “An exception has occurred: 1332: No mapping between account names and security IDs was done.”. We have full access to the home directories and the directories are creating fine, but the security permissions are showing up as “Unknown Account”. We have been using this software for 2 years now and haven’t had any problems. I have done a bit of digging into the error code 1332 but nothing specific is helping me get this working.

I am not really looking for the usual user management features that exist in some / many pieces of software that tap into MS AD. What I want to do is be able to produce reports detailing the user account information, namely username and password. In the past I have used an excel file and merged it to word to produce a little wallet sized card with all the appropriate network and email account information on it. The teachers have found this very useful as I can quickly produce a class set and when thirty kids walk in the ICT we can get them logged in as quick as possible. I kept on top of for a couple of schools (only visiting 1 day a week) and worked well when you used this as the central account db and just exported to the various system for instance, AD and bgfl email and some school software applications. Now I am looking for something that will query AD and produce the same soft of reports (8 wallet sized network accounts) and something that will be as flexible as excel / mail merge and allow me to add other bits of info!! Has anyone used anything like this before? Thanks in advance - not long now!!
