Popular Post VeryPC Posted September 1, 2015 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) Hi Everybody! It is THAT time again. Free socks for all, cracking prizes for a lucky few, and waaaayy too many hastily produced attention seeking daily draw videos of course. It’s the original VeryPC competition on EduGeek, back for another year, it’s: Socktober 2015 of course! If you just can’t wait to enter, send an EduGeek PM to this account (verypc) right now with your email, name and address. The fun starts on 1st October and this year we are giving away: A free pair of Socktober 2015 socks for every entrant (one size fits all) 31 daily prizes of a personalised Socktober 2015 T-shirt and mug A Liva X2 mini PC A Liva Core mini-PC The STAR PRIZE is a custom branded Intel® Core™ i7 NUC complete with 24” monitor, mouse and keyboard *not the actual socks. **not the actual T-shirt. ***not the actual mug How to enter To enter Socktober 2015 and (at the very least) claim your free pair of socks, all you need to do is send an EduGeek PM to this account (verypc) with your email, name and address. Who the heck are this lot? VeryPC for noobs: VeryPC manufacture computers and supply ICT hardware to schools nationwide. We’re a Microsoft Gold OEM Partner and Intel Platinum Technology Provider. Our products and services include desktop PCs, laptops, tablets and servers; software and licencing; interactive and audio-visual equipment; warranty support and managed services. -------------------------------------------------- The small prints For those among you of a fastidious bent, here are the tiny important details that all add up to make Socktober 2015: Entries are now being taken by PM to the @VeryPC EduGeek account. Entries will be closed at midnight on Thursday 29th October 2015, after which no more entries will be taken. Only 1 entry per EduGeek member/human. Members with multiple EduGeek accounts will not qualify for additional entries. Socktober is open to all EduGeek members who can provide a UK mailing address. Socktober is not open to present or past VeryPC employees, suppliers, resellers, associates, partners or the friends or family members of such. Entrants must provide their email, name and address via EduGeek PM (private message) to the @VeryPC EduGeek account. Prizes and freebies will only be shipped to UK addresses. Every day in October we will give away a prize to one of our Socktober competition entrants whose EduGeek name will be drawn and announced via YouTube video embedded in the competition thread (this thread) on EduGeek. Drawn tickets WILL NOT be replaced until after the penultimate draw on Friday 30th October. No draws will be made at weekends, so instead each Friday (except 30th October) we will do a triple draw representing that Friday and the following Saturday and Sunday. On Friday 30th October, we will do a double draw representing that Friday and the following Saturday. The daily prize will be a Socktober 2015 T-shirt and mug, each personalised with the daily winner’s EduGeek name. On Friday 9th October we will do the 1st fortnightly prize draw. The winner will receive a Liva X2 mini-PC. On Friday 23rd October we will do the 2nd fortnightly prize draw. The winner will receive a Liva Core mini-PC. Each Friday multiple draw will be done in reverse order so the Friday fortnightly or final star prize winner will be drawn last on those days. After the penultimate draw on Friday 30th October all drawn tickets will be replaced in preparation for the final star prize draw. On Friday 30th we will draw the winner of the star prize, an Intel® Core™ i7 NUC with customised skin, 24” monitor, mouse and keyboard. Fortnightly and star prize winners will also receive the daily prize of personalised Socktober 2015 T-shirt and mug There may be opportunities to win occasional bonus prizes introduced on an ad hoc basis throughout October 2015. Bonus prize opportunities and conditions will be announced in the competition thread (this thread) on EduGeek OR in the daily videos. To qualify for bonus prizes opportunities you must already be an entrant in Socktober 2015. Other conditions for bonus prize opportunities will be declared along with the bonus opportunity announcement. Although it’s very unlikely to happen, we reserve the right to change or cancel any aspect of Socktober 2015 without notice, including prizes awarded or these competition conditions. Don’t worry, this just covers us in the event of some unforeseen eventuality that completely messes everything up, like aliens invading Sheffield or something. We reserve the right to refuse entry to or withdraw any entrant from Socktober 2015 without notice or explanation. Again, just covering ourselves in case we spot something dodgy going on and have to kick anyone out for whatever reason – not likely to happen if you’re a legitimate entrant. We also reserve the right to force you to have fun, even if it’s against your will and through gritted teeth. You think these shenanigans are easy? Look, we put real effort into all this nonsense and goshdarn it, YOU WILL ENJOY IT! -------------------------------------------------- So get your entry in now. At the very very least you’ll soon be luxuriating in your lovely new Socktober 2015 socks, and maybe bragging about your winnings! PM your email, name and address to this EduGeek account @VeryPC Al, Dancing monkey, VeryPC. Edited September 1, 2015 by VeryPC 53
Popular Post sonofsanta Posted September 1, 2015 Popular Post Posted September 1, 2015 Crikey, you lot are organised this year aren't you? Suspiciously so, in fact... uncharacteristically so... I would like to register my interest in entering your promotional prize draw and whoring out my personal details in exchange for a shot at free items that are themselves promotional and would turn me into a walking/drinking advertisement for your brand whilst filling me with a sense of gratitude and satisfaction that I have been afforded the opportunity to brand myself with your company's identity. Should I get a tattoo on my forehead? I'll do it for a 10% discount.* Also: current designs are fine, leave 'em like that. There's a charm to them *I won't do it. Sorry. But I will fill the thread with rubbish Photoshops. 10
sparkeh Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 (edited) I'm in, you probably have my details lying around somewhere... Edit: Hang on! Don't you mean Stocktob3r? Edited September 1, 2015 by sparkeh 2
bladedanny Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Count me in, (I'll send a pm). I could do with a new t-shirt and socks to add to my verypc wardrobe. Just got to wait an entire month till it starts now. 1
VeryPC Posted September 2, 2015 Author Posted September 2, 2015 Don't you mean Stocktob3r? Actually, this would be Stock4ber if we're counting (which obviously I am). The 4 doesn't really fit in very gracefully though does it? Thankfully, since we've switched to the 'Sock' pun we can jump back a couple of numerals and go with Sock2ber instead. WELCOME BACK EVERYONE!!!!!![/shouty] Al 1

VeryPC Posted September 2, 2015 Author Posted September 2, 2015 Is anyone allowed to enter? Yep - as long as you an EduGeek member, which obviously you are. Just PM your email, name and address to this account @VeryPC See the OP for a full list of conditions. We also do competitions that are open to the rest of humanity too, but S(t)ockober is a special case. It was/is the original VeryPC competition on EduGeek and will always be an EduGeek exclusive. Cheers, Al 1
hallb15 Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 YESSSS! I'm so glad I came into school today and read this... Honestly, I'm a little worried at how happy this has made me - even more so than when I saw the 'life size' R2D2 made out of LEGO at the LEGO shop in Disneyland... 1
X-13 Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) You know who I am. And you should have my address. Send me all the stuff. Obligatory pony image. I was half expecting this to be "techs only" and not be allowed to enter. Edited September 2, 2015 by X-13 1
muppet Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 PM sent.....I missed the last one for various reasons so I'm sooooo happy that I'm able to get my details across for this one. 1
ellsandell Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Although I'm working else where now (NHS) I have Colin's permission to enter! All hail the sock overlords! 1
VeryPC Posted September 2, 2015 Author Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) I was half expecting this to be "techs only" and not be allowed to enter. It wouldn't be Socktober without @X-13 ! We had to change the rules just for you basically. If you want to play the system, get a really niche job and you'll probably be the only entrant next year: Socktober 2016 (5ocktober): For registered Unicorn Hoof Polishers on EduGeek ONLY. Al Edited September 2, 2015 by VeryPC 4
sparkeh Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Socktober 2016 (5ocktober): For registered Unicorn Hoof Polishers on EduGeek ONLY. Al Professional or amateur?? We need clarification!! 1
VeryPC Posted September 2, 2015 Author Posted September 2, 2015 (edited) Professional or amateur?? We need clarification!! Professional of course. We need entrants with budget to spend! Whaddaya think this is - some sort of lark about? Al Legal clarification 1: Socktober is some sort of lark about. Legal clarification 2: You don't need to be a Professional to enter Socktober.
