I just bought my M4 mini for £499 with the £100 educational discount on the apple website. They do check here, but the process is very painless, as you simply have to have a school email address. The verification process took a couple of minutes and was all online.

Not sure if they have a deal on, but Udemy Yearly personal plan is only £180 and has a vast range of courses available for free once you sign up. I prefer it to Pluralsight personally.

Just move to Wonde, they are much better in terms of support and offer exactly the same product but better.

I'd like to see some actually useful AI stuff, like report writing AI generation and performance management reviews from the app. We've had to purchase an AI product for reports and its very good so Would be nice to have this ability in the Bromcom app so teachers could generate or dictate reports quickly.

It's a nice more modern upgrade but the icons look a little small to me.

Best thing to do would be to export as many data objects as you can to CSV I guess.

Mostly because they have recently been upgrading areas to improve the performance. The MCAS user list is a great example of this, it was ok looking before but very slow to load the lists of parents. They changed it now and its much faster but looks like it uses a different UI .net toolkit. They use Angular and Kendo UI and AG Grid I think, if you look at their job postings. Overall it is pretty nice UI for the MIS as a whole, they are constantly updating it which I don't think is a bad thing at all with the speed improvements that come with it.

We use bromcom and its all integrated into the MIS.

done sounds like a good idea. You obviously have to be careful of screen real estate though.

Apple School Manager - Federated domain and conflicts
supportman replied to CHiLL's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Yeh we have 170 username conflicts, no idea why or what to do.... Are you following a guide from somewhere? as I would love to work out how to set this up. -
Since you already have it in excel format, why not just count the columns by computer name?
-
Yeh that's why I went with curved, means your eyes are not too stretched seeing the corners. I do love a big screen though. 27" just isn't big enough for me when I do my web development stuff. There are some 49" ultrawides that are also popular

[bromcom] Moving Documents from one MIS to another
supportman replied to Alis_Klar's topic in MIS Systems
We archived them all off to a folder away from the MIS. If they are needed someone can always search the folder by student ID. Bromcom works very differently and has most of that info in the database, rather than individual documents. Its brilliant once you get going, but try not to fit your old MIS's behaviors into the new MIS, it won't go well. We all had the same questions when we started our migrations, but you quickly realize how much better the approach is without bloating your new MIS. -
They are already designing Sims NextGen in India according to this post: Employee Stories - Anju Panickar - Employee Stories - ParentPay

[bromcom] Moving Documents from one MIS to another
supportman replied to Alis_Klar's topic in MIS Systems
I wouldn't migrate the documents personally. We just used SalamanderSoft to archive them to a Sharepoint folder. Haven't looked at them since -
Really tempted by this for home https://www.bee-link.com/products/beelink-ser9-ai-9-hx-370?variant=46822393544946 Its just about the fastest small PC you can buy. Will be great to finally get rid of my noisy tower PC!!

A1 + P1 here as well. All we need it for really is conditional access so we can lock down accounts to the UK

Just bought a 32inch Dell curved 4k screen to upgrade my 27" https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BVWCP8RK/

Are ESS trying to make it harder to migrate away from to SIMS?
supportman replied to Ditto's topic in MIS Systems
Yep you hit the nail on the head. If they started from scratch with a new system then they would be no where near in comparison with other MIS's and everyone would simply move. So their strategy is to lock schools into contracts, scare them into not moving, tie them into a hosted solution and make it difficult to move away with claims of breaching copywrite. This all comes back to the legacy code debt built up from years of poor development practices. Outsourcing development didn't help either! I'm guessing there probably was a programmer somewhere saying they should fix the fundamentals before adding new features and the big scary outsourcing company ignored them and looked at the short term profits instead. Then along came the private equity company thinking they were onto a cash cow stream of income that could be massively improved only to find the foundations were made of sand. -
I can't find this setting, have the latest admx as well. Anyone have it on theirs?
-
Yep all that advanced stuff can be done with power automate most likely. Personally we use the helpdesk to track our jobs and send status emails and don't overthink it, but its pretty extensible with power automate and of course SSO is really easy

Microsoft Lists does everything Freshdesk does and is free and great design. I have no idea why people use dedicated helpdesks these days.

We moved from Sims >> Bromcom. Transition was easy, honestly nothing to worry about at all. Prices are all vaguely similar and most providers will match each others quotes if requested. I don't think any of the major players have anything missing from the feature list these days except maybe sims Don't forget you can keep any finance software you have (we kept Sage 200) or take on the MIS provided one but obviously that's going to cost a bit more. Overall its an easy decision to leave Sims in my opinion, but do get each provider in and test out the systems. We went with what felt best in terms of the interface and don't regret it.
