Cost of living crisis 2022 - what have you cut back on?
supportman replied to Ditto's topic in General Chat
Gas is generally more effecient when heating water, but who knows with the recent price increases. -
Anyone know how to remove a behavior point from a student that was accidently added?

We've used both Salamander and Locker. I prefered Locker as it has a GUI you can understand and do things yourself. Both are good though.

Maybe try and get a few windows laptops and simulate a wireless capacity fill. Then check if a similar thing happens. Then you can issolate wether its your wireless, chromebooks or some kind of network issue.

Still slow but looks like its resolved now.

SIMS connected (avoid like the plague)
supportman replied to HereIGoAgain2601's topic in MIS Systems
Why on earth would anyone choose a RDP solution over pure cloud? I just don't understand that decision. Saying that, some full cloud providers are having issues today. Hopefully resolved now but still... -
Teacher app appears to be working OK, allthough a bit slow. Looks like they are over capactity.

Make sure the user is a current member of staff, if its not showing in linked staff then you need to work out why. Try the filters.

O365 - Teams and moving to new Classes for the year
supportman replied to Warwick_Tech's topic in Cloud Services
They don't sync after the first import, but teachers are aware of how to add or remove members. We've not had any issue with this system so far. Certinaly worked a lot better than the auto SDS sync. -
O365 - Teams and moving to new Classes for the year
supportman replied to Warwick_Tech's topic in Cloud Services
No we use class distribution lists that sync from Bromcom/Salamander. Teacher just has to type in the class list name to add all students. -
[bromcom] Randomly unable to connect via Chrome
supportman replied to Oaktech's topic in MIS Systems
No issues here, we are using Edge. Availablity seems good. -
O365 - Teams and moving to new Classes for the year
supportman replied to Warwick_Tech's topic in Cloud Services
We just create teams manually and name them with a year such as 2021-2024 for work that goes over multiple years. Found it much easier than using auto rollovers or whatever. We allow the teachers to make these teams but give them guidance and naming structure. -
We just do it on our tills, much easier to be honest.

9 New teaching rooms fitted with Teaching walls and Smart board 6000s screens. Going well so far but we shall see next week when the students return...

Yes bad idea to import documents, just bloats the new system. We just keep the old Sims virtual machine turned off. But ready to use if ever needed.

Well if you buy cheap, don't expect amazing results. Both Arbor and Bromcom are fantastic cloud MIS's built from the ground up. I'd also include the new iSams product in there. I don't know of any other MIS's that re as good as those, anything else is a big gamble I would say.

Aldrige Education (10 Schools) >> Bromcom Bromcom on Twitter: "Welcome aboard, @aldridgeonline

I think the XML files are compatible with word. Just open them in word to test out, or batch rename to docx. We did not import the linked documents into Bromcom, thats a really bad idea which would bloat the new system. We kept them in a archive on our old file system. I've never used them and they were soon forgotten about by staff. I still keep a copy just in case.

What do you recommend - Cloud based Library software.
supportman replied to Jaan's topic in Educational Software
Softlink Oliver cloud works well. We have Bromcom as well, I think its a CSV import of users but not hard. -
Salmander tool is brilliant, very quick and easy to do. Although I echo what is said above, i've never actually needed them once we moved MIS. Bromcom doesnt need extra documents, as it has many of those features built in such as medical records.

If its an 18650 battery then the voltage range should be from about 2.5v to 4.2volts. 4.2 being 100%. Something like this can charge them https://www.amazon.co.uk/Durapro-Universal-Intelligent-Rechargeable-Batteries/dp/B073P63NSV

[bug/error] Site is pushing to HTTP
supportman replied to CyBeRkId2002's topic in EduGeek.net Site Problems
@ZeroHour do you need some help with this at all? I've migrated several VBulliten forums to XenForo in the past with success. The best thing to do in my experience, is upgrade to a simple basic forum then add any customisations over time. Also whack it on cloudflare for their auto SSL and you should have a nice modern forum going forwards, with ddos protection and advanced firewall and rate limiting. -
Sounds like the west sussex schools will be completed in July, doubt they will show in the next census numbers though.
