Yeah this is why we ended up going with Bromcom as a maintained School, their finance system was fully compatible with our LA whereas Arbor wasn't at the time so that limited our options a bit. (Not sure if anything's changed now) We were nervous around the finance move but it's working well so far thankfully.

We use PHS compliance - they charge us £97.00 for the first 75 items and £0.89 per item thereafter. Microwaves are charged at £4.00 Happy to recommend as they just crack on with it.

Really strange DNS issue over VPN, please help!
russlp replied to AB_IT's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We have something similar happening here - only for some users but we use SoftEther VPN. We've not changed anything recently so my money is on either Windows Updates or ISP issues. Still investigating! -
Are they definitely booting as UEFI? Check BIOS is set to UEFI only. I have a feeling that windows logo means its legacy - if UEFI you'd get a HP logo and the loading animation... I might be wrong but worth a check!

Got to the bottom of this today - our clevertouch TV's were sharing their network connection via USB which was being added as an additional nic - we turned off the setting: "Allow the IFP to share network with USB connected device" on the android settings and the issue has gone. Happy Friday!

Nothing nope, only our 2 DC's. The only thing we have on 192.168.100.X are our unifi switches and they are set to relay DHCP to our DC's. DHCP guarding is also on. I've ran some tools to look for rogue DHCP and haven't found anything and Wireshark doesn't show anything other than our 2 DC's - I've not managed to pry an affected device off a teacher yet. They are laptops that have a wired and wireless nic so not sure if it's something to do with that or not...

Yes they can - We use softether vpn - we have a rule that stops them connecting via the vpn when in school - and the vpn server only offers IP's on the same vlan e.g 10.45.X.X as well.

I've noticed we have a few odd entries in our DNS for some of our AD joined teacher laptops. These only seem to appear for devices on our staff vlan. I've checked for rogue DHCP, turned off our DHCP (no ip is offered) but random clients seem to get these odd IPs rather than the 10.45.X.X ones they should be getting. Any ideas what else could cause this? Thanks

Just an update for anyone interested: all ok now - some microsoft / cpoms related domains had been blocked by cloudflare as newly registered domains in error. The PDNS team have sorted this issue and all is working again. Russ

Morning, Anyone else having issues with CPOMS login today? We get a not found message when logging in and more worrying, some staff are getting redirected to a page blocked by NCSC protective DNS 😬
-
We're just about to go Unifi here, core and edge.
-
We're having this issue here too.

These reports might be useful: https://faq.scomis.org/kb2395768/ and: https://faq.scomis.org/kb2395957/ for FMS We used RecordLink to extract all linked docs as well. Russ

I'm trying to get this data out of SIMS after our migration - have 7 days worth - 7 Marks per child per day. I've got as far as getting the 5 lesson marks etc but not sure how to include the 2 AM/PM marks as well? any ideas? I've put attendance > mark AM/PM but that just puts "AM/PM" on the results.

[Rant] GCSEPod Support - How in the world?
russlp replied to CHiLL's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Yeah it's weird - I can't read the replies they send via email so always have to log in. Saying that, once I had logged a call they were pretty helpful! -
Glad it's not just us!

Transitioning from Hosted SIMS with Scomis—Arbor, Bromcom, or SIMS Next Gen?
russlp replied to kwatt's topic in MIS Systems
We've gone with option 1 (with finance) Staff really wanted the peace of mind of having Scomis to help with the how to's. We're still very early on in our journey (only just put order form in) but looking to move MIS in Jan and Finance in Feb - I think Scomis are trying to form a buyers club, where they can get great deals e.g. low cost, finance, integration, and hosting & support by Scomis, so I'd definitely recommend speaking to your account manager to discuss your options. -
Are ESS trying to make it harder to migrate away from to SIMS?
russlp replied to Ditto's topic in MIS Systems
It's such a bizarre email! Scomis have never suggested what MIS we should consider. Desperate times. -

More love from ESS -
Anybody else using the copy start2.bin method - having the settings icon appear for all users, despite it not being in the pinned items when the file is created? Can't seem to get rid of it and it wasn't there until recently.
