1. Hi All, I've had this query today and didn't really have an answer as I tend to install word and run... but I wondered if anyone has any thoughts and suggestions at all? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
2. Same here, at least we aren't replying on it eh? ...
3. We use nationwide at the moment but I think that will change around April time. I'll have a look at Cunningham as this might be useful for future tender. Many thanks
4. Hi All, I was just wondering if anyone knows of a system, preferably an app which parents can use to order school meals? We are a secondary school looking to allow staff and parents to order food for break and lunch in advance via an app where they can either pre pay and top up their accounts or pay as you go. We'd also like it to have support for Pupil Premium e.g those parents would not have to pay or have a automated balance and some support for staff duty meals would also be great. SIMS link would also be perfect. Our catering providers are not being too helpful so we're on our own a bit. Does such a product exist? Many thanks
5. Where did you set this? Cheers
6. Hi @forkies, Did you have any luck with this in the end? We are having similar issues here :/
7. We don't use .local - it's possible the chromebooks don't like it. Just out of interest, can you reach any of the PaperCut urls on your chromebooks? (They should show a list of printers JSON) http://:9163/printers http://:9163/printers http://rpc.pc-printer-discovery.:9163/printers and your ssl is ok? http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/211017-chromeos-printing-via-papercut-mobility-print.html
8. I used this guide: https://www.normanbauer.com/2018/04/18/configuring-dhcp-option-119-domain-search-list-on-a-windows-dhcp-server/ but used this command first to add the option: netsh dhcp server add optiondef 119 "Domain Search List" byte 1 comment="DNS search path" and then used the script in the above link and it worked (once renewing the lease) Worth checking the SSL cert as well as DalekSec says but ours was ok.
9. I noticed that the Chromebooks were trying to connect to: http://rpc.pc-printer-discovery:9163/printer and similar urls, (note missing the search domain) and despite me adding this to the proxy bypass they were still hitting the smoothwall. For some reason Smoothwall wasn't resolving that address so, in Smoothwall, I went to: Network > DNS and added a Static DNS host for 'rpc.pc-printer-discovery' to resolve to my print server and it all sprang to life!
10. I've been doing the same today! Have you got multiple DC's? - check it's replicated the DHCP to both if you have. Delete the lease as well and try again, it should then pick it up. I also had to do some tweaking to Smoothwall as the chromebooks still wouldn't show any printers even with the search domain added.
11. @DalekSec Did you have any luck? We're having the same issue here! Everything is working except no printers showing on our Chromebooks.
12. oooh I can come and see a Glide in real life instead of just drooling over your emails!
13. Yes, we had issues for months - our site was often down at points. We moved to 1&1 ionos and it's now lightning fast and cheap!
14. We had this a while ago, especially on 1709 - we ended up disabling Web Control in Sophos Central and the blue screens stopped.
15. We use HostingSystems, https://hostingsystems.uk/businessemail/exchangeserverfeed/ Pretty affordable and works really well - we found it catches more than PureMessage ever did. Not sure if they do outgoing scanning too but sure they would be happy to help.
16. We're a large secondary and use Foldr for this. It's not too expensive for us so might be affordable for a Primary? Might be a bit over engineered maybe, but though I'd mention it. https://foldr.io/solutions/education-solutions
17. Same for us, @johnlevis was the cheapest of our quotes too.
18. We use this one: free, and works perfectly https://www.burconix.com/software/download-change-password
19. Dell kept changing their Series so we used to end up replacing docking stations as well which got expensive. But if you're buying say an E series then they are a perfect addition. Our teachers have had them for years with no issues! Got some E series ones lying around if anyone wants them... We've now gone to USB-C lenovo docks and they work great here, work well on Apple devices too. We've secured the cables to the desks though as it seems USB-C cables are becoming very desirable...
20. This is because the folder name is missing at the end of your path: should be: \\server\homefolders$\%username%\Downloads same for favorites too...
21. We are using USB-C docking stations with our new teacher laptops. They are Lenovo laptops with Lenovo ThinkPad USB-C Docks - all working really well at the moment - teachers seem to cope with plugging the one cable in.
22. Yes, I think your're right. Our original certificates were created a while ago and didn't have all the extensions that the new ones do.
23. I've just regenerated our certificates as RSA, 4096-bit instead of RSA, 2048-bit and this has fixed the problem!
24. yep, all the same. Working fine on the previous versions of Chrome OS but not 70!
25. Hi Tammie, We are having the same issue here. Did you manage to solve it at all? Many thanks
