Boy, Oh, boy, am I fed up with the whole Olympics 2012 thing. When London was announced as the winning venue I thought it was a great idea. Now, however, I am totally fed up with it all and it's not actually started yet! Twenty seven million quid on the opening ceremony today. Someone is taking the country for a ride and having a laugh. That money could have done so much good. Three million on the Olympic Rings dangling under Tower Bridge - another crazy waste of money. Lloyds TSB by all acounts bunging £80 million on sponsorship which has brought us those stupid puppet adverts saying how the bank has made much of the Olympic torch relay possible. The ticket allocation debacle where genuine sport supporters have not been able to get tickets yet sponsors seem to have them in abundance. Our sorely stretched armed forces being dragged in to prop up G4S on security. This is all so sad and quite frankly a disgrace. Come to think of it that's the same bank which came in with a three point two billion pound loss. The one owned by us the taxpayers!

Hey - not fair comment that. We had a superb real bikey chap here in Devizes who took over the local bike shop and gave first class service and value but unfortunately although all the proper cyclists supported him he just couldn't compete with Halfords and the online retailers. Sadly his business eventually folded and he now works in the local Halfords where his customers get first class service and advice.

Yep; sadly whatever political colour almost all our politicians seem to fail to measure up. If only they would work together toward getting the country back on it's feet and stop the finger pointing trying to blame their predecessors all the time. I don't know what would work - proper coalition perhaps? Sure as heck it's about time someone got a real grip and demonstrated some much needed leadership.

The sponsors advertisements are a pretty good clue as to where to look first for kit and services as well.

Our school is undergoing a full electrical rewire now. The contractor agreed to provide dedicated separate power to the server room but trying to remote in just now I see the DC listed as having been down for 35 hours. This could be just the fact that the contractor has killed power to the network switches that supply the server room. On the other hand it could b the servers have not had the power as promised. What issues are we going to run into if it's the latter?

Looking on the Apps review I see in bold DO NOT TRUST THIS APP ? All about a requirement to sign in to the originator of the Apps servers by the look of it?

SIMS is our MIS and now primarily to gain use of Bromcom’s Teachers Web Folder we have signed up to that to run alongside SIMS which will allow staff secure access to the school system from home or elsewhere; we understand this will allow registers etc to be securely taken using an iPad. I can’t say I’m very comfortable with the arrangements to set up the TWF, where if I understand it correctly, Bromcom want me to install Logmein for them to use with a local admin account on the SIMS server to allow access. I must say I’m much more comfortable with the SIMS Lan Desk where I have to allow the access. Am I just being paranoid or am I misunderstanding the situation?

I'm just starting to have an explore on the whole Cloud thing and pointers where to look would be mighty handy please. We are a Key Stage 3 all boys special school with circa 70 students who have various levels of behavioural and emotional difficulties plus we have circa 50 staff. A small handful of the boys are very IT savvy and sadly some are at the other end of that spectrum.

One of the reasons we find purchasing from Misco such a complete service is this very aspect. I have been in similar situations and just contacting my account Michael Hinchliffie sees proof of purchase as a PDF in my inbox within no time. In fact I have recently been going through a similar hoop with HP over extended warranties. I'm sure other suppliers no doubt are also up to this but to me this is after service from Misco that would be hard to match.

A couple we know have been through the process and are now a very happy family with an absolute delight of a little chap they adopted. He is a lucky little fellow as they too bring something special to being parents. The very best to you both.

Oh yea - so there with you on that. The 2012 Olympics already sucks as far as I'm concerned as it's just like Christmas and the other Festive occasions - hijacked by commercialism and how can professional sports people who earn big career money in all honesty partake in what should surely be amateur sports?

Then there are the really annoying adverts where someone is whispering - one at the moment for posh hotel booking and the cringing catchphrase / tunes that run alongside the likes of Danone products!

Our Admin staff have just accessed some results they were waiting for the .x55 extension filename.x55 is not one I have come across before it tries by default to open with Adobe Reader x but fails to open. Tried it with Foxit and that doesn't open it either? Anyone else come across this?

The new Go Compare advert staring Sue Barker almost makes me want to sign up as a customer YouTube - Broadcast Yourself the BT new advert with the soppy actors on the other hand totally ensures I never have a home hub!

Only really good things I see the are a plus for the iPad is that you lift the cover and it's ready fired up to go, second good point is the current fact that it's built in security seems to be better than that on a PC - currently, that is!

Moving off thread for a mo - there have been some fabulously helpful replies to this OP for which I'd usually add a thanks or at least add rep. For some unknown reason the Thanks button is not visible (is it just to me) on this thread and also the rep button is not working for all replies, clicking on rep for the reply from GrumbleDook for example brings up a shortened version of the Rep box with no options in it? Could the Admins have a gander at this please?
