I have a recurring problem where some of our students are experiencing save problems with both HP 625 Laptops running 32 bit Windows 7 and HP Z200 workstations running Windows 7 64 bit. Saves fine for staff but won't save at all for students yet their home folder is on the desktop and work can be opened from it in Office. This problem is driving me nuts!!

I'm looking for a recommended supplier for a replacement screen for a Toshiba Sat Pro C660D -185Part No: PSC1ZE-003002EN - that's the Laptop part No not the screens!

I'm a Network Manager part time in a KS3 special school with circa 70 students. We are moving to timetabling with SIMS T6. There is talk that I might be the member of staff picking up the task with extra hours. I'm rather undecided to say the least. What is the opinion amongst you good folk please?

We have one HP dx2450 running XP Pro that persistently fails to cleanly close down. Mainly it's if the machine is left on, despite having standby turned off it attempts to go into stand by then comes up with a message "preparing to standby". I'm thinking of doing an upgrade or fresh install to Windows 7 - or is this a known problem with this machine? BIOSD etc up to date.

We are a KS3 Special School for boys with behavioural issues, class size maximum of 8 and have a new classroom coming to life in the near future for ICT use. We want to kit it out suitably with 8 separated desks, a teacher workstation and IWB. Yesterday we had a presentation from I-desk Anyone else running an i-desk set up in similar circumstances in the area who could recommend it please?

Today I had a Windows 7 PC with a borfed HD. Putting a new HD in I then used Clonezilla to deploy an image stored from what I thought was this PC after it's last rebuild. Turned out I was wrong and it was actually from a similarly named client. The image went on fine and joined the network ok and I have since renamed the workstation. What problems am I likely to run into because the image was from another Windows 7 machine that had not been sysprepped? Secondly would I be now better off building an image to hold on one of our 2008 R2 servers - if so using what?

We have a Richo Afico GX e3350N printer that came free from Probrand just over 2 years ago, it's had fairly light use and we recently purchased a new set of cartridges for it. However, it won't work now coming up with a message saying load paper tray or form feed the tray is full and it seems the 2sensor2 needs replacing. Has anyone else who had one of these "freebies" experienced the same problem? My suspicion is that it's going to cost more than the printer is worth to get it fixed but the annoying thing is we have just shelled out over £100 for new cartridges!

This Error message when you run a compiled Microsoft Access MDE, ACCDE, or ADE file in Access 2010: "The database cannot be opened because the VBA project contained in it cannot be read" seems to explain what we are experiencing - I can't see why it is only affecting some - not all students?

When the chaps from Impero set ours up certain client machines were not added and others were put into the Staff User group. Reading the comment by @russdev above I'm going to look into that further toward setting up a Group that have the Staff in so that the settings listed can be applied to the Group - in case they log on to any of the student client machines.

I don't think it has been yet but if ever Mo Hayder's The Devil of Nanking is turned into a film then that fabulously well written book would sure as heck make one totally scary movie. An absolutely fabulous read and although written as a novel based in no small part on historical fact.

I'm currently setting a classroom up with an Apple TV and would like some best practice advice on keeping things set up and tidy. The classroom currently has an XP workstation that connects straight to the SmartBoard integrated sweet up (Smarts own built in projector) with the board being used as the only monitor as well. Currently to run the Apple TV it's a case of unplugging the VGA and plugging the Apple TV in. That results in the set up page being displayed on the SmartBoard and for obvious reasons I don't want the wireless password visible during set up. Is there an obvious was round this - by keeping the Apple TV live and using a KVM splitter perhaps?

Personally I would uninstall the Starter Edition plus any other trial products as they just get in the way and bloat start. Up.

In recent weeks we have had a reoccurrence of a problem that previously visited us with Office 2010 on student logins - flaming thing isn't saving. Previously it seemed to be resolved after SP1 of Office 2010 was applied but now it's back. Message from a teacher today as an example: We've been having the same old trouble with the VBA problems when using MS Access. The odd thing is if Im logged on to any machine its fine, ditto Another staff member ditto the few kids who don't play PC games. Therefore Im thinking its an issue relating to individual profiles. A usable solution would therefore seem to me to set up 8 new blank accounts to just use for GCSE work. Is this easyish? ICT1, ICT2 etc with same for passwords This is a 2008 Domain with a mix of XP Pro and Windows 7 clients. Same problem on MS Word for many of the students. I'm wondering if something in recent updates has borfed this up, anyone else had similar problems.
