  1. Any recommendations on developers to speak to - I don't think we have any advertising on here yet?
  2. Oh how I wish thanks / add to rep were enabled to me on this thread? How do you guys then get round the requirement to print out immediately at the end of the exam?
  3. Thanks John, This is this is the book my teacher was quoting from. Tried to give you a thanks / rep but neither currently available?
  4. Nice clean and refreshing look.
  5. A couple of large schools I know have recently replaced / or are in the process of replacing excellent in house web sites with bought in services. Seems a strange development in the light of economic circumstances - I'd have thought it far more economical to remain in house. Is this happening elsewhere? P.S. Congrats to the Edugeek team on the revamp of the forum - nice refreshing clean look.
  6. Done - good well thought out survey.
  7. Prior to redundancy in the Primary I used to be Tech in (for 7 years) I ran KS 1 and KS2 ICT Clubs. Used to love running it and apart from the superb Sherston Mega Bundle software - Microsoft Office etc used to let them have a reward slot at the end of the club where they could go onto safe games from friv4school.com.
  8. Not sure if this is the right place for this thread - over to the Mods on that one. Our maths teacher approached me today and said she had received info that for the exams (we are KS3 EDB) the school has to provide the students with workstations / laptops that are internet blocked (we can do that with Impero - if it's not been priced beyond our reach by then) but also don't have spell check enabled plus there are a few other stipulations she wasn't quite clear about. Anyone got something readable on this?
  9. Interesting post MrWu, I take it you and SYNACK are running pretty big establishments - with pretty hefty budgets. Makes the set up I inherited sound like peanuts - it was a single Windows 2003 Server and circa 80 clients on XP with SIMS running in the Admin office also off an XP machine in 2007; now expanded to a 2008 standard curriculum tower with a 2008 R2 as second DC and SIMS server, mix of Win 7 and XP clients 130 all told, about a dozen MACs and Mini Mac Server. I suppose now I need to start looking toward exploring the ways forward into the next few years?
  10. Well spotted Rob - just seeing if anyone was paying attention
  11. Can anyone point me toward the regulations re network cabling please - our school has an electrical rewire over the summer and to me it seems logical to replace any of the older network cables as well which I guess were put in circa 1985 iss so I'm sure they will be the old grey not low haz ones?
  12. Signed, Facebook shared and tweeted!
  13. Voted now
  14. Oh, why, oh, why, oh, why is it that they all HAVE to tinker with the system. How about we do it one final time and look at a leading academic country (one of the Scandinavian Countries I suspect) that has a proven record of getting it right and adopt their well established system rather than have this endless disruption?
  15. Fingers and toes crossed for you Jobos.
  16. That sounds very unlike the level of service I have experienced from Dell Server Support - I just used it actually as I was head scratching when it came to labeling a new media set for Backup Exec 12.5, the extremely helpful chap from Dell remoted in and ran through it with me. First Class service that I reckon whereas you sound like you had a bit of a brush off?
  17. Ah, that sounds hopeful then mate as they usually come with a 3 year warranty. Recently, got my DC a 3 year extension for a verity reasonable price. Very reassuring to be able to pick up the phone to one of their experts (based in Ireland I believe) and find it's a problem they are aware of and can quickly solve.
  18. In your position I'd give EduMac of this Parish a shout Education Mac, Apple Education Consultant I was in a similar situation and bought a Mini Mac Server to form a Magic Triangle Ross (for a very reasonable fee) came in and set it all up for me. Saved mr a load of grief and my Art Teacher is now happy Mac user!
  19. Just a thought but in my last school I had a problem with a Dell Server and even though it was out of warranty their Server Helpdesk sorted it for me. Dell Server Support is Top Notch as far as I'm concerned and as a result I tend to stick to their servers given the choice.
  20. I'd be interested to see how you get on with this - I have been trying to set one up in my school for a while now and never succeeded.
  21. Thanks Glenda - yes we are behind the SWGFL filter; and tigerstar On my GP I don't get the InPrivate appearing in Internet Explorer?
  22. Where in Server 2008 R2 group policy would I need to look to turn off InPrivate browsing on our network.
  23. Come our renewal time it will be very interesting to see who can quote us best. We have Impero now and it's doing all we want and support is fab but the price might drive us into other arms come the time.
  24. Have you asked SIMS Support Tel: 08448938000 To date they have always been able to solve my SIMS issues.
