When this has happened with us it's normally in closed Facebook groups which are not indexed by search engines, or on individual walls. If that's the case, the only way you're going to find out about it is through the grapevine or if someone with access tells you directly. If the comments are accessible publicly, use the reporting feature and quote which part of FB's ToS it violates back to them in the report. It's not terribly effective even when you can use it, but there's little else you can do. Legally I don't think you can't impose contractual terms on parents that restrict public criticism, even when it's nasty, so you don't have much legal recourse unless it amounts to libel/slander.

I like to point out that as well as DECT phones, many baby monitors work on the 2.4GHz spectrum, and no-one's banning baby monitors. The problem is that as soon as people bash something like "wireless network radiation" into Google and see 4 million results, they assume the worst, even though the quality (and relevance) of those results is quite poor. As a counter to that, put in "wireless network perfectly safe" and you get 67 million results. Now, I'm not claiming that quantity of Google hits on a specific term means they are safe; on the contrary, it shows how meaningless such a selective search can be, but that's the sort of thing a lot of people base their opinion on.

I don't know about the IN112, but I've installed a few IN104's here and they are nice solid bits of kit. Personally I would never install another 800x600 projector but if you're happy with the resolution it should be more than up to the job.

Perhaps if they stopped outsourcing most of their development to contractors and had some competent management they wouldn't be hard up enough to need this. A friend of mine used to work as a contractor in the UK for Capita (left about a year ago) and he made an absolute killing out of the job. His experience was that there is an almost complete lack of project management, so requirements changed frequently and Capita end up paying through the nose for changes to agreed specifications.

What is currently available on Live@Edu will remain free. When it becomes Office 365 for Education there will be additional functionality you can opt to pay for, but the current offering remains free. I've been reluctant to expose an authentication server to the outside, which is partly why I took the approach I did (that and it was easy). GADS doesn't offer any way of syncing passwords other than storing the hash, so by 'default configuration', I meant 'default if you use GADS'.

Are you trying to take ownership on the server or on another machine via the shared path? If the latter, try logging in to the server and doing it there.

We have Google Apps for education here and are reasonably happy with it, but I'd have to disagree with some of the above. 1. Google Docs storage is not "unlimited". The full details are here, but essentially while you'd be hard pushed to create native Google Docs documents that hit the limit, any files uploaded that are limited to 1GB of storage space. 2. Document collaboration is pretty good, but when it comes to using Google Docs for anything you ever want to use outside of Google Docs (i.e. you want to print or download it), it falls down. Pagination is horribly broken in any browser except Chrome when you print or download, so if you want kids to work on documents that will be printed for display, it is pretty frustrating. I'd agree it is definitely easier to get AD sync working with Google Apps, though it's not very secure in its default configuration due to the way it stores password hashes. I'd still choose Google Apps over Live@Edu for primary, if for no other reason that being able to disable services you don't want (e.g. Google Talk), but I'm not so sure about secondary.

I do have some branded t-shirts for holiday use, and those were at my own request (and are optional). During term time I dress the same as the teaching and administrative staff. Only the grounds and kitchen staff wear uniform during term time, but that's because smart clothes would be destroyed by the work they do. If your normal dress is as smart as the teachers I'd be interested to hear their justification for you having to change.

I would strongly advise against 3Sys. We switched to PASS a couple of years ago, and added 3Sys when it was released. I hate to ruin bodminman's day so close to the end of term, but although we were also impressed with the demo, we have had a lot of problems with it since that fateful day. Right now we have 14 issues still outstanding with WCBS support, more than one of which has DPA implications. The longest has been with them since October 2010. If the error is being reported as Issued by "smoothwall.domain.local" as the OP noted, will it not be looking for a CRL from the Smoothwall issuer, not the original issuer?

You might not want to do away with the grill: Dell servers are designed to have that much airflow, so if you can find something custom, be sure it doesn't restrict ventilation.

Are you using HTTPS interception? We get the same error if we turn HTTPS interception on, and Smoothwall claim no-one else has reported it to them, so please raise a ticket if this is the case!

The newer versions of Exchange have much better webmail interfaces, so might be worth another look if you've only used older versions. Most of our staff don't even use Outlook in school, the webmail is good enough that they don't need anything more.

If it's an Intel motherboard, have a read through this including the linked threads about BIOS recovery.

I don't have one on our UPS any more as we have management cards in them now, but I have used one in the past and it seemed to work well. Also good for demonstrating to disbelieving Bursars how efficient Sleep mode is on modern PCs!

If all else fails, get a power usage meter like this and plug it between your UPS and the mains. As long as the UPS power draw isn't over 13A (probably isn't, but check the fuse) it will work just fine. Obviously take the reading when the UPS is not recharging!

I buy these Maxell ones from Supplies for Schools at 43p each. They charge £6 for delivery though so only worth it if you are buying a few or buying with other things.

Ours is on. With Windows 7 it's very easy to centrally manage any exceptions you need, so I couldn't see a good reason to turn it off. All it takes is one infected USB stick and your AV solution to miss it, and suddenly you've got the next Conficker all across your network.

Personally I find outdoor laser tag to be more fun than paintball, as for novices in particular it removes the frustration of being 1-shotted right at the start of a round. A lot of the paintball places do it now as an alternative. Also means that if you happen to be going to a swimming pool immediately afterwards you won't get strange looks from everyone for being covered in welts, like we were at one stag do I attended. Go Ape is also really good fun if there's one near you.
