  1. I read about this today firstly on Twitter whilst walking around Cardiff. Shocking. Absolutely shocking. It's difficult to understand what drives a person to take their own lives. I guess we will never find out. An amazing footballer who was turning the Welsh international team around. His record speaks for itself. I listened to Radio Wales on the way home this evening - there was a special programme on. Upsetting to listen to people talking about him with the sense of belief. I've just watched the Robbie Savage interview on the BBC website - brought a tear to my eye. RIP Gary Speed. Gareth
  2. I like the look of this Dell stuff but maybe will need some help configuring what I will need. I will want 2 R710 servers and 1 SAN - but am not sure what. I may have to start with 1 R710 and move from there. We don't really need the heartbeat stuff but will need to backup our virtual machines. Any help in the near future will be appreciated. I'm starting to put our bid together now. What server spec have you got for your R710s and SAN? Did you get them direct from Dell? Gareth
  3. Well after moving to Office 2010 we found the same issue with Access so a quick search (again) through Google found the following: This information came from: Access 2007 Idiot Question - Resizing forms - Access World Forums Makes Access databases look a lot nicer. Regards Gareth
  4. I've not written one up in ages, but when I do have to provide ideas for my Line Manager I make sure every educational angle is covered. Don't just say you need new computers - tell them how it will benefit the pupils. That goes for everything you need to replace. Then the next angle is staff productivity and staff confidence. I have a plan in my head. Gareth
  5. Any idea where this is held? We are on 2.1.2c of the Embedded. The Altman website notes that 4.1.0.0 is out. Gareth
  6. Tell me more.... Gareth
  7. Afternoon, Is there an issue that sees FMS fail to work with a mapped network printer? We are having this issue and have been told by our LEA support that it needs to be a local printer. This is a pain as we are trying to remove local printers that cannot be put against cost centres in pCounter. Any advice appreciated (or workarounds), Cheers Gareth
  8. Good afternoon People, Well we have finished our research into the issues. We have found further issues and inconsistencies which seem to result from the system not being setup properly when it was done so by the people involved at the time. Both I and @rich_tech have been working for a good week now on irorning out issues and making sure all costs are done properly. Once we thought one issue was sorted, another issue would come to light. Anyhow things are looking better. But yesterday we discovered that A3 duplex wasn't being counted properly. So I contacted another school and they had seen the same issue. The difference being they have been given a firmware update for the server and copiers. Thus fixing the issue. Naturally I was not amsued - we had a Konica engineer out yesterday and he didn't say anything. Gareth
  9. I'm still not sure. My school will not allow it. Gareth
  10. That's what I thought - but they will be paying the VAT. It is still a lot cheaper. I'll check the VAT situation. Gareth
  11. Yeah - I'm not doing it. A colleague has just done it through the school where his wife works. I told him we couldn't do it as a school but he is adamant we can because his wife's school did it for him. 'Don't do this' - good advice - but why? Why do you say that? What rule is it? Where is it written? The school in question have told them that it's being used for school work so why not take advantage? Gareth
  12. Morning I have been told this morning by a colleague that they have purchased ciomputer through a school (at a discounted price) and are paying the school back - making use of the school discount - which is a lot more than the personal educational/teacher discount they would otherwise get. They are saving a packet. I've always been told that we cannot do this and that it is against some sort of rule. Can anyone confirm? Is it allowed in your school as long as the school get their money back? Cheers Gareth

  14. It's all gone for £230. Gareth
  15. I went last year with my Dad and again this year. Didn't seem as big, but did seem all squashed into the middle. I have an issue this year with the snobbyness of some of the exhibits. Some of the stands and clubs were just rude. Gareth
  16. Evening, Anyone know what Game are offering for trade in values for Wii systems? I have some kit here including the steering wheels, light sabers, Wiifit board etc etc. Cheers Gareth
  17. Did anyone go to Warley today (or is going tomorrow?) or are there no model railway fans on Edugeek? Gareth
  18. believe it or not we thought about this. are the bills an estimate - I phoned KM earlier today and they assure me the bills are accurate given readings. plus they are too wildly out of sync to be estimates. I cannot believe their hardware is wrong so it has to be something with pCounter. Gareth
  19. I just cannot work this all out. It's driving me mad. Some quarters we are showing more than Konica and other days they are showing more than us. I've just checked our bills and one printer is showing 21135 between 1 Nov and 17 Nov. pCounter is telling us we've actually done 28511 - a difference of 7376. Yes we benefit from that but I cannot find that figure anywhere. I cannot even work out whether it id duplexed or not. I'm tired now and have seen figures all night. I just do not know. Gareth
  20. I'll check everything tomorrow again. I'm going to vpn in later to get the reports for different printers and update my costing spreadsheet. This is only with one copier. I've not looked at how the others are. Konica are coming out next Wednesday to look at pCounter. I'm also going to log a call with them. Cheers everyone, Gareth
  21. Hi Guys, @ZeroHour - No. We have set up GPOs to stop people accessing or installing printers. @glennda and @plexer - Good point but we have pCounter Embedded on each of our copiers which means if a user goes to make a photocopy they have to log into the copier. This then gets billed to their department. Each Head of Department gets a breakdown during the internal monthly billing period. pCounter lets us create different types of report based on criteria we set. We have it set at the moment to show all clicks and then break them down into black and colour. Thanks guys for the thoughts. Gareth
  22. We originally went back to ASPro3 instead of pushing Inspire out. I believe at the time I wrote my original post we were on the initial release. Now that v1.6 is out I've started looking at the application again and am meeting members of staff to decide the best configuration for them. I'll let you know how we get on with the saving. Gareth
  23. Evening, We are seeing a weird discrepancy in our billing in school in regards to pCounter and the bills provided by Konica Minolta. Every quarter the school Librarian sends a counter reading to Konica. One reading for colour and one for black only. This works for her and she does it religiously. I have come across this issue today when looking into our copying (I've been asked to do it by the Deputy). Here is an example. We received a QTRly bill from KM dated 02/01/2011 - 02/04/2011. The information was: Black - 151,480 and Colour 19,675 The bill has been paid as at that time we had no reason to doubt anything. I've just run the same billing period in pCounter and this is what I was shown: Black - 136,512 and Colour 21,813. As you can see some major discrepancy there. I've done the same thing for QTR2 and 3 as well as running the bills against the current billing period up to today. They all report different to what the Konica machines are showing. What am I missing? I cannot get any of the figures to add up. At all. Am I reporting correctly? Any advice appreciated, Gareth
  24. We considered doing this but thought that maybe the pupils would press F12 when logging on and mess about. I'm sure there is a way to password the F12 but does anyone know? Gareth
  25. +1 - just popped in here to report that. Gareth
