  1. Run a quick search on here for RichProfile.exe. Gareth
  2. weirdly we had some issues - in the end we realised that for every gpo to be applied we had to set permissions - 'Authenticated Users - Read' this worked for us. Maybe those with more knowledge will correct me. Gareth
  3. Yes - we had a quote for Master Collection for the whole site and it was around £8K - for 300 machines. I think I'd rather spend a little bit more to get the full kit (even if Premiere is 64 bit only). Gareth
  4. Well I for one am disappointed with the Adobe announcement today. Adobe Digital School Collection | Adobe UK Schools Blog It comes with Premier Elements and Photoshop Elements. I wonder if it is worth upgrading from the full versions (at CS3) which we have as part of the Master Suite. I don't know - I'm just a tad disappointed. We had a quote today for the packages (I won't say which supplier) Digital School Collection V10 – 50 user licence pack @ £1390 Digital School Collection V10 – 100 user licence pack @ £2383 I just don't know. What do other people think? I still think Adobe have missed a trick here. Gareth
  5. Thanks to those who offered advice on how to do this. I managed to find the old Microsoft AmiPro plug in and installed it into Office 2010. I was then able to save things back without any issues. Phew. Thanks Gareth
  6. For $195 I won't be doing it. Gareth
  7. Morning, I wonder if anyone could convert these AmiPro .sam files to WOrd for me. I've tried reading them in Word 2010 but it doesn't work. I have read of a converter for Word but cannot find it despite my best efforts. Appreciated, Gareth AmiPro Version.zip
  8. As @rich_tech points out the music one was a pain. CS3 is another. Gareth
  9. A bit late but - happy birthday Sir. Gareth
  10. I'm sorry I don't have the name of the site to hand. Not that I would advertise pirate software. GJE
  11. I've been told that the announcement is not happening now until Monday. Gareth
  12. Did you know they now charge for this software for schools? I have the free version but the developer now says the newest version from here: Automate Outlook Profile Deployment is chargable. Gutted and a real shame. Still they have offered it for half price. It is $398 full price. Gareth
  13. My pupils tell me of a site were you can download CS5.5 for a cheap price with downloads available almost immediately. I'm sure you could download it pretty quickly as well if you had a fast Bband connection. Adobe need to make it cheap enough that it doesn't get pirated. Gareth
  14. this is exactly what I was getting at. glad someone could make sense of my ramblings. As it stands I have not heard anything from Adobe on their Twitter - @adobeukedu or on their website. Gareth
  15. SOmetimes I don't know myself what I am getting at. Microsoft finally saw sense in releasing a cheaper license model. Adobe should do the same - get that market share in the schools. Pupils will become familiar with the software and it may (or may not) benefit Adobe in the future when these same pupils go out into the real world. If Creative Suite isn't in the schools then pupils will not hear about it. (Yes we know they will but hopefully you see what I mean). I think if we could get the full master suite for around £1 - 2K per year with updates then I believe more schools would take it on board. The Microsoft license has saved us a fortune and means we could go WIndows 7 and O2K10 - Okay there are free alternatives that I could use. - but I chose not to. Gareth
  16. Still no announcement. GJE
  17. Oh dear. Reading back I can see how my saying "pressure (maybe) at home to purchase" - I'll change that to reflect more what I meant in my head. I didn't actually mean it from a school perspective. We use CS3 but I would never put pressure on the pupils to purchase that software. What I meant (in my head) was that Adobe are rather short sighted in having such a high priced piece of software. If it was cheaper for the schools then it would benefit Adobe (not me or the school) in the long run. I didn't make that clear at all. Gareth
  18. Well I certainly hope that the blog post above isn't the announcement they were going to make. If it is I cannot see us moving to it. We have CS3 Master Suite. I want to see a yearly fee like MS which is so low it tempts the schools to consider it. Again I am a strong believer that our pupils are the future for these companies. If it's in school then it would benefit Adobe as the pupils may/could put pressure on their parents to purchase it (or elements of it). [Edit - I've edited this to reflect more what I meant to say - but that didn't come across in the original message] I'll read it again later to make sure I haven't missed the point again. I'm in a rush. Soirry guys, Gareth
  19. Hi, Well I've put it into the Startup options in the startmenu and it works fine there. Not sure why it will not run as a logon script. So it is working - a bit slow sometimes but it's ok. Weird. Gareth
  20. Hi FN Sorry to ask but what command have you got in your batch file or VBS file? I have: RichProfile.exe %UserName% %username% Y D It has worked as a logon script on one machine but doesn't seem to be working on other machines. Also when it did work it went through the whole process of first run etc. Am I missing something obvious? I wanted to avoid all of that. Also are you running it as a .bat or as a VB Script file. Cheers Gareth
  21. Hi Guys, I want to move my staff members over to Outlook 2010 but cannot find a way of auto-configuring the application. When a user logos onto a workstation and opens Outlook they are presented with the first run window. Three clicks later and the software automatically finds the Exchange server and downloads the mail. but.... if the user moves to another machine then they once again are asked for three clicks to configure the software. We use mandatory profiles and have the Outlook 2010 admx file on our DC - so we can configure it direct. We just cannot find a way to remove these first run clicks. Any advice appreciated, Regards Gareth
  22. I spoke to Adobe UK the other month about this. I'm surprised they are not waiting until BETT2012 to do this. If this is true then hopefully the pricing will hopefully be a lot lower. It's about time they realised our kids are their future. Gareth
  23. Entered. Put my handle in the extra information box. Gareth
  24. Evening all, I read today that Adobe are to make a major education announcement tomorrow - 1st Dec. Hopefully it will me a massive decrease in the license fee for Master Edition. Keep eyes peeled. Gareth
  25. Hi Matt, We didn't follow this path in the end. Deciding instead to use the database functionality. All of our machines are now in the database and names are linked to mac address. Gareth
