It seems to me that once you have a box and the software then unless something major happens it will do what you want forever - regardless of whether they support it. Once it's yours can you then open it and see what hardware is inside? Gareth

Shame really as it's an excellent piece of software. I've been testing the free/old one for over 4 months now and am considering moving it out to staff. The only problem I've come across is that it doesn't hold your signatures. Gareth

We use Impero as a management tool. We have done since Version 2. I like version 3 and the latest version we have is 3.1.16. At BETT the Impero stand was running 3.1.5x - a lot of changes and due for release in February (Russ will correct me). It adds a lot more - including Mac deployment of .img files. At £1000 per year of support it is quite expensive and this year we are looking at other options. However I do like what it offers and it may stay on the network. Gareth

Aaahh - I didn't realise RM sold them. I see several configuration there - do I go for the top one? Correct me if I'm wrong - but I need a Publisher box (I assume the TV card is a good option to show BBC News and Sky) and then a Subscriber box for use in our lobby. Seems simple enough. Gareth

I think it could work but believe they need to create a sub £200 iPad. With the iPad priced at £399 for the cheapest version I believe their is the risk of a two tier education system. I played with the textbook generator today and was mightily impressed. Kids were too in my GCSE class. Gareth

Just jumping in here after a 5 hour journey back from London to my house after dropping my Dad and @rich_tech off (two bad accidents on the motorway - one in Reading and one in Cardiff) - want to say thanks for the welcome at the stand. Yesterday saw my first 10K run. Extremely happy with that but sore this morning. Was quite slow at 1hr 23min so there is the benchmark for future 10k runs. Onwards and upwards. Dropped another 2lbs as well. Am now 205lbs. HOw is everyone else doing post XMas? Gareth

Evening, In Work - whatever comes our way. Virtualising the servers, pushing for more funding. Introduce more programming into the curriculum through Years 7 to 9. IMprove exam results at GCSE and ALevel and push for a new ICT Teacher to help me - a specialist would be nice. At Home - Start the adoption process again and hopefully bring home another (twins would be nice this time). Spend more time with my family (work/life balance). Gareth

In all honesty I'll probably only ever watch 4,5 and 6. I only wanted the bluray stuff for the extras that I may never have seen (although I have seen a few of them). Also the comments made by people regarding the story show that the journo didn't really research but seemed to just be having a pop at Apple. As one comment pointed out a simple Google would have found the answer. Indeed his own newspaper wrote how to solve the issue. Gareth

Evening Awl, I wonder if anyone knows how to make the 3d style adverts currently favoured by Sky Sports (and other Sky TV channels) where the main character in the advert looks raised off the background in a sort of 3d style - the background moves at a different speed. It's sort of the Ken Burns effect but on two seperate layers. I don't know what it's called to google. I have After Effects here for any tutorials but any advice would be amazing. Hopefully someone here will understand the type of adverts I mean. Cheers Gareth
