Tool to find a replace a file on multiple (hundreds) of workstation

If all machines are on then we use Impero to place a file. Gareth -
Hi - what browser are you using? Gareth
-
Yes, on my laptop if you hover over the 'Academics' menu option there is a drop down menu. ON my laptop I can see the first two then it drops behind the pictures. This doesn't happen on my local copy. It also happens on the Expression Engine development: Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr (but under the 'General Information' menu option. I wonder if it's IE9 causing it. The whole site looks useless in other browsers. Gareth

Hi Guys, I'm after a bit of advice. I've started moving a static template into EE. The address of the static example is: College02 As you can see there is a menu in blue across the top. The items turn green when they are hovered over. If there is a drop down then this drops down in green above the image panel. Now when I look a this template on my computer (local copy) the drop downs appear on the top of the image. Yet when I upload the template to the server (address above) the drop down menus do not appear. This happens in both the static and the EE version. Can anyone advise? What am I missing? Many thanks Gareth

Hmm - a nice piece of commercial cms here. I've managed to take a static template and build it into an EE template with embeds etc. All works nicely and my static stuff is getting there. The next job is then to edit the static stuff and replace it with the dynamic stuff. It's a lot nicer than Joomla in my opinion - but then again it is commercial. Maybe I'll start blogging this stuff. Gareth

Evening, Expression Engine is a commercial CMS - I think I've seen it mentioned here before. I wonder if anyone has used it for their school website, and if so could I take a peek. Cheers Gareth

I would love to take the Edugeej 1.5 template and get it upgraded to 1.7. I tried the other week but didn't have a clue what I was doing even though I followed a guide. :-) LOL. I've got a test 1.7 installed in the school space and am playing. :-) Gareth

Anyone got an unopened 16Gb one I can purchase for my father-in-law? Will pay what CPLTD were asking - which was £110 + VAT (postage included). Total was £132.00 Cheers Gareth

Good stuff. Gareth

I'll have it. Cost price + postage?

Just had a phone call from CPLTD saying they couldn't deliver and were refunding the money I had paid. Gutted is not the word. Waited in all day yesterday for a delivery that never came. It's not their fault I guess but like Amazon stock was advertised but not actually in stock. People are slating Amazon. Oh well. You never miss what you didn't have. I'm just gutted for my family members.` Gareth

Hi Ryan, All works well but we use MDT2010 with WDS on the server as well. Get some books in - they are great and also read through this thread. A lot of good tips there. Gareth

Does a terabyte of illegal downloads constitute art? (Wired UK) As Wired ask in their poll - genius or someone trying to be clever. Waste of time if you ask me. GJE

Hi Guys, I've just ordered three. One for school, one for my Dad and one for my Father in Law. All from CPLTD. The two oldies will use it for web browsing and probably for Skype and a colour Kindle. For school? Well I'll let the kids loose on it. Probably put Ubuntu on it or Android in our Geek's Workshop. Thanks CPLTD Gareth

Well Comet did it this evening and the site promptly went down. I had one in my basket but the site crashed. Gutted. Useless. GJE

Useful tools for Technician? Just about to start my first job.

Great topic - is it worth adding the list to the Edugeek Wiki? Gareth -
Just read this @bodminman. As an animal lover I'm gutted for you. We have three Yorkie's in the family (spread over three houses). The eldest was my wife's when she was living at home with her parents and is on his last legs. She had him as a pup when we were courting. It will be sad to see him go. The other two are young. Reminds me when we had our Yorkie. We named him 'Mac' - we brought him home from Knockinwood Kennels in Kidwelly and he was out of sorts. He died overnight - with liver failure (we later found out). My father-in-law said we had to have another straight away or else we would never have one again for fear of the same things happening. Llew has been with us now 7 years. It's never nice. Will you get another? Gareth
