Morning All, Does anyone know of a cracking news widget/plugin for Wordpress - paid or otherwise that would fit in with our new website? I have one but it doesn't really look that nice. The site is: Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr All it needs to do is display the latest posts. I'm not clued up enough to change the CSS to make it look nice - so need something off the shelf. Thanks all Gareth

Last year many of you Edugeek readers helped me win a place in the Runner's World Asics 262 Paris Marathon competition. It was an opportunity that changed my life in more ways than one and I will always be grateful to those who voted (even though I have no idea who you are). A quick registry compare shows that the following keys gets changed when setting Automatic Start. I guess this could then be set by a GPP. HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\ActivHidSerMini\Parameters\ActivPortStart: 0x00000000 to HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\services\ActivHidSerMini\Parameters\ActivPortStart: 0x00000001 and HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\ActivHidSerMini\Parameters\ActivPortStart: 0x00000000 to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\ActivHidSerMini\Parameters\ActivPortStart: 0x00000001 I'll test it later. Hi there, Just jumping into the thread - when you choose 'Automatic Start' in the driver Control Panel what changes? Is it registry? Is it in the profile? Is there something we can change with a .mst? I am aware that the 5.7 driver worked but the 5.9 driver does not - but some flag somewhere must change when it is clicked. Gareth

Oh yes please- that would be amazing. I've just got the php/mysql books out of the school library to start looking into writing my own. It would take a while but your system looked really nice. I wouldn't mind a peek at the admin system. It would be hosted locally in my school. GJE

Can the option be set in the registry or is it a profile thing? It seems that once it has been chosen once it continues to open in the desired mode - with us that is until the user logs off and logs back on.

DOes anyone know of a php/mysql or similar script that will let staff post daily announcements (maybe keep an archive)? Ideally web based? Then I can set the intranet homepage to display them? I'm tempted to learn how to do it - but have no idea where to start in php/sql. Anyone have a system that does this and willing to share? Cheers Gareth

Afternoon All, I wonder if anyone can tell me how to use a MySQL command to change a string wherever it appears on a website. We are using Wordpress and I can access MySQL through phpMyAdmin with the host. Quite simply I need to change Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr to Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr - but there are rather a lot of them. I have started to do it by hand but it's going to take a while. I need to change it on Pages and Posts in Welsh and English - so a command would be handy. I'm off to search Google now but maybe someone here is quicker. Thanks everyone, Gareth

Can anyone recommend a suitable colour laser printer for home use? Ideally it would have wireless printing from both Windows, OSX, iOS and Pi devices. Price? Well reasonable price. Hi @bladedanny - thank you very much for doing this for me. The official logo has now been upgraded due to a logo competition run in local schools by the cycling club. I don't suppose you could do the same to this one and send it as an eps? The club jerseys are being made and the company doing them have asked for the logo to be in EPS vector format. Well after talking to Richard we sussed it out. Here was the issue.... Our KMS server was running on our WSUS box - our physical one. We then went through the process of handing over the NM role. In the changeover the WSUS box was converted into a virtual box and the KMS server wasn't re-installed. So our machine was looking for a kms server that wasn't there. Of course it was within the 180 day period of running without checking. I think this is right. So Richard re-installed the KMS server and after a quick restart everything was back to normal. Sometimes the simplest things.... Thanks everyone Gareth

Running the final line of that code simple tells me the DNS name does not exist. The key has gone in but I cannot activate.

Thanks for this - I tried it with the Enterprise 64 bit key from the MS site and it said it had registered but when it restarted I was one again given the 'This copy of Windows is not Genuine'.

Morning Dragons, I'm here for 10% of someone's time to tell me how to stop my HyperV reference image timing out regarding activation. It wants to find our KMS server but because it is a local machine on the HyperV servers it cannot see our KMS server. Running sysprep to check how many activations I have left shows I have 3 yet Windows wants to tell me I am running an illegal version and refuses to connect to our WSUS server etc etc. I don't really want to go an rebuild the whole image again (or every 30 days). So wondered what others did. Is there a command I can run through the command prompt that connects the reference image to the kms server via ip address and activates it? Cheers Gareth

I've always had good sensible advice on here so this time I ask you people about 'buy to let'. Does anyone do it? I'm thinking of buying my parents house and renting it out. They are moving and have set a price for sale. I'd give them what they want knowing that somewhere along the line the money will come back to me (touch wood not for a long time yet). Does anyone out there let properties? Do they do it themselves or do they use a management company? What sort of mortgage? Besides non-paying tenants - what other pitfalls are there? What is on your yearly/monthly/weekly checklist? ANy advice or documents appreciated, Gareth
