I've been researching how to create WMI values for targeting GPOs and discovered this handy little tool: Two Minute Drill: WMI Code Creator - Ask the Performance Team - Site Home - TechNet Blogs Not sure if it's been discussed on here before. Wasn't sure which forum to put it in. Regards Gareth

Used it here for years and have seen positive results with the pupils. Agree that it is an awful programme to look at.

Afternoon, Does anyone know where I can get some floppy drive and cd drive covers for HP 7700, 7800, 7900 machines? Apparently HP sell them for around £20 each (I've been told) but I'm not paying that. Anyone got any? Cheers Gareth

Well - after spending an afternoon and most of this morning reading through things on Google I finally found the answer myself. WDS was the issue. I found a list of 10 machines that were in the AD Prestaged Devices area. (Don't ask me why.... - I have no idea).Anyway I deleted them from there and BOOM the machines started rebuilding. They must have been there for a while as they were referencing an older server. Crisis over. Gareth

Yes - they have been set on the DHCP server since Day 1. The annoying thing is that nothing has changed. Absolutely nothing. It works on 50% of the machines in my room whilst the other 50% do not. What I Have noticed is that the pXe bit is suddenly a lot slower seeing the DHCP server - but eventually it does.

We are seeing a weird problem with our WDS server. This is the scenario: WDS/MDT2013 running on a 2012R2 server DHCP running on a 2008R2 server Same IP range Same Subnet All going through the same 48 port switch which shows no errors. My room - 27 machines. Half the room recognizes the WDS server straight away and continues into MDt2013 and onto the image (success) The other half of the room refuses to do anything and instead we are getting the following: (After seeing the DHCP server) The process then fails. pXE drivers are all present and correct. If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear from them. Regards Gareth

Evening, I've just downloaded our school website and have installed the backup files onto my Xampp installation here at home. I've reconnected the database to my machine etc etc and everything runs fine. However when I go to /wp-admin it takes me to the 'real' website. Any idea how I stop that? I want to access the wp-admin on my machine but EduGeek.net - Sorry page not found just redirects me to the main site. Argh - annoying. Gareth

Anyone else getting thread detection when pulling in edugeek pages? Avast is going nuts here with links from adserve

Yes it would be thank you. I was on my phone and typing at the same time. Keep your hat on. If you are on a roll watch you don't fall off your broomstick. I don't teach English ;-)

Bugger me - that's his brother. eMail sent. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Good point there - you are being a bit OTT. I assure you all good intentions. SImply we are trying to find him to to have a reunion with our wives and kids. Three of us are sorted - Dave is MIA.
-
@Alkaline - Yes I saw that but the information is quite old. No better thing than word of mouth. A lot better than using a PC lol.

Sounds a bit funny - but I'm looking for an old friend of mine. Four of us lived together in University. His name is David McIlveen and he was from West Derby, Liverpool. He had two brothers one of which was called Jonathan. In 1999/2000 he married a girl called Jenny The three of us who lived with him have not seen him since around that time - almost 14 years ago. Here is a picture of the 4 of us... Dave is the one in the blue jeans. I think his missus Jenny was a school teacher. His Dad was definitely a probation officer in the Liverpool area. Cheers everyone

Yes - I downloaded the DVDs from the web the other week ;-) Lost them somehow. As it happens I did the warm up and struggled and gave up. Went running instead. It is what it says on the tin.

Has anyone done any of the following and would share instructions? 1. Put their school twitter feed a in a livetile 2. Out school news into livetile with updates through a central server - so staff can send messages or urgent updates? Gareth
-
Evening Awl, I wonder if anyone could provide instructions on how to migrate an MDT database from an old MDT server to a newly built MDT server? I guess it's an export/import jobbie but that makes it sound too easy. Gareth

Some interesting stuff here from Microsoft. Look at what they install: Deploy Windows 8.1 with the Microsoft Deployment Toolkit I've just been rebuilding our MDT 2013 server - last time I cobbled it together but I have a bit more time now to make it a lot nicer. I've been following the MS guidelines. Seems to work well. GJE

Okay. Um, I am the Head of ICT. I don't burn anything and don't film in 1080p at the moment. LOL. Cheers - - - Updated - - - So should I build it myself or find a system builder who will do this all for me? I'm happy to build but it may take longer. GJE

Hi - the more RAm the better as far as I'm concerned as I do dabble with video editing. i6? Never heard of that. I thought i3,5 and 7 were the only ones. I've not looked at PC based stuff for years. Not gaming, but do I need a powerful gfx card for Premiere? Monitors - I agree. After using my 27 at home, using a 19" in work is a nightmare. Who said size doesn't matter? Gareth
