I'll cross post this for those that do not read both forums - but there seems to be issues with the MDT Update 1 (for Windows 10). Read all about it here - and how to get around the issues: Deployment Research > Research I've not tried any of these at the moment as I am away from work. Not sure I'll bother for a while. Happy with Windows 7 in my school. Gareth

Apologies for the cross post - but fits into both forums: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/o-s-deployment/157381-windows10-deployment.html#post1348420 Regards Gareth

Why will people agree with you? Why does it need to be REALLY simple? ;-) Gareth

The guy who codes the Windows version is doing it voluntary but is happy to take on board ideas. Plenty of discussion here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/sonic-pi Plenty of information here. Pop along and give some support - maybe even lend a hand in debugging the windows side of things. Gareth

How long do you spend in the bathroom? Family discussion at the minute.

Before kids - I went for a Number 2 for a read. Now I go for some peace. As for a shower - anything between 5 and 15 minutes depending on how long my training run has been. Cold water, hot water etc etc. Then shave. If I am going out then the three S' can be done in about 15 mins. S**t, shower and a shave.... Then dressed. Gareth -
[ms office - 2013] Logging into Office 365 Sharepoint from Office 2013
garethEds replied to garethEds's topic in Office Software
All sorted. Working with the LEA we disabled our SmoothWall access and it went straight through. Seems there is an issue with authentication. I then remembered the SmoothWall forum on here and found a possible answer: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/smoothwall-direct-support/111398-office-2013-wont-add-sharepoint-online-links-backstage-without-auth-exception.html So LEA guys put the settings in and bam - it worked. Strange though that Wndows 8.1 didn't need these settings changed. Thanks @Michael for your help with this as well (and anyone else) Gareth -
[ms office - 2013] Logging into Office 365 Sharepoint from Office 2013

So further updates - we have no idea what is going on. Something somewhere is stopping Office 2013 from logging into our Office 365 cloud storage. In addition I've discovered today that it also stops me logging into my Hwb Cymru Office 365 storage as well - yet we can get into the personal one. I've run through our GPOs, disabling them, re-logging on etc etc - but all the same. I've checked accounts and passwords - all works on a clean internet feet (at home). We've confirmed that it works on @rich_tech 's Windows 8.1 machine in work (which has no GPO inheritance except for some LEA ones). So unless anyone can suggest a GPO setting that might be stopping this then I'm going to shut the book on it. Gareth -

Nope. Set the GPO to turn it on across the site and to start it automatically. Been trying other stuff... I have a personal account and an Education account both with the same email addresses. I thought it would might make a difference - but alas it doesn't. So my username @ can log into the OneDrive Personal side - no issues at all. It works and becomes a location. Happy with that. My school account - same login but with different password after choosing the Work option within Word 2013 - no go. WIll not let me log in. All on Windows 7. Tried the same on 8.1 and it all worked. Oh well. I'm ploughing through Google now. I'm not sure what setting would stop it. All the domains are in trusted locations, all the domains are passing through our SmoothWall - and all the accounts work (after checking them through the browser and through 8.1 machine + ipads) Gareth -

Okay - more updates. Windows 8.1 running Office 2013 can log into our OneDrive for Business without any issues from within Word 2013 Windows 7 cannot. I've turned off our Office 2013 GPO to see if there was a funny setting somewhere - not to be. Still receiving an error message. Hair.Pulled.Out -

[ms office - 2013] Logging into Office 365 Sharepoint from Office 2013
garethEds replied to garethEds's topic in Office Software
Tell me about it @Michael - the weird thing is that within Office 2013 I have the option to add Office 365 SharePoint - which is what I assumed we were using. In every other version I use I can sign in (Mac/iPad etc). It is slightly annoying when all I want to do is add a service. It was setup a while ago by me on the network so I'm wondering whether I have knocked a GPO setting somewhere. Time to go through them with a fine toothpick. I'll come back here when I get two minutes. -
[ms office - 2013] Logging into Office 365 Sharepoint from Office 2013

I'm not entirely sure why this isn't working. I spoke to the Office 365 support guy on Friday and he told me I was running the wrong version of Office. I need to install the Office 365 version. Uh??? What??? I told him we were using the volume license edition etc and his response was that I should try and speak to the Office 2013 team - as this isn't an issue for the Office 365 team. I don't get what the problem is. Gareth -
[ms office - 2013] Logging into Office 365 Sharepoint from Office 2013
garethEds replied to garethEds's topic in Office Software
I'm not sure @Michael - could I see or grab a copy of the script? I assumed that Word 2013 would let me add the service from within the application without the need for a separate application. This is OneDrive for Business. Gareth -

Thanks Michael - all done but no change. Not sure if it is related - but Word 2013 is showing me (on the right hand top of the screen) that I am logged in with my Office365 username and password. But I cannot see my Office365 OneDrive/SharePoint bit to open files. I thought it would just be a case of Adding a Service. Time to ask Microsoft. @EduTech are you about? Gareth -
Morning all, We have Office 2013 Pro on our machines as part of our deployment image. It's worked and we are happy with it. It's customised through GPOs etc. We now have pupils with Office 365 who all have access to OneDrive for Business to store their documents should they need to. This is part of the free Office license that comes with EES. The problem I am having is that we simply cannot sign into our OneDrive for Business when we try and add a service. The service is setup and I can access it all through login.microsoftonline.com What am I missing? Is there a GPO I need to check? Interestingly enough we can sign in through the Office app on our iPads. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Gareth

I'd love to run it but as we have a central LEA AD we cannot. Apparently it needs the schema updating and as we are not Enterprise Admins we cannot do it. So I've been told. GJE

Thanks @Chuckster @Sephiroth : Seemed like the easiest way to create a quick visual guide. What better or simpler way would you suggest?

Good morning, A quick request - when building a machine via MDT I'd like the task sequence to create a text file which contains the following information: Build Date: Of course replacing the with the date and time the machine was rebuilt. The text file can be named anything suitable. Perhaps there is one out there already (Not found on Google yet) Cheers Gareth

Good afternoon, In an effort to streamline our network we have been experimenting with a few users running without a mandatory profile. This means that any custom word template files (we use a special one with Welsh Spell Check macros built in) are not accessible as they are not being pulled from the profile. Does anyone know which GPO we need to change so that Office (Word etc) points to a central location to get the normal.doc file? That way we can keep a central copy accessed by the users. Also the same for PowerPoint templates. Can we download them, save them to a central location and then get PP to see then when changing themes? All GPO based if possible. Any advice welcome, Gareth

Konica Minolta for us in school running pCounter Embedded with accounting taken care of with pCounter. Mobile printing is dealt with using Everyone Print which works alongside pCounter. We did have 9 MFDs across the school but have now got around 5 due to a cost cutting exercise. Last year we moved over to an LEA contract. This was financially better as the LEA negotiated an economies of scale deal with the company. Printing and rental costs are stupidly low now. Everything works and we are happy with the solution we have in place. Gareth

Is there anyone out there trying the update for MDT that allows Windows 10 Technical Preview builds? How are you seeing it? I only have a production MDT in place so am holding off messing around (it works) - but I'm interested in how others are getting on. Regards Gareth
