  1. Cynical? LOLOLOL. I thought the same thing when I saw the answer.
  2. CensorNet 3.3r6 - Linux Central the /root for Linux resources
  3. It's being re-written as we speak by Welsh Government (mentioned in other post as well). Gareth
  4. I've checked this out today and I'm told it is being updated at this moment in time to cover what needs to be covered. So that argument will soon be irrelevant to us. Never mind. Thanks for pointing it out though. Gareth
  5. @welshman - You have uses the term "not fit for purpose" in two posts. In what way? DM me the arguement. I've put forward my concerns over and over but to deaf ears. Interested to know where you are based. Gareth
  6. @welshman - Tell me about it. We are not being given the choice. We have our own tenancy, our own mapped drive to OneDrive, SSO etc. But the Headteachers have been sold an idea by the Authority. We have no choice. Gareth
  7. @ModeratelyGruntled : Yes indeed it is the WAG tenancy for Office 365 Where are you based? We are indeed being forced to use it by the LEA.
  8. @Matt_Renato : Yes the 'All-Wales' tenancy is indeed a single domain. Admin Portal - no. Not a chance. Still got access to our own tenancy admin portal. The All Wales admin is controlled by Welsh Government.
  9. Not sure if I've got the title of the subject right, but here is the scenario. In Wales we have an 'All-Wales' Office 365 tenancy. We logon with @.net with a password (obviously). However, this is different to our local/on-site domain username and password. We had/have our own tenancy which works amazing with SSO/ADFS and using a script allows us to map a drive (onedrivemapper script). The issue we have is that the LEA are forcing us to use the All Wales option which means we can no longer have our mapped drive. Can anyone think of a way without using middle companies (iAMCloud etc) to do this? People log in to their onsite account but get a mapped drive access to the All Wales OneDrive area? This then being mapped to O:\ to create a filer window option? The way the LEA want it is to remove any local storage and simply depend on OneDrive. We could have done this with our option and script but cannot do it with the All-Wales option. Any advice appreciated. If I need to explain anything in more depth please ask. I'm looking for a Jedi Master to help with this... Gareth
  10. Another example of multi national software companies not realising that our pupils are their future. If we had free Azure Premium and it was a positive experience we would be pushing it to our kids to use outside of school etc Yes I know there are free pupil offerings through DreamSpark but it doesn't help schools. Gareth
  11. If you look at the Welsh side of the website you will see my classroom. We filmed the Welsh videos. GJE
  12. @rich_tech and @Achandler - would the drives from our P2000 just slot into a P3500? Should we be looking at upgrading our hardware? Do you have a link to a P3500? A Google search brings up desktop machines. Gareth
  13. hi Steve, The page mentions personal computers: "Windows 10 Education, offered as an upgrade license, is permitted for use during school and beyond graduation on personal computers. If required, schools can also manage certain attributes of the student’s device on the school’s domain."
  14. This interested me: · free Office for students and staff at eligible institutions, · free Intune for Students at schools who have licensed EMS/Intune for Staff · free Windows 10 Education for Students etc etc. We take advantage of the free Office for Students and Staff but wasn't aware of the other two. Where do my pupils download free Windows 10 for Education? Where do we get access to free Intune etc etc? Cheers Gareth Edit: Just found this: http://onthehub.com/download/free-software/windows-10-education-for-students/ and this: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/may-2015-microsoft-has-begun-adding-new-free-benefits-florian-schultz
  15. Go go team blue. We've got a Kombi in blue. Bought it in April last year. Not had the funds to start doing it up at all but we have had some great days out in it. GJE

  17. Well well well - managed to get Windows 10 Enterprise to load in a previously exported .xml start menu from our central network store. Not sure what everyone is on about when they say it doesn't work. It does. @rich_tech came up with our solution. It was all down to permissions. Simplest of things. So I've been playing about with it and it's looking good. HOWEVER - despite setting it up with 3 columns it wants to revert to 6 - which isn't what I wanted. More time to play - but at least the .xml is being imported in. Gareth
  18. Got a link to your blog @tech_guy?
  19. Oh gosh! - I've only just seen this reply to my post. Really sorry - I'm not sure why I've never replied. If you still need to discuss the language menu then please do send me a DM. I'm more likely to get it. Regards Gareth
  20. Just to close this issue - once the new Volume 6 deployment book arrived I took the decision to rebuild the MDT server from scratch. It hadn't been rebuilt since MDT2013 was installed as an upgrade from 2010 - so it went well. We now have a working system. Tweaked it a bit so it's quicker. GJE
  21. I've had a quick read. Not sure I get it, but it would be great if we could get a powershell script than ran for either staff or pupil upon logon and did the work. I'll read some more tomorrow and go from there. Gareth
  22. Ooooo that's interesting - how do you do that?
  23. Rebuild my MDT server over the weekend using most of the advice in this book. Not much has changed since we used the original W7+MDT2010 book (think it was volume 1). Maybe some better powershell hydration scripts. All good though and I deployed my first Windows 10 machine earlier in HyperV. Gareth
  24. We dump everything into the image except the plugin based stuff - Flash / Java etc. I want an image ready to go asap and not have to wait for apps to go through. I build a new image in the July of every year ready for the new academic year. Seems to work okay. GJE
  25. I'm sure some of the original designs looked like this but they do not look like this any more. GJE
