  1. Morning All, Whilst waiting for KM to get back to me. I wonder if anyone here can help. I've just taken delivery of a new KM 754e MFD. it has been setup and the IP address set etc. I can see the printer in the Embedded Management Software - however when I go to add the pCounter Embedded stuff I am getting authentication errors which prevents the software installing. It would seem that the software cannot authenticate with the printer. I've tried using passwords when sending over the software (the default admin password) - but otherwise I am stumped. Any ideas peeps? Many thanks Gareth
  2. Yes - that's true. I've never been able to work out the best way of updating my deployment images on a monthly basis - I let WSUS do it. Would you advise differently? Gareth
  3. When creating a reference image, my task sequence stops at the point where Windows 10 asks if it should be discoverable and seen by other computers on the network. ANy ideas how to get passed that without manual intervention? Once I click 'Yes' or 'No' it carries on. Gareth
  4. So I've had a reply to the question I asked on Facebook. Here it is: 'Yes, Gareth it fixes a lot of bugs (adds the Johan Bug Fix) and some new features (i.e., additional task sequence binaries). Remember TEST first and then BLAME someone else!!!' That came from the Deployment Research guys on Facebook.
  5. @Michael - Yip, that is done as part of the reference image via MDT. Need to find the RSAT tools now for 1607. GJE
  6. Evening all, Does anyone have any advice on creating a Windows 10 image? Over the years I've managed to get my Windows 7 image spot on and it takes little time to create a yearly fresh one. Now I am experimenting again with 10 (v1607) and wondered if anyone has advice or updates that need to go on. I'm following the advice given on: Deployment Research > Research The OS updates have been slipstreamed in, as have C++ runtimes and some other software. Are there any other updates you guys put in there? Cheers Gareth
  7. I've just asked the same question to the guys over at Deployment Research on Facebook. My MDT 2013 works great with W10(1607) and W7 so I don't think I shall be changing it anytime soon. Gareth
  8. Hi @smarties11 - this was close. The LEA had added the list of URLs to the 'do not inspect' policy but it seems some new ones have been created in the meantime. They are all updated now and I've been told the system is working fine. Thanks everyone, Gareth
  9. Morning all, When you allocate a pupil to one teacher in SM8 you cannot then allocate them to anyone else. This is a pain if pupils are in several teaching groups. Does anyone have instructions on how to asign all pupils to all teachers? It can be done - but we are waiting for Pearson to send us the instructions. Maybe someone has them already. Many thanks Gareth
  10. Hi @sted - without a doubt it is one of the best scripts I have used. The first run cleared by WSUS and then I run it once a week. I suppose it could be run less. Gareth
  11. The Chromebooks are all controlled centrally so their time is fine. I've checked mine and it's showing the same as our network time. All Chromebooks are updated to the latest version of ChromeOS. I don't really want to re-install them all as it means re-connecting to the wifi and is a hassle. Surely there is a cert that needs updating. Gareth
  12. I know it doesn't help but our pCounter Embedded software is running fine on 2012r2 and we added a printer in yesterday (a KM MFD as well). I've seen this error - have you tried adding a device and not importing a device? Gareth
  13. So I've been using the WSUS Clean script written by Adam Marshall and it has worked wonders on my WSUS server. It got me wondering what other scripts of pure brilliance are out there. I've used WSUS for a fair number of years and due to not having problems have never searched for scripts - so was delighted when I found Adam's work. What else is there that I'm not looking for? What scripts are being used by EduGeekers that work wonders for the networks they run? I'd be interested to know. Thanks Gareth
  14. Agree totally @Australian - it's a cracking script that does things the MS software should do. Must remember to keep up to date with it. It's worked wonders on my WSUS server. I wonder what other scripts are out there of the same level of brilliance that improve networks. GJE
  15. Hi there, We are seeing an issue with our Chromebooks when accessing Office 365 via our school wifi (through Smoothwall). We can access and login without any issues - however when we go to access one of the Office tiles (Powerpoint for example) we are getting the following message from within the Chrome browser: -------------------------------- Your Connection is not private Attackers might be trying to steal your information from login.windows.net (for example, passwords, messages or credit cards). NET:ERR_CERT_AUTHORITY_INVALID The server could not prove that it is login.windows.net; its security certificate is not trusted by your computer's operating system. This may be caused by a misconfiguration or an attacker intercepting your connection. Proceed to login.windows.net (unsafe) -------------------------- So there is the message. Whilst we can move forward into the application, it is frustrating. We have uploaded a certificate from Smoothwall to the Chromebooks management site but it hasn't made any difference. Has anyone seen this and solved it? Is there a setting I have missed or something the LEA need to change on their SmoothWall installation? Cheers everyone
  16. Cheers @DJ-1701 I arrived in North Wales on Monday afternoon. Drove some of the course today as well. OMG. Thanks everyone for the support and donations. There is not much signal here. I''m current sat outside the campsite toilets using someone's BT wifi as I refuse to pay inflated prices for the site wifi. So I shall see everyone on the other side. Thank you. Gareth
  17. Thanks guys - but I'm almost sure it has been there before when using the standard consumer edition of OneDrive on Windows 7 (at home). Have they removed it? It's annoying not having it on my 128Gb Surface. I suppose I could use the OneDrive mapper script.
  18. Evening all - just under two weeks to go so my final attempt at drumming up some charity money for the Snowdonia Marathon. I passed through the target yesterday and am now at 116% of my main aim which was £500 - so thank you to everyone that has donated. You are very generous people with your time and charity. Thank you. There are three of us running for the same charity so all together we will have raised just over £1K when added together. That figure is made possible by people willing to help. Again - thank you. If anyone hasn't donated but just wants to give £1 then please consider it. Edugeek has many thousands of users - if everyone gave £1 just think of the lives we could change. When I get my number and tracking information for 29th October I will put it up here so you can laugh/encourage or whatever at the time I'm going for. If you are a runner and interested in what I am doing and my training - The Running Geek is my blog. Read it, comment and send me some encouragement. Thanks everyone - you are all amazing. Gareth
  19. Evening all, Can anyone confirm that I can use OneDrive for Business on Windows 10 to simply see files stored in the cloud and not sync/download them. Using the OneDrive window as a normal filer window but not downloading? A sort of mapped drive - but using the OneDrive app, or inbuilt OneDrive functionality in Windows 10? Cannot find the setting at all - I'm sure it was 'Make Online Only' Cheers Gareth
  20. Hi Everyone, I'm having an issue with connecting a VBE2010 front end application to an Access database. I can do it if I hard code the file path and gubbins into the code but I want the user to have different Access files for different academic years. So does anyone know how to get VB to dynamically connect to the database instead of hard coding it or connecting through the VB GUI? Does that makes sense? Gareth
  21. Hiya - yeah I noticed who he was. He seems like a good guy wanting to help people. I ran the script for the first time and it cleared a load from my database. It now runs daily at 5am. I think I could change it to weekly without too much issue. Gareth
  22. @Kingstech - do you know how much you paid for them? I don't really want to create an account on the site. Cheers Gareth
  23. Thanks guys. I've asked the supplier to justify the price of those boards. GJE
  24. Morning all, We are looking into getting some Epson Eb-595Wi / Epson EB-585 Projectors short throw projectors into one of our new build areas. We have been told that ideall we need a Sapphire 1800x1200 display/dry wipe board upon which to project. These boards apparently are suitable for writing on, projecting on and being interactive on. Our supplier wants £266.00 per board. I think that is expensive. Can anyone on here advise? Many thanks Gareth
