Thank you @psydii for the link. Appreciated. I take your point and agree with you. Gareth

Hi @jcs808 - Cheers mate. I notice that your spares say GlobalSp whilst mine say VDISKSP - is there a difference? Yes - the picture I put up there was what my enclosure is displaying. On another note - how can you tell which firmware your P2000 is running? I get emails all the time from HP about firmware and P2000 but have always left them as nothing has indicated I need to change firmware and it has been working. It is probably somewhere really obvious. Gareth

Right then - two drives on the way to arrive tomorrow. So what do I do? I would assume one drive at a time so as not to overload anything. Being as Drive 14 was a spare, then should I just remove Drive 1 and slot the new one in? Do I need to do anything to it? Prepare it etc etc? Instructions on the web are scarce about this. Once 1 is running again and all is green I'll then remove 14 and put the second new drive in there. Again do I need to configure that as a spare or do anything else? Thanks everyone - your advice here is really appreciated. Gareth

Hi @psydii - I'm slightly confused as to why you say that. I have two spares in there that seem to be holding it together. Everything is running fine - new drives will arrive on Tuesday. Isn't the purpose of the VDISKSP drives to hold it together and kick in when something goes wrong? Gareth

Hi @andydis A quick look on the management and I found this information: So everything looks okay until I get the disks sorted hopefully. It says I still have 2 spares. Would 14 in the enclosure have been a spare? Does VDISKSP mean spare? Do I need to move them around or are they okay where they are? If I order two more disks to replace the broken ones - is it a case of just slotting them in? Trying to find our warranty information. Gareth
-
Hi @andydis Thanks for getting in touch. Here are the answers: Out VDISK is RAID 6 Support - Not sure - how would I know? Where can I find out? HDD Support - see previous Backup - All our virtual machines are backed up nightly onto a separate NAS drive (two in fact - at different locations) Gareth

Hi All, I have a P2000 SAN and drive 1 in the enclosure is showing an orange light. I've checked the management console (never done that before) and it says Health: Fault Health Reason: Disk failure is imminent It is listed as a VDISK Drive 14 in the enclosure has also now failed and this was a VDISKSP - It was one of three. All of our services are running fine so I assume something is keeping them alive. WHat do I do guys? Do I need to order some new drives asap? and get 1 and 14 replaced? The drives are around 3 years old so are doing well I think Any advice as I didn't sety this up. Gareth

Morning All, Does anyone use AzureAD as a simple tool for authenticating against a web app? We want to use RoomBookingSystems.co.uk and can use school staff accounts and set it to authenticate against our Azure. However I'm worried about the pricing. I can start with a freee £125 credit but what are the monthly costs for something so simple? Cheers Gareth

pCounter Printing Issue (is it pCounter?)
garethEds replied to garethEds's topic in Enterprise Software
Please come back LOLOLOL. Any idea where the docs for scanning setup and timeouts are stored? Gareth -
Afternoon All, We have taken delivery of 3 new Konica Mintola MFDs. I have added the drivers to the 2012R2 server which is running pCounter. I have used pCounter Embedded to send over the software and the configuration template. All is good. Now it comes to printing... 1. Staff can print to the secure pull queue from anywhere in the school and access it from any printer. This works. 2. Pupils print direct and it auto bills to the pupil general account. However, direct printing is not working. The job hits the printer and then we get a message in the print job window which says : Printing: Waiting for the printer to print... (30)' - there is a 30 second countdown and then the job gets deleted. Cannot for the life of me work out what I have done wrong. I have three machines like this. I have checked the configuration of the driver and the pCounter port, but it doesn't even print a test page when I send it direct through the driver properties. I've tried the machine driver and 'KM Universal Driver 3.1' - neither is playing. Logged the call with AIT, but sometimes it's quicker to ask on here. Anyone seen this before? Gareth Any one seen this?

"Your Connection is not private" - Chromebooks
garethEds replied to garethEds's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
This has reared it's ugly head again. WHen I type in a search term to the address bar (as you can do in Chrome) I get the same message that a site is not secure with the red padlock. If i type a full URL (Google) and then search in the normal way then it works. It's only when I enter a term into the address bar - I often use it to search direct. Yesterday I entered the term 'Facebook.com' - forgetting the www. It took this as a search term and gave me the error message. When I entered http://www.facebook it worked fine. Morning all, Yesterday we took delivery of 150 Chromebooks to add to our 30. They are 14" HP models - really nice and fast. They will be placed in our Sixth Form Centre for open use. Students will be able to take them in and out of the cabinet. Naturally we are worried that they will walk out of the school and into their homes. We have tied them down with the Google Enterprise Console - configuring them now we want. However, I notice that pupils can still connect to random wifi networks if they know the passwords. We have configured them to access our SchoolNET SSID but I cannot find a way of limiting the listing of available wifi networks. This would be an extra security deterrent in my eyes because if they cannot see wifi networks then they cannot take them and connect to their own at home. ANyomne know how to restrict this? Have any other schools/colleges made massive investments into Chromebooks over other devices? I'd love to have a discussion on how you have gone about your project. PLease get in touch. Thank you Gareth

And it is that easy. Nothing is every that easy :-) Thank you. Will try it in a bit. Gareth

Hopefully someone can help. Never done this before - but I need to extract info from DCHP Machine Names IP Addresses Mac Addresses Into a csv file. Will I need a script or can anyone point me to some reading material so I can learn how to do it? Cheers Gareth

Thank you everyone. She is chuffed to bits with the responses. Gareth

Ahhhh makes sense. She is doing it now. Gareth

Afternoon people. One of my pupils is writing an Asset Management system and is collecting information about what other schools use. Would anyone out there be willing to complete this questionnaire? https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=Ug4_TzS3ZEGUCRtgHRR5k0jJApDYZrdNjPWiDOjDU11UNDlETFNQOENMOFIxNDFXQ0RVWU9JSDNaNC4u Thanks Gareth

Meraki MDM Free VS Enterprise/Paid

Hi @Wave9_Lee - fancy sorting that out for me? -
Doesn't seem to have fixed anything. Do I need any GPO changes on the server? Sigh Gareth
-
Hi Dave, yes - that is what I am doing now once everyone has gone home. I've made the changes on my machine via GPO and restarted. Hopefully it will catch pretty quickly. I'm also making sure the printers have the latest drivers. Hopefully something will go right for me. Gareth

This has just happened to us. Our 2012r2 server had some updates on Monday - KB3197874 Then all of a sudden we couldn't print direct through our pCounter Server. I'm thinking it is the server that has the issue because our desktops are on two different networks and the Admin network can see our print server but would not have had updates via WSUS - would this make sense to everyone? Going to uninstall these updates now to see if it makes any difference. Gareth

@jmak - Thanks for the input. Did you link with Azure for SSO? Gareth

Evening all, I am looking at the online booking system found here: Room Booking System - Online Room Booking Software - to replace our current offering from the LEA. It's being forced as the LEA is disbanding it's support for the system it built in an effort to cut costs (and I suppose pass those costs to schools). Does anyone use these people? Also - I've been told that it can be connected to an AzureAD, which we have got. That would be amazing but you have to pay for custom apps on Azure. I've not done this before, and never researched it. I wonder if others have and what sort of monthly money they spend on Azure. Also - how do you pay it? Any advice welcome, Gareth

pCounter Embedded - New Machine Deployment
garethEds replied to garethEds's topic in Enterprise Software
Sorted it. Seems KM change the password on our older models and also on the embedded software. Changed the new copier to the old password and it worked itself out.
