I've recently (since February) spent my gaming time playing Horizon: Zero Dawn on PC, completing it as much as I can/want to. I've had the game since it launched on PC, but held off on playing it due to performance issues at launch. It's a fantastic game with a rich story and open world, and much better optimised for PC now. I think I've done pretty much everything there is to do, so I'm happy leaving it. I'm really hoping they'll bring Horizon: Forbidden West to PC as well. So now I need to work out what the next game will be - Snowrunner is occupying my time at the moment, but in terms of story driven games, I have RDR2 and Doom: Eternal in my back pocket...

We had the same issue yesterday when trying to print a subsection of a large-ish Google Doc where Papercut was running but the charge window wouldn't appear. After much faffing around to no avail (logging off and back on again, DelProf on the computer), I downloaded it as a PDF and used Adobe Acrobat to print instead, and that worked. Not sure why Google had issues, as it seemed to be with that particular Google Doc.

Tennis (mouse) elbow and 'ergonomic/upright' mice...
DeGrimmy replied to Koldov's topic in General Chat
There was a member of staff here a few years back who used a Penguin mouse, or something similar to it, for medical reasons: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Posturite-Ambidextrous-Alleviates-Easy-Glide-Compatible/dp/B007GFYM1K -
On the flip side, having BST through winter would mean more darkness in the morning and a little bit more sunlight in the evening... Not sure which is worse, to be fair! Your argument may have changed my opinion - Perhaps changing the clocks should continue, as much as I loathe losing an hour.
-
Glad I'm not alone! I got some funny looks from my girlfriend and brother when I explained my viewpoint to them...

I absolutely hate the clocks going forward. I know the US are thinking about staying in Daylight Savings Time now and I've seen a lot of people in the UK think that's a good idea, but from a timezone standpoint, it would annoy me no end if we were permanently GMT+1... I know I'm weird, but let's get the satisfaction of setting the clocks back to regular ol' GMT and gaining that hour again first before we consider ditching it all!

Bett 2022 - enter our biggest competition EVER!
DeGrimmy replied to VeryPC's topic in Our Advertisers
Wow, that's quite the PC! I'd probably migrate some, if not all of its innards to my lovely modular, minimalist Fractal Design Define 7 XL case that my current gaming setup lives in because I love it so, and then anything left over will be donated to my brother and/or mates as some of them are in need of some upgrades! -
Login loop on Chromebooks - anyone else having this issue today?
DeGrimmy replied to TMBS's topic in Cloud Services
The two cases we've had here (from 2 users in entirely different OUs) have been fixed by powerwashing or clearing user profiles in the Google Admin panel as @BKGarry said. Seems to be profile related here. We've taken a couple of photos to pass on to Google Support. The 2nd user also reported that a notification appears that says something along the lines of "User out of date" or "Profile out of date", but unfortunately, we didn't see this when taking the photos. -
I really enjoyed my first playthrough, right after launch. The recent patch has tempted me to play again, but I'm going to wait until there's DLC or new content.

This is it, yep!

I see what you mean with the example you've provided, but I don't think all YouTube videos are also Shorts - I imagine the YouTube channel will have the option to make it viewable through Shorts as well. I've just tried converting a YouTube video URL to a Shorts URL - This just reverted the URL back to the regular "watch?v" URL. What I mean is, it would appear that the Shorts tab is accessible to staff from the YouTube sidebar and doesn't appear to require approval like the regular videos do in restricted mode. I've not explored Shorts much, but I've seen reposts from TikTok, which is naturally not accessible in school. Perhaps I'm only seeing Shorts from channels that don't require approval, but I think there should visibly be the same level of control in Shorts as there is with regular YouTube videos.

We use a combination of YouTube's restricted mode for everyone in school and a whitelist on Smoothwall for student access to YouTube. For the first time today, a member of staff has sent us a YouTube Short to approve to show students, and there were no controls to approve the video as you would for a regular YouTube video in restricted mode. Students are obviously blocked from accessing this much like they are for regular YouTube, but what are your thoughts on staff having unrestricted access to this?

[Jan 22] 13 Proxy/Exploit Sites to Block
DeGrimmy replied to malware's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Thanks for this, we tried a couple of these and they were allowed through our Smoothwall. All added to our block list now. -
Morrisons scraps 'use by' date on milk in favour of sniff test
DeGrimmy replied to 6Foot2's topic in General Chat
This headline is so sensational - The word "Scraps" is being used quite liberally here without mentioning the "Best before" replacement, in my opinion. I don't think this is going to change much in the way of shoppers' habits and wastage - I'm sure most people check the date on things before picking something up so that they get the longest life possible, which means that supermarkets will still be left with the stock that expires sooner. Using "Best before" makes sense to me, at least for semi-skimmed and skimmed milk.- 13 replies

Similar to the others, our school uses e4education to host our website and I wasn't involved at all in the process - My predecessor was, though. I know that we chose the cheaper option of picking a template and tweaking it a little to our taste. My experience since taking on the responsibility of the website has been positive, I can't think of a time where we've had a major issue with them. I logged a support ticket earlier this week and I had a reply the next day which completely solved my issue. The CMS is pretty easy to use, as well.

It looks like someone has won the £184M - The National Lottery site is showing the Euromillions jackpot as £14M now... It definitely wasn't me! [emoji853]

This ongoing Euromillions jackpot has been the talk of the last couple of weeks in the office here! I'd split the money with my immediate family, I'd get a modest house (nothing massive) and maybe a new car, I'm pretty sure I'd divide a chunk of it up for a number of charities and I'd also want to invest some money in renewable energy and green technology. Most importantly, I'd hand in my notice and then use the money to fund things I actually want to do, though!

We also use the Magicard Enduro 3e. It's a little squeakier than when we first got it a few years back, but it still works perfectly well.

Nice! How tricky is doing that with each ME game? Since I've been on PC, I've not really looked into achievements or trophies... Do you need to do multiple runs with different classes?
-
I'm not trying to derail the thread to talk specifically about KOTOR, but the games are two of my all-time favourite RPGs and Star Wars games. I think the series is set apart by the fact it's set so long before the events of the films and TV series, and for first-time players, it's a fresh look at an older era of Star Wars. It's thoroughly deserving of a reboot, or at the very least, a remaster - There have been a lot of rumours recently, too. To summarise, it's worth giving a go!

For me, I reckon I should probably give any Zelda game a proper shake and complete it. I had Skyward Sword on Wii but lost interest. I have a Switch now which I rarely use, and I know that Breath of the Wild is meant to be a good one, I've just not bought it... You could probably add several Nintendo titles that I've never played! One day, I'll actually try to finish off Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus and Doom: Eternal. I've tried playing both a couple of times and I just end up falling out of them each time. I've never owned a Playstation, so there are many games I've never tried from that platform...
