I love Fallout, but I think I'll wait until some more details hit before getting excited! It's definitely going to be something different to the usual formula. I'm not really keen on the concept of multiplayer Fallout, but I'll keep an open mind for now... The idea of it being 25 years after the bombs fell is very interesting, though. It'll be the earliest post-war Fallout experience. And Vault 76 has been mentioned in previous Fallouts as a control vault, where no experiments took place and was set to re-open 20 years from sealing. So it'll be a new thing to see a normal Vault!

I loved looking into these when I was younger. I preferred the Shepard-Risset Glissando, which is the same illusion, but it slides through notes instead of steps through them. Wikipedia has a nice example!

My 2011 Macbook Pro 13" has a combined audio in/out port, which can be switched in the system preferences. No good if you have two analogue jacks to plug in! I think at that time, the larger Macbook Pros had one port for each, but I doubt that's the same anymore. And just to reiterate what everyone else has said - No, sounds like a terrible idea!

I bought my PC from Chillblast a good few years ago now. They had great support and a decent warranty. My PC has since been gutted and upgraded! My family have also bought PCs from Mesh a couple of times. They lasted a while.

You might already be aware, but Skyrim: SE is having a free weekend on Steam this weekend and it's 50% off, making it £15. I'm still enjoying every minute of exploring again, and I would play it every free minute I have if I could. My mates have other ideas, though... We had a very good Easter weekend playing PUBG, and we managed to triple our chicken dinner count (we're up to 3 wins now...). More recently, we've been trying to re-discover other multiplayer games, like Killing Floor 2 and The Division. KF2 has some awful server matchmaking mechanics which we haven't quite been able to work out yet, and there's no option to run a listen server, which would be perfect for us... The Division has had a recent update which has revamped a lot of stuff, but we didn't see any more missions. Perhaps we haven't looked hard enough. It was still fun to roam the streets and shoot things, though, and it was nice to see that I could increase some graphics settings since the last time I played. It's an incredibly detailed game!

I've found myself diving back into a new playthrough in Skyrim. I'd forgotten just how much I love that game. It's all I can think about at the moment!

Our Netsweeper equipped primary school's phone and internet has gone down. After the 2nd time contacting Schools Broadband, they let us know that their Virgin business line is down. Anyone else having problems?

We've had a similar notification. Some of us in IT finish at 4pm, the others finish at 5pm - We're all leaving just after 3pm instead!

We were told the school would be opening just before 7am - 5 minutes before the snow started falling again over West London. It got quite heavy for a while, right when everyone would be making their way into school. I think it was the wrong call, but most people are here now and the snow has calmed down. A couple of the other schools nearby have closed.

After a very sunny morning, it's snowing quite heavily now. Can't stop looking out of the window!

I was lucky enough to try Elite: Dangerous on both the Oculus DK2 and the HTC Vive pre-launch kit (I helped out on the booth at games conventions twice) and I enjoyed the ability to look around the cockpit and such, but those dev kits were quite low resolution compared to the eventual launch product, and it was difficult to see detail. I've not yet tried a Rift or Vive since they launched and they are probably better resolution, but it's my experience of the dev kits plus the prohibitive price that is stopping me from considering VR as an option.

It's a beautifully sunny (but very cold) day here at the moment. According to my BBC weather app, we should be getting snow in the afternoon.

I played more last night, and I'm very pleased I bought it. I managed to complete a very fun quest just before I had to stop for the night, and it's those moments in these games I love. Just got to work on getting better at the melee combat now...

I *may* have caved in yesterday and bought Kingdom Come: Deliverance... I've been eyeing it since just before release. Green Man Gaming decided to give me a 20% off voucher for it... I'd been watching Sips play it on YouTube and decided that, despite it being quite buggy and unpolished, it looked like a lot of fun. I played it most of yesterday and I'm really enjoying it! I haven't run into any major bugs yet, either.

It's snowing in West London, it started at about 7am but it's so far been mostly very light, with a few heavier (but really not heavy at all) flurries.

I haven't either, really. It's considered blasphemy by a lot of people! I used to work in the local Gamestation (RIP) and one of the higher ups spat feathers when I mentioned it... I did try Skyward Sword on the Wii. It didn't grab me much and I haven't tried another Zelda game since. I'd probably give Breath of the Wild a fair crack if I had a Switch.

Had to be a bit harsh as there's 7 there that are favourites of mine, but anyway: - Halo. My first online gaming experience was with Halo 3, and I played all of them for hundreds of hours. Friendships have been forged because of Halo. - Star Wars. X-Wing Alliance, the Jedi Knight series, Knights of the Old Republic were all part of my formative years. Add to that, the universe as a whole! - The Elder Scrolls. I am a late comer to the Elder Scrolls series, I liked what I played of Oblivion but always felt the mechanics were a bit clunky. Then along came Skyrim, which I have poured an incredible amount of time into. A big improvement from Oblivion mechanically, in my opinion. - Grand Theft Auto. Countless hours I've spent running around in GTA 2, GTA IV and GTA V. I think it shaped modern setting open world games, and nothing else has come close. Honorable mentions - Fallout, The Witcher and Mass Effect. I love the modern, Bethesda published Fallouts. I really enjoyed The Witcher 3, although I didn't play earlier games. Mass Effect is a great series, but Star Wars had a bigger impact.

My mates and I tried a game of 3v5 on AoE, 3 of us against 5 AI opponents. We set it up so we were one team and the AI were the other. We started off well and we all managed to get to the Tool Age, and then came the biffing from all sides... One of my friends got zerg rushed from the beginning, I went to help with what little I had and managed to fend off the few units attacking, before noticing my empire was being wrecked by a group of at least 10 chariot archers... The other friend was set upon by the same chariot archers once they were through with me. We were all defeated within 20 minutes of starting the game. The AI build at a ludicrous rate somehow, the nearest empire to me had at least 4 archery ranges and several siege workshops. We learned a valuable lesson - Don't team AI!

Age of Empires: Definitive Edition. It's a remaster of the original Age of Empires which got released yesterday. And yeah, if I'm around, I could join you for that!

I've just had Recolight return my email to tell me that they can't recycle our specific lamps because they're "highly volatile" xenon lamps, and I'd have to take them to a waste treatment centre in Lincolnshire... Our usual IT recycling refused to take the lamps, too. I'll talk to both premises and science to see if they can offer any advice. Thanks! EDIT: I've just found out that the original supplier for our projectors (AV Parts Master) will take them, as long as we send the lamps to them. Thanks again for your help!

Hi all, I've done a quick search, and there's a couple of threads dating back to 2008/2009... We've got a growing collection of used projector lamps that are in need of recycling. A quick Google search found Recolight, who seem to tick all the boxes in terms of WEEE compliance and, of course, being a free service. I'd just have to take them to a collection point, which isn't too much trouble. I just wondered if anyone else recycles their used lamps and if so, who do you recycle with? It would obviously be much easier for us if they collected from us and took the entire lamp assembly, but I imagine that a charge might be involved with such a service. Thanks in advance!
