Interesting, thanks - It's annoying we're all having the same issue, but somewhat relieving that it's not just us! Morning all, Has anyone had any issues this morning with YouTube, where the video player does not load? The rest of the page loads as expected, but there is a big blank space where the video player should be (see image below). As far as we know, we didn't have the issue yesterday. We have a Smoothwall S9 box running Leeds-63 and LGfL provide our internet connection. I've tried adding my computer to Exceptions, but this does not help. We've also tried YouTube at the primary school we also look after and theirs is working as normal, so it appears to be something on our end. If anyone has any advice or things to check, I'd be very grateful!

On the topic of camos, you've reminded me about the camo select menu - What an awful thing! I guess it's suited for controllers more than KB&M but I find it really difficult to find the ones I've unlocked. I'd like them to add an optional filter to display only unlocked camos.

Having played a bit more Modern Warfare 2 MP last night, I'm noticing that already, spawn trapping is widespread in TDM - Particularly on the Border Crossing map, the Al Bagra Fortress map and the Zarqwa Hydroelectric map. It seems that I'm often on the receiving end of the spawn trapping, and it's rather frustrating! It really shouldn't be the case, especially for a non-objective game mode. However, I'm still enjoying the game. I think the Kastov line of guns are just a bit too beefy - They're very accurate and (in my experience, at least) seem to have a higher DPS than most weapons I've tried. The DPS would be fine if the recoil was tweaked just a little. I also tried the F1 map last night in a game of Domination, and I really didn't get on with it! Perhaps it's just the game mode - I think we lost every game of Domination we played, and if I'm playing an objective game mode, I play the objective as much as I can... We didn't try Kill Confirmed!

I may have to try an objective game mode to have a go at it then! I wonder if Kill Confirmed counts?

There is one missing - The museum map. I haven't actually played the F1 track map - I wonder if that's just not in the TDM rotation?

That's interesting - I might check that out myself. I agree with both points - The perks don't make sense to me either, and there's not really a map that I would describe as my absolute favourite (Maybe El Asilo or Farm 18?), and at least two of them can be turned into spawn traps. I've exclusively played TDM though, so maybe I'm not seeing some better maps.

I'm also playing on PC, on what might have been considered on the fringe of high end a couple of years ago (RTX 2070 Super, i7 10700k, 32GB RAM) and yes, I've had one or two crashes and the lobby sometimes freezes up. However, I consider myself mostly fortunate compared to my friends, who have been dealing with more crashes and latency spikes when playing. I know there's an issue with the latest Nvidia driver, if you're running an Nvidia GPU with that - I'm on driver version 516.94 and had comparatively fewer issues. Without DLSS, I average between 80-110 FPS in games - I have it capped at 120 FPS, which is what my monitor's refresh rate is set to. I prefer to avoid DLSS because to me, the degradation in image quality is really noticeable.

I've been playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 over the weekend (the one that just released, not the one I played back in 2009...). I have a less than stellar history with the franchise, and swore off playing the majority of competitive multiplayer games of its ilk for a good couple of years because they made me angry and I didn't want to suffer that anymore. This year, the itch to play a multiplayer FPS returned and my friends were interested too, so the conditions were right. I've mainly been playing the multiplayer with friends and so far, I'm enjoying it. They have a new system for unlocking new weapons which belong to the same model "family", where you have to use the base variant and level it up to a certain point to unlock the next in the family. I've really taken to it, because it forces me to experiment with different loadouts and gives me some progression to play towards. I'm far from good at the game, but I have my moments!

+1 for PLFS. I've dealt with them for years and they've always been good. Plus, if you email them instead of using their website, they have a price guarantee where they will at least match the price from another supplier if you provide them with links. A quick Google search usually does it.

I'm very late to this, but we started doing this last winter. Unfortunately, we have a cheapish oven and by leaving the oven door open after cooking, the most pronounced effect was that the oven knobs melted a little! We now have a couple of slightly mis-shapen oven knobs which we can replace, but they're still working, so there's no real need to spend the money right now.

I'm back to work from 2 weeks of annual leave today, and I spent a lot of it with PlayStation titles that have been ported over to PC recently. I'm a good couple of tens of hours into God of War now, it's exactly my sort of game. Then, on Friday, Spider-Man Remastered released on PC, and I spent most of my weekend playing that - I've been wanting to play it for years but I've never owned a PlayStation. It's fantastic!

I'd certainly watch it, although I can't imagine it capturing the feeling that you get playing the games!

It's still quite warm in our office, and it's made worse by the fan we've had to deploy in an attempt to pull hot air away from the switch rack in our cupboard - The AC packed up in there yesterday afternoon... The temperature outside is beautifully refreshing though!

We've just had an all staff email through: "There will be a further relaxation in the dress code for staff. School remains a professional environment however, and staff are asked to continue to respect this, Smart shorts, lightweight trousers and tops (rather than suiting) may be worn. Beachwear, flipflops etc should be avoided." Thank goodness!

We use Netsupport School for this. The teacher PC has the Tutor Console installed and is linked to the other PCs in the room. The teacher can then lock down PCs, share the teacher PC screen to the other PCs, remotely control student PCs, disable internet access etc.

This is the quote from our staff handbook: "For most staff, formal office attire is the most appropriate. For men, this means shirt and tie, suit or smart trousers and a jacket." As IT Support, we've been given some concessions - We don't have to wear a jacket or tie. There's nothing either way about shorts in the handbook, but it's always been a flat "No" from SLT when it's been mentioned in the past. If shorts are rejected again, I'm very much considering borrowing a skirt from my girlfriend!

The concessions in the risk assessment that male non-PE staff have been given so far are "You can wear short sleeved shirts" (some already do here) "Or smart polo shirts". I've argued for smart shorts with the short sleeved shirts or polo shirts at the very least, but since students are allowed PE kits all day, surely we should be able to wear PE kit-like things as well... We moved from an office with AC to a much bigger room without it during the pandemic, and we're definitely missing it.
