No, you will need to use a seperate Server name or you will run into problems. Consider a simple naming system for your Servers, for example we use Server1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10............ if you already have that convention don't get dragged into the idea of calling them Server1a, Server2a as further down the line you will kick yourself, if your currently using this convention the best way I have found if you are going to remove the old Server from the equation is to call the new one Server01. D -
Good idea. I'm fed up of hearing about kids on facebook lately! Pupil X has put this on FB about Teacher X can you let Pupil Y logon so she can print it of? Aaaaarrgh FFS no not another one! D

We had a student impersonate a teacher a while back, they even added other members of staff and were chatting to them online until they came into school after the wkend and realised that the real teacher wasnt even on facebook?!?! D

Yes if you change the name of your server from Server1 to Server2 the shares will still be present but you will have to connect to them via the new servername eg \\server2\sharename not \\server1\sharename

Yeah as above tone the blue down a little, looks a bit too high contrast combined with the yellow text. Sounds like you may have some dodgy VGA cables or projectors :-P

Correct, an hour and a few cups of coffee later and "jobs a good en" as they say! The worst part I find is waiting for the O/S and all other software to install, the change over is the easy bit. D -
Agreed GrumbleDook it can be a classroom management problem, but In quite a few of schools blocking sites does have an impact as students will only spend so long looking for game sites and if they find that the first 20 they come accross are blocked they will probalby give up and do work!? D
