  1. Either I wrote it wrong, or you read it wrong which is why I quoted! 2. Ha sounds about right! I get a ton of spam to my Hotmail address, dont get any to my work though we use tren micro scanner. D
  3. Hyper-V is good for small scale, and yes it does kind of run itself. For anything largerm we use VMWare, I've no real favourite they both do the job. D
  4. Yep, must be the ITouch program then, glad thats cleared up :-) D
  5. That made me smile. Fair point though TimZim, I agree, I think that was the wrong wording to use. D
  6. As bios said, as long as your DC's aren't all on the same Box then you should be fine. We have found that virtualising our servers actually has improved performance and we now have next to no downtime. D
  7. Yeah there is that option I suppose, who knows, Im probably riddled with spyware and viruses!? D
  8. I think this one quoted above is alot safer and easier! D
  9. Exactly, he had it less than 24 Hours, he downloaded a program called spotify, and some random program that ripps music from his ITouch, ever since the pc is like its running through treacle! Free repairs are not an option when it comes back broken, if it had come back with something not right as a result of me not doing something correct then I would as anybody would, apologise and repair it free of change, but as he broke it, well im sorry, pay up! D
  10. Here is the solution to all your woe's! A simple program that runs at startup to tell the user whos pen this is! I'm thinking or re-writing something along these lines where it would only show the message if it detected any other username but yours that you would specify at setup? D LostDrive.rar
  11. I've ran with AVG for years and never get viruses, mind that prob not AVG its just my nature to stay away from things that could harm my lovely PC! D
  12. Proxy unplugged again to make a brew? Joking!
  13. I think quite a lot of schools run a secondary backup line now days, mostly from what I've heard of, its to use for external mail clients to get to Exchange as trying to go through the LA connection can be......troublesome! D
  14. Yes, we map using a staff logon script that connects the mapped drive to the server share. Remeber if your network has different domains, eg Admin and Curruiclum then the drive letter may be different. D
  15. I saw an email once that was going around with a man on ebay selling a table and in the mirror on his wall was him taking the picture naked as a jay bird! D
  16. Yeah it does, just make sure that your drive is mapped and permissions are correct. In your Connect.ini you should have: [sIMSConnection] ServerName=AdminServerName DatabaseName=sims commandtimeout=100000 D
  17. Crickey I better get AVG off my machine and get a proper AV solution installed :-P
  18. As Phil said, log a call with sims. D
  19. I'd be happy to put my Photo a day images on here as well if you like? D
  20. I've heard many good things about this program on Tech Nibble and such sites, I may install it for a while and see what's what! D
  21. My thoughts exactly, I don't want to or can afford to be storing all their digital fluff! Im going to start partitioning part of their Hard Drive and use it to store a base image of their OS that way when it comes back I can just restore the image. D
  22. Eeeks 150 DNS Server, you must have on mammoth network there! Sounds like something that may take a while to resolve, it may be worth getting help from somebody who is close to you to come and have a look in person? D
  23. AVG Free gets my vote! D
  24. Over the weekend I did 2 laptop repairs, a regular thing for me for private clients. I had a nice Tosh laptop, decent spec, only a few months old. The guys son had filled it up with rubbish and spyware, I installed Windows 7 x32 and copied over all his work and music and pictures, clean and free of viruses. I handed him back the laptop yesterday morning, only to come into work today and find that his son said it was amazing and really quick and that he was really happy but that now it was taking 20 minutes to load. Turns out hes filled it back up with rubbish and now he wants me to fix it again, for free! I got the "oh but cant you just do us a favour" no, I've fixed it once, you have broken it again, I charge again! D
