So since the release of Windows 7 BETA build 6801 i have had a small amount of time to play around with it. I must say i do like it quite alot, some really nice new technical features and front end GUI / ease of use features. What do you guys think?

Hi j17sparky, Can I start by asking what you are trying to achieve here? Networking two buildings together? If so have you considered doing this over Wi-Fi? Ruckus wireless access points use technology called meshing, which literally meshes two or more access points together. I have set this up with a few clients and they love it. If you want students to have internet access only on their own laptops then guest access it they way. By default the ZoneDirector will block access to the subnet it is sitting in as well has the default private ranges. Client isolation is also enabled by default, this will block any kind of communication from the guest client to any other guest/client on the network. Rgrds Stuart

If you have 3 access points with Omni Antennas in close proximity and you add a 4th you will experience hell in the wireless world! This is because there are only 3 channels in the 2.4Ghz Spectrum (G Radio), so adding another access point will cause "fights and arguments" between the AP's as to who is using what channel resulting in a very poor signal. *Imagine you have 3 light bulbs at close range (these will be our Omni Antennas), spraying signal everywhere, running individually on the 3 different channels. You add a forth and it has to use one of these channels, now we have for bulbs shinning out and overlapping these channels = Bad Times. *Now imagine we have 3 torches (Ruckus Access point infact) running these same channels. We add our 4th torch! Without any issue’s as no signal is overlapping with its neighbour, it is just focusing it energy on where it needs to be as opposed to just throwing it out and hoping for the best. This in turn makes Ruckus Wireless (as tested) the most reliable Wi-Fi out there. BeamFlex antenna directs Wi-Fi signals to clients Automatically adapts to moves, adds and changes Automatically rejects Interference Steers signals around impenetrable obstacles BeamFlex antennas make “good RF neighbors”

In relation to using a 3rd party it is great as long as the cost is kept to a minimum otherwise it just pushes the budget out the window and it gets a no from the head. We have experienced with Ruckus Wireless that you can have a succesful wireless solution without the need for paying someone to install it due to easy configuration set up. Self configuring access points alow plug and play. We offten visit schools and demo the set up and it will take 10 - 15 minutes and you have wireless and that has not cost a penny of installation services, the head would love that Seriously it is well worth a look, you can have us come and set it up and show you how to use it, do a site surevey and then leave you to play with it for two weeks at no cost to you....Well maybe a cup of coffee and a chocolate digestive, that way you can have users testing in a live site.
