  1. Indeed! The Sikh attitude towards helping and giving to others puts many of us to shame.
  2. Not if Boris has anything to do with it...
  3. I’m not sure that even this flattery will make her forget about ‘Devon’ that quickly...
  4. I think Mrs @mikeprice might need to check that’s there’s enough sherry in the house for Christmas Day - it looks as though there may now be rather less than she might have been expecting...
  5. Welcome! Good to have you along. We’re not all as mad as some of the posts might suggest! (Well, I’m not, anyway - can’t speak for some of the others...)
  6. Probably a certain taste as well - and not necessarily a very nice one!
  7. I’d forgotten just how funny that was...
  8. Hope all goes well.
  9. Close - that was the second. The first was the Two Ronnies answering the question before/ after etc.
  10. If you’ve resorted to watching Laurence Llewellyn Bowen, then it’s time to come out of retirement - you’re starting down a very long and slippery slope, if you’re that desperate! It’ll be Bargain Hunt, next...
  11. Just in time for carol singing next week!
  12. Brings tears to the eyes just thinking about it!
  13. I’m sure someone, somewhere has formed/will form a group to stand up for their right to self-identify...
  14. Possibly the contract with the parents - in most independents (we’re one) the contract with the parents gives a specified number of teaching days.
  15. Junk? Junk?! Edugeek notifications (when/if they arrive - but that’s another story!) are FAR too important to go into the junk folder! Seriously, welcome back!
  16. ICT Direct Dave is wearing Nicole’s socks? There’s something funny going on here... - - - Updated - - - PS - welcome to the madhouse!
  17. That’s strange, my ex-wife always said my cooking was sh... Oh, hang on...
  18. Not ideal, and a very poor second, I recognise, but could you do the ‘2 Christmases’ thing this year - they go to her mums on Christmas, for reasons outlined, and then have another Christmas on Boxing Day, either at yours or theirs? Probably a non-starter, but - just a thought. Good luck!
  19. Agree with a lot of what’s been said here, but just to add one further observation; after many many years of parents evenings, I’ve lost count of the number of times when, on meeting a parent for the first time, the reasons for the quirks and foibles displayed by the child have suddenly all clicked into place!
  20. Really sorry to hear that, but good to hear that you’re recovering. Any long-term damage?
  21. 1) are you sure it was the Sun? Cos ‘discussion’ has 3 syllables... 2) can’t and won’t tell anyone else what they should do, but after the year that we’ve all had, I’m going to make damn sure that this Christmas is the best that I can make it for me and my lad, and s*d everyone else! If you try to please everyone, then the people least likely to enjoy it will be you and your wife. And yes, I’m a mean Scrooge, etc, etc...
  22. Yeah, we’ve had one similar. Two entire year groups and three staff out for two weeks because of the selfish and thoughtless actions of one idiot parent. Unbelievable.
  23. For the slightly ‘cough’ younger ones amongst our group, you may need to do a quick Google for the ‘MASH’. TV series...
  24. Can’t begin to imagine which particular makes of cars you may be referring to...
