  1. Not wishing to take on the role of Job’s comforter, but I had mine yesterday. Had as good a night’s sleep as I ever have these days, woke up fine this morning, and was sure I’d dodged a bullet. Come half-past one this afternoon, and I’ve been dragging myself around school shivering like an Eskimo and feeling like I’d been kicked several times by a deranged mule. Hope you stay OK...
  2. A few people feeling particularly brave this morning...
  3. It could have been worse - at least it wasn;t a semi-colon...
  4. Thank you! Got mine booked for Thursday.
  5. Now, that’s where my reputation as a dinosaur/ grumpy old man comes in - I’d say it’s totally useless if you can’t rely on it!
  6. Most of them are all too busy kow-towing to their owners’ political views (of either side - added for frog reasons...) to do any proper journalism.
  7. @mikeprice: A couple of days? You have more faith in me than most...
  8. Nope! Just too busy to be turned into a frog, right at this moment in time - call it insurance for the next time I do something silly...
  9. (@mikeprice, please take note - a technique you may find useful...) “But @witch, you don’t look anywhere near 60.”
  10. Brilliant news!
  11. I can see just one problem with that - not sure that foreign holidays for the Johnson family ever stopped...?
  12. Sorted, now - thanks everyone for your help and advice, particularly @ICTDirect_Dave.
  13. Suppose it could be worse - could be Lycra... (are e-bikers allowed to wear Lycra?)
  14. I’d have much preferred him to have a desktop, but his mother won’t let him have one. Thank you for your help.
  15. Sorry, should have made it clear - probably going to have to be a refurb - budget round about £300, if possible.
  16. Ok, I’ll start with the confession - I’m not a gamer, and don’t really have much interest. However, my lad is, and wants a laptop for his birthday. Can anyone advise on spec, please? It’s for fairly basic stuff like minecraft, Fortnite, Roblocks etc - he’s only eleven, so we’re not talking about the more complicated games, yet. It has to be a laptop, so that he can take it between my house and his mother’s. Budget is fairly tight, so I need to know what’s important, and where I can compromise. He’ll be using a mouse and/or game controller. Thanks, in advance!
  17. You beat me to it!
  18. Not entirely sure what the Met Office are doing with the £230m of public money that they get each year, but they sure as heck aren’t using it to improve their weather forecasting! They are usually my go-to app, but they have been so off-beam this winter, it’s become something of a joke. BBC and Accuweather got it spot on today for Edgbaston/ Halesowen/ Dudley, but Met Office were absolutely no-where. Fortunately, they were forecasting really bad weather which then didn’t materialise, rather than the other way around!
  19. Nothing here in the West Midlands.
  20. ...but I thought you lived in Kent? (Well, someone had to...)
  21. That would have to be a darn long swab...
  22. She wouldn’t be that uncouth - if the queen were there, it would be “don’t let one’s swan touch anything...
  23. Ever had one of those moments when you know that you shouldn’t laugh and find something funny, but you just can’t help yourself...?
  24. Same here. Nothing sticking yet, though - thank goodness!
  25. Just try to resist the temptation to celebrate with a barbecue...
