  1. So presumably, that means if you pay for parking you’ll be towed away?
  2. Not so much forgotten, as totally disregarded (at best) and treated with contempt. Whilst they have to be careful with the NHS, they knows damn well that they can do what they want with education, as long as disruption to childcare is kept to a minimum. The right wing press are only too glad to indulge in a spot of teacher bashing, and everyone else who works in a school is tainted by association.
  3. Any port in a storm (pun most definitely intended...)
  4. Probably just charge the parents a few grand more per term and touch up a few of the old boys to get some more classrooms built and some more staff hired.
  5. How nice that we’ve found someone else to post amusing photos for us now that DaveP is no longer posting here. Still miss him, though...
  6. ... but it might be fun sampling the vodka - just to make sure...
  7. ...and we’re not allowed to use any of them!
  8. Always nice to come across someone with a similar (ie warped) sense of humour to mine!

Did he used to run a cafe? And work with horses...?
  10. ...and beware of Daleks and frogs...
  11. Ahh, fair enough! In that case, I stick with my original comment about the photo!
  12. I thought you’d taken the photograph!
  13. You could have got away with that one...
  14. Nice to have some positive news amidst the doom and gloom.
  15. Yes, I saw that and immediately thought it was a very unfortunate turn of phrase...
  16. Whoever did that deserves a medal!
  17. Just checking that everyone’s ok...
  18. Many academy trusts (Not all, I freely acknowledge - but a lot of the bigger ones) were set up to siphon public funds off to rich Tory donors - so hardly a surprise that they are now more willing to toe the party line.
  19. Almost on a par with the Scum and the Daily Wail.
  20. So the stork came to visit the... stork?
  21. This gets ‘better’ by the day!
  22. Because that would mean admitting that either a) we’re not very good at something or b) that another country is better than us - and, y’know, we’re Great Britain, and we couldn’t possibly concede that some foreigner might be better than us. warning - the above might contain just a trace of sarcasm...
  23. Behaviour issues are there in independent - they’re just different. Ours is non-selective, so we do tend to get a smattering of “I’ve got the money, so please turn this sows ear (who we ‘forgot’ to tell you has been kicked out of his last two schools) into a silk purse.” However, the other kids tend not to join in the poor behaviour with such gusto as they do in the state sector and the small classes and lower staff : pupil ratio means that poor behaviour tends to be jumped on much quicker. Also, it is much easier for parents to be asked to remove a child (so that expulsion doesn’t go on their record) if they refuse to conform. Not only that, but the other parents tend to get pretty vocal if someone is stopping little Tarquin achieving his full potential because they can’t behave!
  24. Sssssh! It’s covert - you weren’t supposed to tell anyone...
