The CCTV system I'm using has been bought individually, such as the camera's, DVR and cabling. Ideally i don't want to spend another fortune on cabling, I've pre-drilled a hold for two cat 6 cables to fit through, if i can get away with cutting the ends off the cable and pushing them through the hole in the brick wall, and then re-joining them again that would be a lot easier. Hi, Thanks for your response, I'll attach an image of the cable that I've bought... When I've had one of these cables spare a few weeks ago, i cut into the connector block to see what it was like inside. It has two cables, and two bits of copper cable going into the block, which are then joined to two cables which join to the otherside of the cable if you get what I mean? Thanks, Dan

Hello All, Please bare with me if this has been mentioned in the past... Basically, in the past, sometime over the last few years, i ordered a CCTV BNC/AC power cable to connect a CCTV camera up to my house. I've tried to find the cable again, but all the cables that I seem to order have a block joining the two cables together into one cable, from where the BNC and Power cables are separated. Is there anyway to cut the cable and re-join it again or possibly take the block off so it would be possible to cut and feed it through a hole in the wall then back out again, then join it together?? Sorry if i'm waffling, someone come onto our property the other night at 03:30 and cut my CCTV cables and pinched some CCTV cameras. If someone knows where i can get the cable from, possible eBay or Amazon without the blocks on, but 30-40 meters long, that would be great. Thanks, Dan

Brimstone - I said that to Meraki on the phone and they said that both the account would get deleted as you're not allowed to do it and it goes against their regulations.

Hi, I got that e-mail above, I phoned Apple to ask them about the 'classroom' app, they said that it is Google that have released it and not Apple, yet the link in the e-mail is from Apple saying 'we're please to release the new classroom app'. Anyone know how to get it working and where I can find my customer number? Thanks, Dan

We've got 263 iPads on our account, but if you go to the 'System Manager' tab, then go to 'MDM' then 'Settings', where the restrictions are, you won't be have the options for the iOS 9+ restrictions. If you create a new account and set it up and look in the same place it will give you the options for the restrictions for iOS 9+/ Dan

It's called Cellabus, it's free for unlimited devices, give that a try for your MDM solution.

You now have to pay for Meraki if you have more than 100 devices, I've seen an alternative MDM solution which appears to work for us, I'll find out the name and post it back on this post.

I spent the full 6 weeks holidays creating 265 Apple ID's so we already have that part done. We have iMacs and students login to their domain user account from the Mac Side, so i'm assuming that must be linked to AD some how, it would be good if they would do that same thing with the iPads though. It's exactly the same as us, we have 265 iPads and I asked Meraki how much it would be to get their full MDM solution with the updates and allow us to deploy apps and set the iOS 9 restrictions up etc, they quoted me around £10,000!! I certainly wouldn't be paying that price.

Hopefully it might intergrate with AD and bring up a 'login' box, that's what I'm hoping anyway haha, we only have around 400 students in our school, but still, it'll be a long process to search for one user or class.

Hello all, Thanks for the replies, I didn't expect them to be so fast! We've managed to find a solution which, touch wood, is working and hopefully will continue to work effectively, by using Air Parrot 2, and Apple TV's, this allows us to use a one licence software and stream it to 6 Apple TV's with one rolling power point, yes, all the content has to be on the TV screens in that department, but it still works great. We have 300 iPads, my first thought was make 3 different email accounts and then sign up for Meraki and add 100 iPads to each account, but it would take a long time to do, especially having to reconfigure the settings and profiles/tags again :/ I might have a go at it though. Anyone found out if/how it's possible to change the device lock screen wallpaper to a custom image via Meraki, I heard somewhere it was possible, but not sure where the setting is. Thanks, Dan

Hello, We've been using Meraki management in our school for a few years, seems to work well. I heard a rumour that with iOS 9 and Meraki we can restrict the wallpaper modification and password modification etc etc. I created an account 6 months ago for my personal devices at home and that lets me set restrictions with iOS 9, but the account that we use in school doesn't let me set iOS 9 restrictions. We've got 360 iPads on the account so don't really want to have to create a new account and re assign the iPads. Thanks, Dan

Hello, I've had a response from Apple this morning about Apple Configurator 2; I basically e-mailed them a few weeks ago saying... Hello _______, I'm having a few issues with Apple Configurator 2, when I am trying to create a new profile to add restrictions to the iPads such as stopping students from changing the wallpaper background and adding passcodes to the iPads etc the profile is applying, but only to iPads that have been updated to iOS 9.1. It takes a long time to update 255 iPads and then sit down and add the new restriction profile to the iPads. I've noticed a new 'feature' called blueprints, i'm not sure how this works, i want to setup a iPad with a background wallpaper as our school logo, i wanted to back up the iPad with the layout that i want, along with the new configuration profile etc and add that to the blueprint but that doesn't seems to be as easy as i wanting it to be (saying that, it's Apple so it never is as easy). If you could get back to me as soon as possible as i've spent the whole of the summer holidays updating the iPads to iOS 8.1.4 and creating 255 Apple ID's and e-mail accounts, and also assigning them to our Meraki MDM solution, so i've done alot of work with the iPads during the holidays to get them sorted ready for September and you bring out iOS 9.1, and Apple Configurator 2 and from what i'm not experiencing with Apple Configurator 2 i'm going to have to start all over again with the iPads just to get them setup how I want them instead of allowing the user to apply a profile with the new restrictions of not letting the students changing the wallpaper background and adding passcodes etc. I tried to apply the new profile and 'prepare' the new device from scratch by wiping them and now when i'm trying to set them back up again i'm getting an error because it says that they aren't supervised, even clicking on 'prepare' did nothing at all. If you can get back to me as soon as possible about the issues i'm having that would be great. Thanks, Dan I got a reply from them this morning after a few brief e-mails going back and forward talking about Apple Configurator 2... 'Hi Dan, I got a response from the engineers regarding the profiles and the restrictions. The reason that the two restrictions work in iOS 9 and above is that they were only ever intended to work with iOS 9 and above. Our online developer library of Profile Manager (where all restrictions come from) at https://developer.apple.com/library/ios/featuredarticles/iPhoneConfigurationProfileRef shows this. The two specific keys: “allowWallpaperModification" and “allowPasscodeModification” shows as “Available in iOS 9.0 and later”, so the workaround of updating is expected. With that particular issue put to rest, I want to focus on the two iPads. Apple Configurator 2 changed the workflow in how devices were prepared, supervised and assigned, from the old way in AC1 where it was a clear progression of Preparing a device, moving to supervising one, on to assigning a device.' I really hope Apple can get the issues fixed as it's driving me around the bend, and by some of the other posts on here, it's also annoying them too! Thanks, Dan

I was just writing the email from the top of my head and couldn't quite remember how I did it with our iPads.

No problem, can probably can add the via AC, but it's just my person choice not to, saying that, I would add them because it means the users can't ever forget the network. Ignore the message about not adding it, I would add it via AC2.

Hello Donkeymusic, I can help you with option 3, but i can't really help with the other two options... First of all you'll need to make sure that the iPads are updated to the latest version of iOS 9.1. Basically on AC 2, you will need to create a new profile by going to: *File, *New, *Profile, Give the profile a name such as *iOS9RESTRICTIONS*, once you've done this you'll need to go to the 'restrictions' tab, under 'passcode', click on configure, you want to un-tick the following options 'Allow modifying Wallpaper (supervised only)' 'Allow modifying passcode (supervised only)' Once you've unticked them two options, leave the rest ticked as you can configure the other options via Meraki MDM. Save the profile by going to 'file' 'save', save it onto your desktop. In Apple Configurator, plug in an iPad, you then need to click on 'Actions' at the top, 'add', 'profiles...' go and find the profile settings you've saved to your desktop, once you have found it click on 'add', this will install the profile on the iPad. When going through the setup steps on the iPad, you'll be best entering your wifi password manually rather than using Apple Configurator and adding it into the profile.
