Anyone know how to import student email addresses in to the email field. It was configured by my boss last year who left recently, the students log in to SMHW through their google account. It's synced through sims.

Hello, I'm wondering if anyone can give me some assistance, I'm currently doing a Cisco and netacad course but struggling with it. E.g subnetting and IP addressing schemes etc. Is anyone able to give me some guides and helpful tips or links to help me understand it all. Thanks in advance. Hello All, I'm wondering if you can help, last year we managed to get WebDAV working and setup on all the iPads (250) in our school. I'm the IT Technician, something was changed on one of the servers and it all stopped working. Does anyone know how I can set it back up again from scratch? I know there's something about a .pac file which needs to be configured and imported somewhere. It was my old boss who has left the company I work for. I'm trying to get it setup again and working as it was useful for when staff send images and PowerPoints to the 'iPad storage' drive which was mapped to all the iPads, then the kids could engage in the work more if they could have a physical copy on their own device. If anyone knows and could give me some help that would be much appreciated. Thanks, Dan

Hello, Just to let people know. I've created a device group which contains my machines (cr2-machine-settings) and applied my machine policies, login screen message, display username and password box and shutdown, restart and sleep buttons. I also put the energy saver option in there too. I then went on the groups tab underneath the device groups option, then typed in 'pupil-user', this is the Group which all students have, this is assigned through active directory, I then set my policies for the dock, desktop wallpaper, disable system preferences etc. I then assign the each machine to the machines policy and go to the settings cog and update the settings then reboot the machines. This is what I was wanting to do all together anyway, and Apple said this wasn't possible. Anyway... Managed to get it working. just thought if anyone else was stuck this may help then. Dan

Hi all, Sorry if this has been posted before but I'm trying every possible thing that I can do and it's not working properly... Basically my boss left a few months ago, he set up the Apple Server; We image the iMacs/MacBooks via deploy studio, Server has profile manager setup (well, this is what I'm trying to get working, as it was looked at but then pushed under the carpet for a while). I know that the apple server is bound to active directory and is syncing with our users/groups, there's a lot of groups. Basically when I click on a single student, I can see they are a member of the following groups on the Apple server; Studentusers1 Pupil-user (this group is on our AD server) Everyone. Is there a way to set it all up again without wiping the server as we've got iMac and MacBook images stored on there. I'm just wanting to remove all the users from them above groups and create a machine policy which applies to the machine and then another one which customises the users dock etc, something like group policy, but with it being apple it's not that simple. Apple remote support has been terrible, he kept saying that they don't support the Windows server (I'm not asking about the Windows server, I'm asking about the Apple server). Hello all, Thanks for your responses, I've managed to get it working, to be totally honest, I've got no idea how. I know that I deployed the printer via Profile Manager, when the user prints to the printer, they are prompted to enter their domain user credentials, then whenever i log in to any of the MFD's, their document shows up. If i find out how i got it working, i'll let you know. Thanks, Dan

Also, while I'm talking about deploying apps, is there a quick way to fill in the information box on Microsoft office for Mac? Hello, Whenever I'm logged on as a student, it just doesn't allow me to print. To be honest I've just to say got profile manager up and running today, needs tweaking still though. The printers are listed but whenever I print and then go to the printers, then login as the user, nothing shows up in the queue. You can email me directly if it's any easier? [email protected]

Hello, Please can someone talk me through how to setup PaperCutMF for printing on the Mac side of our network? We currently have it setup and working on the Windows side. There's 6 multi-function printers which are working through PaperCut. The students enter their username and password for the network to login to the printers and print their work etc, when they login to the Mac side, they login using their domain credentials, the Mac server is bound to out LDAP server. The printers are setup as 'follow you' type, there's a virtual printer host which is on the server, so students and staff can go to any printer and print. If anyone can give me help as to why it's not working, would be a massive help. Thanks, Dan

Hello, I'm wondering if it's possible, currently we have x30 Apple TV's in our school and x6 of them are used for our plasma TVs, they're connected to the wifi. We use a program called Air Parrot 2 to display a power point across all the screens at once. I'm wondering if there's any better software that would allow us to do this, I know there's some digital signage software out there but don't appear to see any that are compatible with air play/Apple TV's... Anyone know anything similar? Thanks, Dan

No problem, I'll have a look and see what I can figure out. It's never been setup before, it was turned on by my boss and then he couldn't get his head around it and we never bothered to look again... Until now.

Hi All, I'm wondering if anyone can help me. How easy/quick is it to move over to profile manager from using Workgroup manager. I was speaking to Apple today regarding some issues with the Apple Mac side in a classroom today and he kept mentioning that we need to move over to profile manager. Is this easy done? At the moment our Apple server is joined to our active directory domain, along with all the iMacs etc. The students login to the mac side using their windows credentials. I've had a brief look at profile manager but not sure how it would work with our setup. When I'm looking at the profiles, Apple are saying that I'd need to create a profile with the settings that I want and the push out the profile via profile manager to the machines. Obviously I don't want to mess anything up on the Windows side of things, our Apple server is seeing our LDAP sever and has all our current users showing, I'm not sure how I would go about creating a profile and applying it to the machines, would I need to create a profile and add it to a group, then in active directory set the users who need that profile under the 'add to group' option?? Any help/guidance would be massively appreciated. Thanks, Dan

We use Read/Write Gold, it's quite pricey but works well. The only issue is you'd have to create an account per machine/user - e.g. Exam 1 (account) per PC. So if you have 20 machines you'll need 20 accounts as it can only run on one account. If that makes sense? If you want more info just message me.

You can trial air sever for 14 days, that seems good. We have Apple TV's which don't get used. You can use air server. Which works fine.

Can anyone help me, we've had smooth wall for around 3 years, it works fine, I.e, blocking websites for staff and students, i have one issue where my account (IT-ADMINS) go through port 3128 which goes through smooth wall but is un-filtered. My problem is, When I'm connected to the wifi, Facebook messenger says 'waiting to re connect'. Can anyone help me? Thanks, Dan

When you set your profile up, it'll say 'require a passcode to remove this profile', go to Meraki system manager, then click on 'systems manager' (top left), then there's an option for 'profiles' (I think) can't remember of the top of my head. Then click on your profile which is installed on the iPad, then add a passcode.

Hello, I've downloaded Meraki Systems manager and deployed it via SCCM to all of our student machines, so we can build an asses list and gather remote info on the machines, it seems to have stopped adding anymore than 100 machines. I know this is the case with the iPads per account, but surely this isn't the case for Windows machines?? Please let me know. Thanks, Dan

Hello All, Please help me. I work in a secondary school, we have a total of 6 TV Screens which all run exactly the same content using Apple TV and Air Parrot 2, this is all ran from one machine. It has been working fine up until Monday morning, the program crashes every time more than one Apple TV is selected. I've contact Squirrels, who make the software but their support seems really slow and bad. I am trying to mirror my desktop screen across the network to all of the TV's, nothing on the network and machine or Apple TV's have changed at all. I've done a fresh install of Windows 10 this morning to see if it was the machine and something was corrupted, it still continues to do the same thing (crashes). Someone must be able to help me??
