I don't need to impress @VeryPC they have been excellent and got me a laptop in the exact dimensions as our headteacher's old (DEAD!) one, and they even got the colour she wanted. Can't ask for anymore from them :-) Except winning a mug or 5 :-)

The way we did this was to install VNC onto the machines, you can do this through an RDP session or use some VNC management software that allows you to deploy it, you can then change a setting in the management console which allows you to make the displays a link and connect to it through the web browser (as long as you know the password)

Could always have the 27" iMac I use each and everyday, have a windows VM on there for running SIMS in virtual box, and do everything else on the mac. Got it because of needing to use Apple Configurator for iOS devices :-)

Graphics card that supports 3 Monitors and then 2 or 3 26-18in widescreen monitors :-)

Evening all, A little bit of background here, I have a few decent box sets of DVDs but over Easter I noticed some Babylon 5 showing on watch, well I saw one episode (not one of the best from season 5) and that was it, I found myself reaching for my entire DVD box set (the only one I don't have is the lost tales) and I have started with the pilot movie "in the beginning" and I am now towards the end of season 2 and getting into if again big time. The question is, does any other edugeekers have some box sets like this, which if they start they just can't stop, mine include Will and Grace House (need to get the season 8 set) SG1 Star Trek TNG And (as above) Babylon 5. I also have all the original Star Trek and TNG movies in a box set, friends and to the manor born for the occasional drop in but not addictive like my list above. Before you answer, please take note I am not responsible for any occurrences of become withdrawn from social activities due to resparking addictions to your favourite box sets.

I think our exams officer once said there is an unlock within exams which allows to write and not write to the assessment manager aspects. Does that make sense?

You should be able to make marksheets with your internal predicted grades and then the exam marksheets aspects for forecast grades, you easiest way to find out these aspects maybe to generate the exam marksheets and load them in assessment manager to get the right aspects and result sets. Make sure you have assessment manager setup to show exams (under Tools > Performance > Options i think)

If you want to go for a real extreme, there is a school in Tenterden, Kent which is rolling out large scale Year by Year iPads deployment (and their year groups are over 300 students), it is worth going to see them as they really have it licked.

I currently have 85 iPads and 25 iPod touches all managed through Lightspeed MDM and use an iMac to auto enrol them, they are shared but there are some stumbling blocks which teachers have to work their way around. I am based about 3 miles from Bluewater. More than happy to chat in person.

Our LEA pulled the contract with the Managed Service Provider, as they economies of scale had gone with BSF being canned. Interestingly enough, only 2 schools went the solution provided by the LEA on pull out, 2 went it on their own, and the rest of us (about 5 or 6 schools) stuck with the managed service provider but had our own contract with a lot of the red tape taken out, made things a lot easier for the schools. Saying that I have been employed by the school all the way through the process and was never TUPE'd over. So I have gone from ICT Technical, to being in charge of SIMS and writing the school timetable (deputy head still made the decisions on the staffing and hours for each subject) then when the contract with the LEA went I was made "Technical Logistics Leader" meaning I do planning and all the documentation part and make sure the Contract provider is doing as we ask, as well ask keeping the SIMS overview and Timetabling. TL;DR see if other schools can put pressure on the LEA to pull the contract, sometimes they want to get out too.

There is one issues, Sublevels are for the overall level for English and Maths, from what I could find fine grades are only made from the Exam so there may be a difference in marks used there (not by much hopefully but it is possible)

I have gone with the current expected progress, so 6.x = A 5.x = B 4.x = C 3.x = D 2.x or lower = E

We have a separate SSID, VLAN and IP range on DHCP for our iPads, lightspeed is set to overrule the need for authentication and defaults to our student policy. I hope that makes sense.
