VeryPC FTW. We brought 210 this year of their thinbook range (we did go very high spec compared to you) but the price was very competitive, service was awesome. Did have a single DOA and they are all fairly robust (they are with teachers and year 09 boys) and everyone seems to be be super happy with them.

Spiceworks Calls Open for Digital Signage
BKGarry replied to BKGarry's topic in How do you do....it?
ARGH!!!!!!!! Well that's my expertise blown out the window, Back to the drawing board, no issues -
Hello All, I am just wondering here, I have XiBo digital signage (which is great) and we have taken all of our helpdesk software from a 3rd party Helpdesk system controlled through too much bureaucracy and brought in Spiceworks, which has been working great for us. There is one thing I want to do, I really want to be able to publish a list of open calls on our digital signage for staff to see how many calls ave been opened today, closed today, how many are unassigned, the thing is, does anyone know a nice way of getting that data to be shown without the need to login? Look forward to hearing fro you all,

Just seen this, you can double check the FMSconnect remotely Locate the FMSConnect.ini, which can normally be found in C:\ProgramFiles\SIMS\FMSSQL Remove the Redirect= entry, and save This will enable you to log into FMS correctly
-
Nope. It's really weird. I have had it where it only affects FMS and not SIMS or other users. It is worth a shot.

Try reinstalling the SQL native client, sometimes that works

OK, unlinked old Policy, new one allowed me to edit the settings, and now has sped up my login by 20 seconds, :-) next step is to start almagamating all the GPOs into one for Students and One for staff, it will make things a lot easier I think :-) Thank you so much for yout help
-
Well I created a new GPO imported the settings and I can modify it, looks like I will have to do this way, oh well
-
I am a little bit scared to do so, this is an old BSF Active directory and I have done that before with something else and it seemed to just go horribly wrong. I really want to save that as my last resort
-
All that is in this GPO are those settings, it is rather annoying, there seems to be a Policy Object for every different setting going (I will have to combine them later as it is annoying the hell out of me) but I can access all the sysvol and sub folders within it (double checked the ID)
-
Oops should have been more specific, the issue isn't the GPO applying, all the redirection is working, but I want to modify the GPO itself in the GPMC but that is where it is saying access is denied, when I try and click apply there.
-
To All, I am trying to modify a GPO at the moment on a 2003 DC (plans to get rid of that is being made already) all I want to do is turn off the "move current content" settings in the Folder Redirection policies to see if it speeds up logon (as with verbose mode turned on it seems to spend a good 15-20 seconds on applying folder redirection) but whenever I do the change and click apply I get an Accessed is Denied Message, I am a member of Domain Admins and I have looked through the delegation settings for security but I cannot seem to find anything obvious stopping me. Has anyone had this before? Thank you all in advance,

We also had an issue with the embargo and a locked exam season for this current one. Let us know how it works out for you. I have also had to redownload the KS2 CTF from K2S and import them and run the KS2 I average point score template to calculate the APS and KS2 information, but ours is now working great and the Head of Communities (houses) are loving the fact we can run separate summary reports for them easily for their Performance Targets.

To all, at 9:30pm last night (1hour and half behind planned arrival times) me and 4 friends got back to our unit in Northfleet, Kent. We are all paying for these 3 days of physical and mental strain but are all well. Entering IBCC PI Data in SIMS
BKGarry replied to BKGarry's topic in Data Managers's Data Managers Topics
Thank you @LosOjos This is not making sense, as the IBO seems to give documentation that make it look like a IBCC awarded or not awarded and the Ofqual register makes it look like an A-E. Think I am going to have to call someone, it really does not make sense in my poor small brain. And oh, the fun is that I am the one that does all the post-16 stuff on the Autumn Census and I though I had the right QAN but obviously I am totally wrong. On the plus side, it is only 7 students :-) -
Time for more shameless plugging, as I will be setting off at 8am this Friday on this hike. Hello all, I need to tap up your collective wisdom, we currently run the IBCC certificate in collaboration with another school, I have received the students results and need to get the PI data into SIMS, each "module" seems to have a grade but 1 is a reference project which does not have a QAN and the other 2 are standard levels, which I can enter grades for but there overall grade on these sheets seems to be a pass and fail and the only QAN I can find for a Careers related Combined Certification with OFQAL is 600/3507/9 but that expects a grade A-E. I may be missing something here, but do I need to enter both units that I can with grades and then an overall (which I need to know how) or do I just enter an overall, and if so how? Thank you in advance for your help.

It is always worth shopping around I found, I live in Gravesend, the last stop on HS1 domestically so it takes 21minutes to get into St Pancras by train (at a cost) which has uped the rent costs quite a bit, but if I go to the town next door, which there really is no boudnary just one big urban merge through, it is much less. I have had to recently have had to give up my flat due to a family issue I have ended up in the middle of (which was a large 1 bed self enclosed flat above a shop for £470 a month plus £75 counil tax) and I can't believe how much cheaper it is, I am seriously looking at saving up and seeing how much it would cost me for a shared ownership of somewhere, but you are looking for 120k minimum value on flats around here. Flats above shops are cheaper as people dont seem to like them, but I find them great as when you are out during the day there is always someone below and during the winter the heating from the shop heats up the flat, making bills cheaper, but I would say check the area out first, I was lucky as noone hangs around outside these shops so it was really quiet but some maybe a bit too busy and noisy for you.

We currently have solidworks, but just saw the free AutoCAD, so spoke to DT and they are chewing off my arm to have AutoCAD and it is full fat versions of everything they want, very happy people (and setup seems to be a lot easier than Solidworks)
