We want to give a couple of our Win7 Users a virtual MAC desktop session on our Mac OSX server so they can run bloomin Keynote. Is this possible with macosx server or is a 3rd party software required (if its even possible)?

I couldn't find any errors on the event log on the exchange server, but wasnt looking for backup logs on the exchange server - what section are they listed under? Ive rebooted the backup exec server, all todays backups have so far completed succesfully, its doing the mail server just now so will see if it works or not.

I normally travel KLM in europe so have thousands of miles with them, so whenever I fly here I try to use Malaysia Airlines as they are KLM partners. (also means transiting via Amsterdam from glasgow rather than england heathrow which is always a bonus) Last year I flew Virgin Atlantic home to UK and Singapore back on the A380 new thing, and wasnt that impressed with the new a380 to be honest. Emirates is one of the best, stopover in Dubai which breaks up the journey nicely. They are all much of a muchness really, its an expensive ticket so I would choose it on a) flight time - unless he is wanting a planned stopover for a couple of days in asia to see somewhere, avoid an airline that has a 5hr+ layover b) price obviously c) whether you have airmiles with any of the carriers already that you can use to either put towards the flight, or to add this new flight to.

Exchange is working fine, but as of yesterdays backups for exchange, they have been failing with the following error: Ive tried to re-run the backup but it fails at different points (im looking at the amount of data it copied and it was different on both when it failed) Not entirely sure what or where I should look or if this is a bexec issue or there is actually corruption in my data store.

I have 3 HDDs and was wanting to just mirror them with a live hot spare. Or Raid5, but I think the first option would be better. I'm a bit confused as to why there are 2 RAID options though, surely the adaptec one is a proper bit of hardware. Is ESX just that crap that it only supports a hand full of drivers? This server has bays for I think it is 12 hot swap disks. How will putting in an pcie card affect the hot swap capabilities? I might just put blooming 2008R2 on it and use VMWare server to save all the hassle.

\ I use HyperV for my SAN virtualisation of servers. I just have this one Appliance that is provided as a VMware image thing and is only supported on ESX. I dont really want to have to install 2008R2 Just to get Raid functinality, and then VMware Server.

Is it not possible to add drivers to ESXi? Would ESX resolve this problem? I had a look at the VM Ware HCL but couldnt make any sense of it. I did a search and it listed the F1 as compatible but i couldnt find any specifics about RAID. What PCIe card would you recommend?

Ive got an Acer A380 server that has an Apaptec RAID card and also has an Intel on board card. Ive tried both, in various types of raid configurations, but each time I boot off the ESXi CD it only shows the individual drives, not the RAID. Am I doing something wrong? Surely ESXi should support this server hardware?

it would accept the license key but then it wouldnt let me click OK at the next screen. It seems that our agreement ID that it requires at that second window had changed. Entering the new agreement ID and it works..

I want to get started with the MSCITP:SA but not exactly sure where to start. Ive negotiated time at work to put in the hours of study, Im happy to just sit with a textbook but the IT Director has it in his head we need to be looking at some sort of online based learning thing? IS there such a thing and what should I be looking at? If not, where can I find a list of what textbooks etc to buy? And how do i go about doing the exams? CHeers

I uninstalled ForeFront from this box at one point, and reinstalled it, but now it wont accept the license key and is running in evaluation mode. Anyone got any ideas why its not accepting the key this time round?

Ive managed to find the stone sans as this was a purchased add on. This has been installed however it still says the StoneSans-Semibold is missing. I am unsure where the other ones would have come from? Are they normal windows fonts? Or has some other application installed them?

got an important pc thats used for production of corporate dox that has somehow lost fonts. This is the error from publisher. I have tried reinstalling Office and Adobe CS5 and Acrobat CS5 but it persists. Not sure on this one... any ideas? Cheers

If I had met someone in the mountains of Austria, Switzerland, or even Canada - or any other places well known for their snow - when I asked them where they learnt to ski / snowboard, had they told me "Australia", I would have laughed in their face. Before I came here, I thought of Australia as that place on those aussie shows, where the sun shone 24/7.. This weekend gone, I finally made it to the aussie ski slopes.. "dont expect much" I was told.. Granted, I knew New Zealand is famous for its snow, but for some reason I just expected Australia to be hot and sunny all year round. (turns out places are, Darwin eg is 30C even in winter) According to Wikipedia... Its not a cheap sport in this country at all, $70 for the hire of the snowboard and boots for a day (about 50 quid) and it was $107 for the lift pass for the day.. wireless is fine, im not looking for alternative technologies. The internet is only 2MB ADSL so theres no point in having anything faster / better for the local links coz all traffic is just web traffic. Its a different matter that the internet will be slow, thats fine, I just want to know how others would do this using 802.11 Wireless. At the moment the guy has set up all sorts of weird different subnets between each building to the main, and is using NAT (?!!?) to talk from one network to the other. Each building has its own DHCP server and gives out IPs on whatever network is in that building. Im trying to tell my boss this guy is a cowboy and what he is doing is ludicrous. What Im really lookign for is someone to go: 192.168.0.1/24 give each AP an IP between .2 and .20 give the firewall .0.1 and set dhcp for 100-200. Each Access point within the buildings should have the same SSID with the same WPA key, and the point to point links can be on the same network with the same key. Thats the way I would set it up, the 3rd party guy is doing all sorts of wierdness, and Im looking for others suggestions to see if my way of doing it is the simplest / would work.

Hi Chris, thanks yeh its not the function of what each does thats the issue, its whether not choosing one and just closing the window will prohibit the computer from connecting to the network completely. I think its agreed that it wont stop it completely if the window is closed, I just need to find some written documentation on the MS site or equivalent that I can use as evidence

Doesnt really matter what zone it puts it in, as long as it doesnt stop it from connecting to said network. These are laptops used for web browsing and local use only.
