  1. @FN-GM, im impressed you even noticed that. I had to switch between both your screen shots 5 times before I could spot the difference
  2. tab+enter works OK for me in FF5 It brings me to this quick reply box. PS. Thanks for the heads up on this @kmount, i didnt even realise the shortcut existed
  3. If the highlighting could be applied when viewing iSPY it would be the best (for me)
  4. Is it better to use port 389 or port 3268 ? Everything here is set to 3268 at the moment but just wondering if this is better than using the default LDAP port?
  5. Excellent thanks. I did not know about mklink command.
  6. Well that was a bit easy. Guess I should keep up to date and actually read the 'whats new' section of new releases of things..
  7. I gave it legacy. But having just found this page Narendra Patel's Blog » Installing Ubuntu Server 11.04 64bit on Hyper-V it seems that hyperv drivers are part of the new ubuntu! Ill give that a go..
  8. Just trying to installl ubuntu onto hyperv. I know its not officialy supported by MS, but all the previous versions of ubuntu have just worked. This new version, for some reason, doesnt work. During setup, the networking is fine, it can download all the required updates etc as it installs. But once it reboots after finishing the install, it seems to get a DHCP address, but doesnt have any network activity? Bit strange. Think Ill just stick to gentoo, its a lot easier.
  9. OK i figured out this problem. I had to enable to computer browser service on 2008R2. Anyway, would still be interested if it is posssible to reshare a share in windows.
  10. Just to tag onto this.. Im just wondering, did @ZeroHour, have to show his passport again to board a flight to Scotland or was his connection with a proper airline?
  11. but when it is free, one has to try every combination of food and beverage. Its rude not to.
  12. Who is your favourite? I had never been to a comedy show before, so I went to see Billy Connolly at the Sydney Opera House. Though Id open with a bit of a big yin! Since then Ive only been to see another comedian, Danny Bhoy, who although another Scot, I had never heard of in Scotland! Seems he is massive here in australia.. To continue the pro-Scottish comedian loving, Frankie Boyle is a legend, and I really hope Kevin Bridges makes an appearance out here at some point. There are a couple of the english ones i find funny, Michael Macintyre, and theres another one whose name escapes me... BBC - Comedy - Live at the Apollo - Danny Bhoy - Noah's Ark Any other local / international talent I should be looking out for? PS: a thread like this wouldnt be complete without this legend http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i3t9cHFz9lI
  13. makes a lot of sense. Cheers. On a side note, and unrelated to this thread completely, but what is all this 'academy' speak i hear of. Where I grew up in scotland, most of our state schools for seniors were called 'blah blah academy'
  14. Ive got a great tip for Terminal 5. Avoid BA and aviod T5. Even better.. Avoid London and you avoid heathrow!! I was due to fly back to scotland last christmas via Schipol, an 8 hour stopover was due to be the icing on the cake to round off a long trip.. but all that snow routed me through heathrow.. Arrived at 6am and my flight out they put me on wasnt till 3pm. Thank god for the BMI lounge and being able to blag it in there. Cornflakes and champagne never tasted so good. (6am was 3pm really for me so it was acceptable!)
  15. just out of interest @zag, why didnt you just keep the same email addresses?
  16. I will do so once I get back to work on Monday. The only thing I added to v5 though was a chapter about deprovisioning accounts. By default, if a user gets moved out of an OU, the live@edu mailbox etc stays. I just documented about ways of changing that so if you move a user out the OU, it deprovisions (aka deletes!) the mailbox etc.
  17. Well then that is exactly what we did - students got synced as new mailboxes, staff got synced as mail-users. Yes, you simply select the teachers OU in ILM to sync as well. It determines the email address as whether it should create a mailbox ([email protected]) or if it should create them as mail-users ([email protected]) There is a bit of extra configuration needed in ILM to get this working though, took me a good few hours on the phone with support getting it set up, but I thnk the docs I uploaded here have that covered, Im on Version 5 of my docs so cant remember the last I put up here. Ive literally not had to touch it in 15 months since setting it up. It "Just Works". Feel free to PM me any time if you have any specific questions.
  18. It shouldnt take much to migrate the mailboxes from exchange to live@edu once you have the infrastucture in place?
  19. Knowing that I can restore any email within 60 seconds basically. Having a 12 month+ archive of emails. There were a lot of other considerations that took place but I cant remember them all. Email is misison critical to our business, and keeping it under our management just made sense
  20. For us, we opted for the split option as we have 200 staff but 2000 students. It is a lot easier/cheaper to administer / backup etc etc the small staff numbers. We would have had to purchase new hardware etc etc if we wanted to add on our students.
  21. We did the second option, except our exchange server only was for staff in the first place so there was no existing accounts to be migrated for students. Created a subdomain for @students.domain.au and kept the exchange server @domain.au. You have to add the existing domain as an accepted domain to the live@edu one What I also did though was set the staff up as windows live users, so they could access the skydrive and interact in the cloud with the students, they simply login with their existing school email address (this becomes their windows live ID) and the good thing is passwords are synced for both staff and students. ILM is a ballache, but I have posted my documentation I made as I struggled through it on here somewhere (in this thread I think) which should give you a good idea of all the problems you might face (with the solutions I found)
  22. it uses nothing. couple of meg install is all it is if that. I started monitoring printers but then it became a PITA. Teachers would turn them off now and then, we would get too many warnings about toner and the teachers not ocming to get any, etc. So we stopped. IF they need toner they know where they can swap their empty one with a new one. But to answer your question, there are various plugins for various printers. Check NAgios Exchange or whatever its called
