Ive just finished auditing our exchange server, and there are a whole load of old mailboxes from staff who no longer work here. The user accounts are still in AD but they are all disabled. If I just delete the accounts, Im assuming this will delete the mailboxes as well? Ive exported a list of all the mailboxes in the Exchange Server.. is there an automated way I can cross reference this with AD, and get a list of the mailboxes whose correspoding AD account is disabled? Cheers

would need to be fully functional eg play videos etc.

is there such a thing? Rather than connect via VGA we were thinking of putting in wireless ones to make it easier for the teachers to connect to, and also if we go down the tablet route. Is there such a thing? What is good ones?

Im currently looking for a solution to back up all our VMs we are running on our SAN. I had the guys from Windows and Exchange Server Backup and Data Recovery Software shadowprotect in who now do reasonably priced VM licensing, but we have ESS too so was thinking of just using DPM 2010 if at all possible.. The one thing I cant figure out with DPM though after having a quick play, is whether I can store the backups on a network share or if it has to be local storage, sorry to hijack but can anyone answer this please?

Clicking on the Moodle live@edu block, and then the page it took you to to login to the MS live, it would fail with the username and password being incorrect. However manually going to mail.live.com or outlook.com would work with the exact same credentials. We modified the link the moodle block points to what the recommended setting was eg outlook.com/our.domain.edu.au and now when you click the link, it accepts the username and password you enter at the outlook.com page, it then does the return to moodle thing, but then errors out with the following error: Fatal error: Call to a member function registerXPathNamespace() on a non-object in /srv/www/htdocs/mis/3rdparty/moodle/blocks/live_services/services/email/ews.php on line 1282

nothing is redirected to a server, the entire profile is redirected to a separate partition on the internal laptop HDD. What I will be doing this time though is redirecting the documents folder and using offline files sync the local documents to the network share. I was planning on having both laptops at the time of migration.

I have taken a hacksaw to the casing and successfully recovered the data by plugging the HDD into a usb sata caddy as mentioned above

I have just discovered Synery. Wow. I always have my laptop sitting on my desk next to my, and now if I need to use it I dont even need to move

We will shortly be replacing all 200 of our teacher laptops. Our teachers currently use local profiles and some of them top 50gb, as they store all their itunes purchases etc on the laptop. We are looking for an easy way to migrate these profiles from the old laptops to the new ones. The laptops will be coming with our image on it already, so we wont be reimaging them. Google throws up the User State Migration Tool, but is this possible to do for example 10 laptops at a time? Want to automate the process as much as possible.. What is there out there that will do this for us?

Ive just given them a couple of old imacs to use for keynotes to keep them happy. Not wasting any more of my time on them ;p

He's SOL then IMO. Without internet or an existing sky card, the only option is to find a pub. I have a couple of slingbox I use which are plugged into various satellite systems (2 in scotland one here in Sydney) which means I can watch my payTV when I am away from home. But it requires an internet connection. @JJonas, It is possible to reauth a card to a new box you just need to phone them up with the box number and the card number. Reminds me of a funny story of when we all wanted to watch a game on the box and were on holiday overseas but couldnt find the game on anywhere, we ended up in a pub, all of us crowded round a table with mobile phones on it getting updates of the game via SMS. Locals thought we were mad when we all started cheering after a beep

sky sports is tied to the box. So whilst some channels you can take the card and put it in another reciever, sky sports wont work like that. AFAIK you cannot subscribe for just a weekend. If he has sky at home I would suggest he take the receiver and card with him and that would work. A chipped card is illegal an not allowed to be discussed on here, but anyway, sky UK is one of the only ones never to been done AFAIK.

Thanks, Ill check it out

We have just raised our domain functional level to 2008 an Im looking to implement a dual password policy which I now believe is possible at this level? Are any of you doing this? Im looking to have a fairly complex one for staff that changes every 90 days, and a less strict one for students so the wee yins can still remember theirs.

We do D2d and then D2T for reduncancy. Just bought a large 50 tray Dell tape library, and another tray of 15x2TB drives for the powervault storage array that houses the D2D.

Currently having issues with our plugin again, although I think it is due to us not having done anything regarding this: https://blogs.msdn.com/b/ukliveatedu/archive/2011/03/03/outlook-live-required-url-changes.aspx Can those of you who use this ( @gshaw ?) please advise what needs changed with the new URL please? Also, I notice there is a new beta version of the plugin Microsoft Live Services Plug-in for Moodle has anyone tried it yet?

Backup Exec 2010 reports corruption in Exchange Mail Store.

Hi @sukh, After that one error from backup exec, subsequent backups have perforrmed correctly This is the only error present in the application log: Event Type: Error Event Source: MSExchangeSA Event Category: General Event ID: 9385 Date: 15/08/2011 Time: 8:26:39 AM User: N/A Computer: MAILSERVER2 Description: Microsoft Exchange System Attendant failed to read the membership of the universal security group '/dc=au/dc=edu/dc=nsw/dc=ourdomain/dc=local/ou=Microsoft Exchange Security Groups/cn=Exchange Servers'; the error code was '8007203a'. The problem might be that the Microsoft Exchange System Attendant does not have permission to read the membership of the group. If this computer is not a member of the group '/dc=au/dc=edu/dc=nsw/dc=ourdomain/dc=local/ou=Microsoft Exchange Security Groups/cn=Exchange Servers', you should manually stop all Microsoft Exchange services, run the task 'add-ExchangeServerGroupMember,' and then restart all Microsoft Exchange services. For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. However, there seems to be a big issue with Exchange now, as I cannot create any new accounts. Please see attached. I am going to restart the server in a couple of hours, so hopefully that will fix the issue but will see. -
Interesting. Any idea who to ask.. Is there anyone on here who is a MAC expert (expert i said, not fanboi, so shh shinobi) To be honest, from your previous quote about running multiple versions of osx serve on the same hardware, my initial thought process was dual-booting and i never thought of visualization.. Anyone know what sort of cost might we be looking at to upgrade our OS X Server (purchased within the last 12/18 months) to the latest roaring version?
-
So like windows server can do 2 remote desktop (plus a local console) by default.. this is just not available in OSX Server? Fair enough.. I dont think purchasing multiple OSX Server licenses just to run keynote is a valid ides. Probably cheaper to pick up an old mac hardware and just give them that... Thanks for your help arthur.

I cant find that line about virtualized / teriminal sharing in the snow leaportd osx doc?
-
basically all this fuss boils down to 2 teachers that want to use Keynotes and are kicking up a fuss that they used to have a Mac and now they have a PC and they cant use Keynote any more... I personally dont know why we are wasting time / money / resources trying to keep a minority happy but that is not my decision... Is there a keynote for windows?
