Ive got it sending mail from other events, I tested with some generic events that were happening all the time. So ive got the mailing part sorted.. I just cant seem to get these audits to log in the event viewer

Ive just done a gpupdate /force... Auditign was already enabled for a couple of other things.. What services do i need to start / restart? Does it really require a reboot of the server?

Im making the changes to policies etc with my own account.. but a colleague in the other office is then messing with the NTFS permissions with their own account to try to generate the log events but none are appearing.. Hmm Ive enabled auditing on my own folder to test but I cannot seem to generate any event logs... are these steps correct for the enabling of the auditing?

aha figured it out ) I had made an anon relay, but as the task was executing under a user account, i had to give that user permission on the send connector. OK so go this working on a test event, now to get it sorted for NTFS permissions... Thanks for the help RabbieBurns. And for nephilim for making me persevere in my research by saying its possible. bah set it all up but cannot get an email to send... the event seems to trigger and run but im not receiving any mail.... im sure ive got the send connector configured in the mailserver as other services send email from this fileserver (fsrm etc)

ok seems it was replaced in 2008 with Custom Tasks Assigning Custom Tasks to Events in Vista

How to use Eventtriggers.exe to send e-mail based on Event IDs Think this might be what im looking for.. but I cant figure out where the 'eventtrigger.exe' comes from? 'eventtriggers' is not recognized as an internal or external command, Eventtriggers

I am in the process of planning setup for the exact same scenario, exept I plan on having an exchange server at either end processing mail for the single example.com domain My main stumbling block atm is how to VPN the 2 sites together, but as previously mentioned I have been suggested Sites and Services to let windows do the p2p connection.. wehn i was doing my visa application here all my importand dox were fedexed to me, birth certificate, uni grades, degree, etc etc, pretty much every bit of paper thats important.. was there less than 48 hours. It was expensive but it was a painless experience. however on a separate occasion my old man sent me a credit card in my name linked to his account in a card with a letter and that was it. It was sent fed ex, the contents were declared, yet when it arrived it had been opened and examined and resealed by fedex tape. We cancelled the card just in case they had taken an imprint. There was no reason to open that package as it was sealed only when the fedex guy came to pick it up and signed off as such.

is there a way in 2008R2, using FSRM or such, or even a 3rd party software, that will let me get an email notification if NTFS permisisons are changed on certain folders?

Not yet. I have very limited face time with these particular laptops, they are in a trolley miles away from my office and Ive not had time to physically go and work on them, ive just been liasing with the teacher who looks after them to try and deploy the new client/password remotely. I guess Ill have to script the uninstall of the old one completely before I can install the new one.

Im having problems with a custom MSI i have made, in which I have configured the password.. There is already an older version of AB on the laptops Im deploying to with a different password, could this be my problem?
