just to add to my post all students have a Skydrive as part of their live@edu, and they can also access their network share through moodle. And the student wireless is seperated and locked down to port 80 only

we already had a full wireless in place, so we allow them on. 1 device per person, ipad or laptop only, we dont allow non-productive devices like phones or ipods or whatever. It all goes through our filter and they use ntlm to login so it identifies them. They know that we dont support the device, we have over 1000 laptops that we provide that they could be using, so if they lose their work or save it in a format incompatible with the school systems for printing etc, thats their problem not ours.

having a discussion here in the office.. what is the microsoft free space % for the system drive to operate windows. Got a laptop with a 64gb ssd and our soe is about 50gb and Im being told that 12gb free space is not enough to run an windows environement. Is there any technical or microsoft backing to this claim?

OK I think I have it... I think its event eventID 4670 not 590 as written in the documentation linked somewhere in the thread!

yeh testing with 2 seprerate accounts.. frustrating

it seems to be working in the sense that im getting event ID 4696 and 4698 when I view the permissions of the folders etc, but there are no 590 or any specific events actually logging the changing of the permissions.

Im struggling to understand step 4 of this, what is Auto Hidden Files? Apart from that, I have done all those steps. However the only event logs I seem to be getting are 5145 but none of the expected Task Category of File System

setting what? The way ive done it is to right click on an Event and enable email of that particualar event.. There are thousands of events I just want ntfs permissions changes email notifications If I can get these events to appear in the log, i can just right click on it and enable email notifications..
