Right Ive managed to find the right registry key that sets the keyboard which then enables the language bar. Problem is now students cant import that registry key... How can I make it a system wide setting rather than Current User?

Good idea Ill run regmon.. Trying to get Japanese and Chinese available as an option for the students in the Asian Languages classes to choose. That GP object is set as Not Configured

Thanks, got the languages installed but it seems that even though it is set to show, the language bar does not show until I go into region and language, and change keyboards and manually add in the new language keyboards. Is there a way to automate the addition of new keyboards, and therefore make the languagebar appear?

I cant seem to get them to come in via windows update.. Windows 7 language packs are available for computers that are running Windows 7 Ultimate or Windows 7 Enterprise says that which is why i might be struggling.. Ill try your way just now, cheers!

right it looks like im going to need to enable the extra languages manually. Thats no problem. But for some reason once they are enabled I cannot get the language bar to show for student accounts. Im wondering what restriction might be stopping it from showing?

The only way I can see to do it manually is to go to control panel, regions and languages, keyboards and languages, add chinese / japanese etc

I need to have the asian languages toolbar available on a load of laptops and Im trying to figure out a way to deploy it.. Cant seem to find a definitive answer. Also when I try to install it manually, the Languages toolbar displays for staff but not for students, could I have a GPO that is blocking the languages toolbar?

@MattGibson The way I have done it is I have staff on our on-premise exchange with [email protected] and a local exchange account I have students on Live@edu with [email protected] . This students.maindomain.edu is the one registered for live@edu What I did was add maindomain.edu as an accepted domain within live@edu, and even with closed campus enabled the two domains can email each other. I didnt have to add the students.maindomain.edu as an accepted domain within Exchange locally I also modified a poweshell script which would parse a CSV file which would create a live@edu account for the staff, but a liveID only, so they can login to skydrive etc using their normal on premis email addresses, but keep their existing mailbox on premis. I use ILM so passwords are synced for both students and teachers (and I since figured out how to get ILM to do the teacher liveIDs too) Let me know if you want me to share the script + a sample csv, also have a look at my how-to guide i posted somewhere in this thread when I set it up

It says No Similar Threads Found, but last year Im sure I posted this exact same question, and was provided with a batch file to run against a text file of usernames/foldernames. I cannot for the life of me find either the batch file nor the previous thread. We ban .exe files in the students folders, but some of the programming students need access. If anyone can point me in the direction of the old thread, or provide me with the command I might have used in the batch file, would be much appreciated. Many Thanks and sorry for the repost ;/

We are making more use of SQL databases now. ILM has its own SQL database, and now we have just gone to Oliver 5.0 this uses its own SQL database as well. Im pretty new to SQL and dont really know much ;p What is the best way to backup these SQL databases? We have Backup Exec 2010, is there an SQL component for that (and does it require extra licensing?) Or is the internal backup from within SQL sufficient? (whats the best way to set this up?) Cheers

Ive got a whole list of usernames, and I want to run a quick query to see simply if they exist in AD or not.. Ive got the Quest powershell plugins installed if that would make it easier.. Is there a simple command I can run to parse a list and get a true of false result?

With the windows 8 beta due soon, could anyone point me in the direction of a file name I might search for for a recent interim build to test with some tablets. The developer preview from september is obviously a bit old now, and im impatient for the real beta ;p

Ive got them booting with windows WAIK ok via pxe now, problem is I have no idea how to use this to deploy images. I cannot seem to get the SMSC drivers to load into the ghost WinPE, which is what we normally do use for imaging (by booting via WinpE or PCDos on USB)

Ive got a 2007 exchange server and the majority of users are on office 2010, with about 5 on office 2003 still. This happens to both. Occasionaly recently emails have been sent and recieved with attachements, usually pdf files from what I can tell but it may be others, that just dont appear within the email client outlook. The paperclip is there indicating an attachment but there is no way to view or find this attachment at all. OPening webmail allows the download of the attachemnt fine. Im not sure how common this is amongst the users and cannot seem to find a consistancy between emails when it occurs. Not sure if this is an exchange issue or an outlook issue really.

I bought 20 of the docks, only testing with 2 of them but they both seem fine. TBH tihs is my first dabble with WDS and PXE booting I normally just use Ghost and boot the laptops from USB or CD and do them 15 at a time. I just added the .wim from the win7 dvd to the Boot Images, Added the drivers to the drivers section, and then added the drivers from there to the Boot image. Mine is booting a different file from yours though not sure if that makes any difference? \boot\x86\images\winpe.wim is what mine loads..

Ok I think Ive figured out capture now, although I dont have a machine I have sysprepped to test with. Im going home now its 8pm and Ive not worked 12 hours in a long time!

THe one from the Dell website from arthurs link, R317737_ZPE.exe file name. Extracted the files, and then added them to Drivers, and then added them to the boot image. I have literally never used WDS before I am stumbling blindly. I have got it booting, and I have just deployed a vanilla win7 install to it over ethernet so im chuffed I got that bit working.. Just need to figure out how I can use this to capture an image from a tablet Ive preinstalled all the stuff on, and then redeploy that image. If anyone can tell me how to do that in a nutshell Ill be happy
