  1. Mostly it will be adobe CS5, and final cut express
  2. Whats this WGM? Is it part of OSX server? Im not sure what version of OSX server we have, the unit was purchased about 12-18 months ago. Its not lion. Its only lion clients we are playing with here. We do have deploy studio up and running on an iMac with server on it which is in testing stage. The real OSX server does SFA at the moment, apart from legacy netrestore. Not too fussed about getting preferences or policies or locking them down or anything, and all the users are existing windows users. This is just a bunch of old imacs and new probooks for the fart department. The rest of the network is all windows so need to have the students saving in their regular network home folder. Ive got some colleague/clown who is working on this but he's been at it since xmas and its getting frustrating seeing 0 progress and him just sitting there doing hee haw, on somehting that I reckon I could do with a bit of help from here and there in a week or so.
  3. I dont think we have groups set up. Is this something that I can implement pre capture that will persist once the rest of the computers are reimaged?
  4. OK I think I have fixed my problem without having to do any edb maintenance. The exchange server also runs Shadow Protect Server edition. These 2 backup softwares have run fine together for many years. Since the upgrade to bexec 2012 however, it seems its shadow protect causing the bexec errors. Disable shadow protect and bexec compltetes its backups fine.
  5. Boom Boom ====AddExecutable.cmd============== @echo off SET yearFolder=E:\Student\Users\%2 FOR /F "tokens=1" %%i IN (%1) DO ( filescrn exception add /path:%yearFolder%\%%i /add-filegroup:"Executable Files" /add-filegroup:"System Files" IF ERRORLEVEL 1 filescrn exception add /path:%yearFolder%\%%i /add-filegroup:"Executable Files" /add-filegroup:"System Files" /Overwrite ) ==================== called as "AddExecutable.cmd userlist.txt 2012" Wasnt actually on here i saw it thats why I couldnt find it again. Cheers to the original source.
  6. at the moment we use snow leapord and Admit Mac to bind our Macs to AD. With this we have folder redirection working so their mac desktop is a folder on the student filserver, and there are scripts that mount various network shares. This doesnt seem to work with Lion. Reckon its bugs / problems with Admit Mac, but my question is - is there a way to achieve the above without using a 3rd party software? We have an OSX Server if that makes any difference (at the moment all its used for is netrestore, whcih doesnt even work with the lastest mac probooks)
  7. Rasberry Pi
  8. I still cant find the original thread.. anyone able to help?
  9. OK, install is going fine against the default instance I created. I hadnt read anywhere that it wouldnt work with a named instance but Im guessing that was my problems all along. Also, with the default install the collation was wrong I had to use this command to fix it: Setup /QUIET /ACTION=REBUILDDATABASE /INSTANCENAME=MSSQLServer /SQLSYSADMINACCOUNTS=rabbieburns /SAPWD=supersecretpass /SQLCOLLATION=SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS
  10. We are still 2007 Exchange server for now.
  11. we've got a recent problem users are reporting that Outlook 2012 SP1 is forgetting their recently used email addresses. In previous versions these were saved in the nk2 file but I think thats changed with 2010. The setting to keep them rememebered is enabled and indeed it has been working since we upgraded to 2010 back in 2009 or whenever. Its only just recently started. Ive not released any updates for these machines this year so can rule that out.
  12. Ive just created a new SQL instance on the SQL server using the default instance this time, and it seems to be letting me continue. Previously I was using a named instance. Ill let you know how it goes tomorrow. Cheers.
  13. haha sorry dont mean to sound condesending!
  14. was using a slingbox to start with, but only coz I had one. To suggest one as a solution to this is daft
  15. Ive only got the 2 TVs in my room for now so the doubler will need to do (Ive not got it plugged in but its still working ok, I guess power is only needed for bigger distances? both mine are 0.5m cables)
  16. got one off ebay, works great. cheers
  17. yup as I thought, it was already enabled
  18. thanks ill check it out. But thinking about it I was able to use the same SQL server to install SCVMM to wouldnt that require remote connections ?
  19. yeh the RC says it works with R2. So its not just a case of opening the ports? What do i need to do within the configuration tool please?
  20. Ok then I guess I am stuffing something up with my SQL install Are you using SQL 2008R2 or 2008? Are there any changes I need to make to the SQL install process that differ from the default?
  21. does sccm need the sql server on the same box? im wondering if the install problems im having are due to me trying to use a seperate sql server ?
  22. SCCM is a pre-requesite for using Forefront Endpoint Protection afaik
  23. Hi sukh thanks for the quick reply. Does the Eseutil /MH require that the database is dismounted?
  24. only for 2007 I havent seen any for 2012 ? edit: Im sure the functionality of it is pretty much the same but I cant even get past the pre-requesite check to even begin getting it installed
