  1. cheers for the key shortcuts. Yeh i just chucked adobe reader on it stright away.
  2. Ive got this laptop configured pretty nicely and Im gonna use this as my main laptop for a while. The type of stuff I do (browsing/ email / RDP / file transfers / etc) I am doing fine with this current setup. I havent even needed to go to the start menu, but I have removed all the metro apps from it and pinned just my wanted apps. But when a metro app does open yeh, Alt+F4 is the only way to kill it that Ive found. Ive not really given it a proper test run on the tablet yet will make some time tomorrow to play with it more.
  3. how do you exit out of a metro app? they take over the full screen.. eg just tried to open a pdf attachemtn from an email and it opened metro pdf reader and the only way i could find to exit was Alt+F4 ..
  4. Good to see that http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-7/47395-windows-7-god-mode.html still works
  5. dism.exe /online /enable-feature /featurename:NetFX3 /Source:d:\sources\sxs sorted .net for me as i couldn't seem to get it to download via the auto thing.
  6. hmm how is that going to work on a tablet? I cant even get the 'right click down in the very very very bottom left corner of the screen to get the menu to pop up' to work on a tablet, even with a stylus..
  7. how do you shutdown / restart from the desktop ?
  8. installing it on a tablet and a laptop sitting side by side, just spent 5 mins cursing at the laptop trying to touch the screen and it not responding.. oops. How does the start 'menu' thing look with regards to icons? Has anyone tried to install apps like Office 2010 and Adobe CS5 etc? How does it sort all those icons?
  9. whats an esd ?
  10. right cmon its the 29th now wheres my beta!!
  11. I used the same SQL server to install SCVMM 2012 and SCOM 2012 no problem so the database and the credntials seem to be working OK..
  12. right reinstalled SQl with the correct collation but it still fails the pre-req check (i think the pre-req check is looking for SQL on the local server) So Im trying to install it anyway and specify the remote server, but its failling when trying to connect to the SQL DB: Exception message: [A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)], Exception details: [system.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)
  13. although Im assuming this will only fix the Collation error in my first post, I guess I should try to fix the other 2 as well before I go reinstalling.
  14. Thanks.. I guess Ill just blow away this SQL server and re-install.
  15. the script to change it only seems to change an existing db not the actual server. Ive also tried the method here Setting and Changing the Server Collation This is the output of the check script, is this the wrong one? I might have to uninstall and reinstall SQL I guess. Where abouts is the collation stuff in the setup steps I dont seem to remember it.
  16. Also my SQL is on a separate server not sure if that makes a difference?
  17. Thats the guide I followed actually. I'm pretty sure I followed it precisely but Ill double check, one thing though I'm not sure about the bit that says about SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS collation. The SQL Collation is one of the checks that fails. How do I check the SQL server is using SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS collation ?
  18. Nope, using SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1 with CU4 Supported Configurations for Configuration Manager
  19. Im trying to have a play with SCCM 2012 and I cant seem to get past the pre requesite check (see attached) Ive added the sccm2012 machine account to the administrators group on the SQL server, Ive disabled all firewalls to make sure its not a port thing, cant really find any other info on what I should be doing..
  20. im running ICS on my ancient HTC HD2 Its great
  21. Brother Solutions Center: MFC-9120CN: Australia Although on second thouoghts it seems you can get AIO with laser now. Cool.. The above looks pretty decent..
  22. One of my staff is looking to get a semi-decent AIO printer that also does scanning and copying. I guess these are all inkjet printers still, who can recommend a decent one? Its not going to be heavily used much, but something reliable, and that will do a nice photo print if needed. Not really fussed on price, but nothing astronomical. Im thinking HP as Ive never had issues with any HP. What do you recommend?
  23. acctaully if i just change the 'allow silent registry changes' and keep registry editiing disabled, it lets me import the key.. I think I have it working
  24. local user but students have registry editing disabled so its not importing
