One of our teachers is looking at getting Amazon fire tablets. (obviusly we would make sure they get the more expensive ones without ads) Does the amazon-ness of them makes them harder to manage than other android tablets?

All our teachers are complaining, but I haven't noticed a problem. I wonder if it's just with the registers/attendance modules.

Based on the page you linked, it looks like Bromcom are removing the link not ParentPay and it makes sense for them to want to move all the external access to use their standard API rather than having a bespoque link. We've always had ParentPay set up to use the API and it's never caused any problems. (Surely you only need to sync when you have new starters rather than every day?) That said, it does seem like a great excuse to jump over to MCAS payments.

Based on what I've seen in the past, the most likley reson is that the "office" is a convertued store room/cupboard, or classroom that's been partitioned up into office space and only one person got the heating (but they got all the heating so they're constantly too hot).

We use Civica Asset Managment (Formerly Parago). It works well as a general asset manager for us and the site team.

Most of our rooms, we just run direct HDMI and USB into the classroom display screens with HDMI and USB over ethernet in a few locations. HDMI over ethernet (kramer units) has been very reliable, USB over eithernet can be a bit twitchy. We're on our second generation of display screens now, so keeping a few of the older ones back as drop-in replacements while the other ones are being RMAed has worked pretty well. It's not as easy as with a projector, but with the site team's help, we can swap out a board in about 10 minutes. Although we've had a lot of problems with our most recent batch of boards, so we're looking at cycling them out again sooner rather than later.

Laptops tend to be more expensive, are less rugged and have a shorter refresh cycle. In my experience, some staff will push back against bringing in laptops as they see it as pressure to work from home (and if you aren't expecting them to take them home then you need charging lockers or somewhere to keep them overnight).

We've got a member of staff who uses scheduled send from the Outlook deksop app regularly and has to split their time between different offices. This is causing problems as, scheduled emails created in one office that are in their Outlook Outbox don't show up (or get sent) when they are in the other office. (They also don't show up anywhere in Web-Outlook which doesn't even have the Outbox visible). Is there a way to get the Outbox/scheduling to roam between machines?

We moved from Iris/Fastrack/BioStore back to Cunninghams a couple of years ago, and it's been pretty good, support was great during the transition and it's pretty much just worked ever since.

Our newer stuff is "building and network cab ID/Sequential number", so CA/097. But a lot of our legacy stuff is done by "port room number/sequential number", so C101/01 While convention seems to be to label based on the switch/server rack its patched in on, I can see some use in naming based on where the port is.

Mornig all, We're looking at SCG Connected for our new phone and internet systems, they seem to be big in the locality but we haven't used them ourselves. So has, anyone used them before? Did you think they were good? bad? indiferent? Thanks!

We've had pretty good truck out of Dell and HP All-in-ones. The lenovo ones we got brake if you look at the funy. Recently we've been moving away from AIOs back to mini/SFF PC and screen as they tend to be cheaper for the same spec.

It's a bit out there, but if your considering upgrading your intenrnet, have you considered pushing the webfiltering to the ISP and then just running a firewall on-site?

Yeah, it looks like most of the OG doctors have way longer runs than I thought.

I think part of the love for Tenant's Dr is that he's been the longest running "modern Dr" (possibly the Dr with the most episode overall), so by that measure alone he's probably had the most good/great episodes.

I think they mean S M S the messaging service rather than Sims the MIS.

So lock the Dr to present day earth (I think that's what they did with 3)? Or do you put a slghtly different twist on it? I'd be down for leaving it a couple of years and then soft-rebooting (ignore the "Rose" thing and just start with the new Dr).
