Season 1 of Discovery, then the opening 2 parter is probably the weakest part of the series. TBH I thought Battle of the Binaries was terrible, but the rest of S1 was pretty good. If you're talking season 2 the first episode was one of the better ones IMO.

As someone who came to the TV show first I never had the problem. But remember reading that they had the same issue with Bobby in Season 2. Where-by they (Amos and Bobby's actors) are actually pretty tall and heavyset, but in a cast that's predominantly over six feet they look kind-of average.

I've always done it with scheduled WOL and shutdown scripts running from a server. At one point I played with using local scheduled tasks for shutdown, but it was a bunch more work for no real gain over a running from the server. Works well for out of hours server rebooting as well.

You could schedule the updates for the early evening (say 6:30) and have the PCs shut down a couple of hours later. Are there really updates every weekday? Could you have them update every other day or maybe just twice a week? To be fair, we just let the PCs update during the day and it's not caused any problems.

We use https://www.dmsystem.co.uk/user-group-management/onedrive-connect to map our student drives to sharepoint and most of the time there's no difference to end users to when it was on-prem. The only major gotcha we've come across is that you can't play videos direct from the mapped drive. (Only works in browser), but Thimon's idea of a local Media Share gets around that (and is probably something we'll do as we move the staff area up).

Right now, it's pretty simple to copy the settings from an old config file (say after a big update) by having two copies of notepad open side by side, compared to the GUI settings console which I personally find kind of clunky. (I'm sure there are other people who have the opposite opinion) Besides, if it's on the C drive, don't most places restrict/hide the C drive, and equally with a network share, you can hide it and I'd expect most places to block being able to type a unc path into the explorer address bar. If you went this rout, I'd be tempted to say have the ability to save a plain text XML as well (as a backup or export) Similar to how Smart Install Manager works. Although I don't know how much extra work that would be.

We use Biostore's Fastrack for our catering (and are fully cashless). When it works it's fine, but the support can be pretty hit and miss and we always seem to get sync errors with parent pay. Last I heard, the higher ups were thinking about getting rid and going back to Cunninghams or even finding something new.

Cool, I never noticed you could apply without really changing anything. As long as everyone has the same path (bar the %username% bit) you should be able to make the "change" to multiple accounts at once. I've done it for a whole class at once before without any issues.

Doesn't resetting the home folder in AD Users & Computers fix the file permissions. If you've got something like \\server\share\%username% then it's easy to do en-mass. I've done it before by "changing the path from the resolved "\\server\share\jsmith" back to "\\server\share\%USERNAME%" (while it resolves back to the same thing the console treats it like a new value).

You could always use some of the ECDL sample tests.

I can't find the link right now, but he got a list of "compatible phones" which included the Polycom VVX400 series. I'm more than willing to believe that this is either incorrect, or (more likely) comes with a caveat like "only the touchscreen ones."

We've got polycom IP phones that look and behave like normal desk phones (10 number keys and no touch screen). According to our Microsoft expert, they should be compatible with the Teams/365 system, so I'm rather interested to know how that would work. Because if It means have to navigate the address book using the little d-pad it's going to get really annoying and no-one is going to buy into that over just picking up the phone and mashing the keypad.

Hey, Really like the new version, but when we were testing 318 I came across a small issue. When using find and replace with Full Screen Mode set, the "End of text has been reached" dialogue box comes up behind the main window with no way to give it focus. As you can't interact with the main window while the dialogue box is open, it looks like the application is hanging. Thanks.

As a nice to have, it would be really useful if the ConfigEditorGUI could import/copy settings from an older config file.

We use Claroread for text to speech. It all works well and they have a load of downloadable voices you can add in at no extra cost (in the pro version). However, it doesn't do speech to text (at least the version we've got doesn't). Personally, I've had pretty good results with the MS office built-in tools, which are further enhanced in 2019 or Office 365 versions.

We have edge, IE and Chrome available and let staff choose whatever they want.

We get them to sign the AUP and either they (for schools direct) of the Uni (for PGCE) have a contract with the school. Then they have mostly the same access as regular staff. The only thing we don't give them by default is external RD access.

We only have switch user on selected PCs as when we last tried it (admittedly back in windows 7) the classroom pcs began to grind after a more than a couple of users. We also deploy this (https://4sysops.com/archives/restore-administrative-unlock-to-windows-7/) to allow admins to log out logged sessions without having to reboot the PC. What would be really useful for us would be to be able to limit the number of logged on users.

Here, we get people to use their school onedrive. At my last school I used dropbox to automatically sync any photos taken with a share on the file server (it also served as a file drop to get documents onto the ipad). All worked pretty well and the size limit in dropbox made them keep the photos organised more.
